The Silver Fujifilm X-T2

I’ve received a hint, that the silver Fujifilm X-T2 should be announced in January.

As you might remember, the silver Fujifilm X-T2 already appeared on the web several times, like on this Australian store. It was listed for sale for the same price of the black X-T2. The reason for the leak, is that at a certain stage Fujifilm planed to release both, the silver and black version at the same time, but then Fujifilm changed plans (as so often). Too bad, that stores already had the official documents that included the silver X-T2 and shared the images on their websites.

The Graphite Fujifilm X-Pro2

I’ve already told you a few months ago, that Fujifilm is planing to release a dark grey X-Pro2. Well, according to hints I got, also this one, just like the silver X-T2, should be announced in January. And it won’t come alone…

The Graphite XF23mmF2 WR

Fujifilm will also launch the graphite XF23mmF2 in January… making it the best companion for the new graphite X-Pro2 :)

Fujifilm GFX :: “Addictive Image Quality.” ** Is the G-System Completing or Competing with the X-system?

Share

Fujifilm continues to tease the Fujifilm GFX at their channel… and they uploaded a bunch of new “Fujifilm GFX Challanges” Videos.

One of the questions is, if the Fujifilm G-System can replace the Fujifilm X-system. For studio work, Itaru Hirama says that the G-system will become his main camera, and the X-series will become his faithful back up. From a wedding photographer’s perspective, you can check out Nathan Sans video, where he says the GFX will be his camera for some specific moments and very special photos, where he wants to deliver to the client the ultimate image (such as the posed portraits of the couple) and for the rest he will use his X-Pro2. So, overall, both system (the G and the X) seem to compelete each other.

  • Piet Van den Eynde (Travel) took the GFX out on the streets of India. He’s blown away by the sharpness, loves the incredible dynamic range, and being an X-shooter, he immediatly feels at home using the GFX – Video here. There is also an article about the GFX in India at thedigitaltrekker.com
  • Itaru Hirama (Studio) uses the GFX in studio… but in a rather original way… a photographic jam sessions let’s say. He was impressed by the bokeh of the GFX and loves the fact that he can make very large prints. The GFX is compact and versatile. The GF lenses are stunning at every aperture. For professinals, the GFX completes the Fujifilm system. It will become the main camera of Itaru Hirama and the X-series will serve faithfully as a back-up. – Video here
  • Yinghui Wu (Landscape) takes the GFX out on a rainy day on the seaside and on the mountains. It’s a landscape photography pure video, with no talk, “just” images. – Video here
  • Natan Sans (Wedding) says he will continue to use his X-Pro2 for spontaneous and fast photos, which grab the moment. But he needed also something with maximum quality for specific photos and poses… the Fujifilm GFX. An excellent, and light, camera to work with, so he ends up holding it on hands all the time. AF points are all over the sensor, which makes photographing moving subjects easier compared to other Medium Format systems. Addictive image quality. When shooting weddings, he will use the X-system in situation, where he has to be really close to the couple without being to intrusive, but in some specific moements, for some very special photos of his clients, he will use the GFX. – Video here
  • Serkan Günes (Landscape) takes the GFX into the extreme conditions of the Lapland, searching for the perfect light. He does not talk about the GFX, but you can see how he works with the camera basically covered in snow. Weather sealing seems to work just fine, but it wonder how long the battery last in the extreme cold. – Video here

Fujifilm X-T2 Vs. Nikon D500

DPReview decalred the best gear of 2016.

In the “Best High-end ILC” category it was a close race between the Fujifilm X-T2 and the Nikon D500. At the end the Nikon D500 won at the photo finish. The Nikon D500 has also been declared the overall “Product of the Year

It was a two-horse race in this category, with two products way out in front of the rest of the pack (do horses run in packs?). The Fujifilm X-T2 came a close second place to take the runner-up spot in this category. DPReview staff praised its portability, ergonomics and image quality.”

Fujifilm X-A3 Best Entry Level ILC

The Fujifilm X-A3 has been declared the “Best Entry Level ILC 2016

The winner of this category is the Fujifilm X-A3. While not as feature-laden as its higher-end X-series peers, the 24MP, WiFi-equipped X-A3 is a great camera for someone just starting out in photography. It offers plenty of scope for beginners to grow, without being confusing or intimidating to use.”

Instax Share SP-2 Printer Best Accessory

The Fujifilm Instax Share SP-2 Printer won the “Accessory of the Year Award 2016“:

It wasn’t even close, the second generation Fuji Instax Share SP-2 printer was our favorite accessory of 2016. Why? Because there’s just nothing quite like holding a physical image in your hands. Faster and sleeker than the original and with more printing options, the SP-2 can easily link up with Fujifilm cameras or print from a compatible phone or tablet.”

X-T2/Pro2 (and X-T1) Purple Grid Artifacts :: Does the X-T2 Get Hot :: Dump the 14 + 23 for the 10-24? ** Top FXF Threads & Images

NOTE
As you will see in the thread, I’ve shared a sample taken recently with my X-T1 + 35/1.4, where I recreate the same issue. I actually do not consider it an issue (at least on my X-T1) because it hardly ever occurs (even if I try hard to re-create it appositely), and if it occurs, I can make the artifacts disappear by very slightly changing the angle. Moreover, I hear about the same issue occuring with other mirrorless camera brands. It might be an issue more or less common to many mirrorless cameras, due to the reflection of the light hitting the sensor on the rear element of the lens.
My Personal Conclusion: For me, this has absolutely no influence on my real life shooting. And if you check out the images below, you will see X-T2 backlit images taken with no artifacts at all. So personally I do not care about this. And how rare this issue is, is proven by the fact, that in all these years, nobody ever complaint about grid artifacts on the X-T1… at least until today… ;)
