Fujifilm X-T2 Image Printed on Huge Billboard for Nike :: Fujinon XF 50mmF2 WR Vs. XF 56mmF1.2

Share

Anyone who Questions X-T2 APS-C images…

… can’t do big prints?

In these days, where we are all stunned by the resolution of the Fujifilm GFX, Sean Marc Lee shows that the 24MP APS-C can already print big. In fact, he shoot an image for Nike with his X-T2 and it was printed on a huge billboard. He used the X-T2 w/ 35mm f2.2 1/125.

So yes, also APS-C Fuji’s can get the job done :) You can see the image at Marc’s instagram here. Also from the same campaign, check out in Chinese hypebeast.

Fujinon XF 50mm F2 WR Vs. XF 56mm F1.2

Jordan just shared his XF50mmF2 Vs. XF56mmF1.2 comparison at admiringlight here:

both are very good lenses. The 56mm f/1.2 is sharper at similar apertures over most of the frame, though the 50mm f/2 is a touch sharper at the edges at f/2. Bokeh is a fairly close race, and as both are quite sharp, and both have nice renderings, I’d consider the other factors when choosing between the two.”

Lying Down: Fine Art and Printing Large with Fujifilm

Share

Guest Post by Josh Tomalin – WebsiteInstagramFacebookTwitter

Ana B from Cafe Reason got in touch to talk about an idea – lying down in public.

Walking around our city, she observed that there was no space to lie down. Not just that there was nowhere where the purpose is for the human to lie down, that there was nowhere where it is even possible for the human to lie down. Some of this is a perfectly logical expression of public space design. Pavements are meant to be corridors of movement rather than areas for being stationary in. You’ll typically hit the streets to move between places rather than as an end in itself. Sure, I’m aware there are exceptions to this like the romantic conceptions of street photographers, flâneurs and guys painted in silver paint juggling eggs but these exceptions just prove the rule. Lying down in public looks strange.

Some of this lack of space to lounge is more pernicious. By virtue of being a rich city situated between some other, larger, cities there are a larger-than-you-might-expect population of homeless people in Oxford. Unavoidably therefore, lots of permanent public space and furniture is designed to make it harder to be homeless. Take a look around you at the benches in your city or town, most likely they will have hard armrests separating them into different seats. You can’t lie down on these benches.

XF 50mmF2 Lenstip Review: “Excellent Lens, Applause to Fuji” :: Palle Schultz GFX eXperience: “It will Help You to Do the Best You Can Be”

Fujifilm GFX

– The Fujifilm GFX is like your old SLR + example shots at Palle Schultz Youtube: “When you see the files that come out of it, there is really nothing to complain about. There is only one thing you can complaint about while using the GFX, and that is the photographer, because the GFX will show if the photographer is not good, but the GFX will help you to do the best that you can be. […] the files are so big, that you don’t want to fill up your hard disk too fast. So I slowed down, and I asked my models to slow down, and take fewer pictures, but better. With the GFX you concentrate more, and take that one picture that you want“. Check out also the AWESOME images at the end of the video (music in the background played by Palle Schultz himself)

– Potraits on FUJI GFX 50S, 120mm F4 Macro and 63mm F2.8 by Baljit Singh Deo at baldeo. Another set of stunning images.

Both, Palle Schultz and Baljit Singh Deo are members of our 10,200+ members strong Fujifilm GFX facebook group, share their work with the GFX 50s there and are always open to discuss it with the members. I really love to see how this group is growing together and how much enthusiasm there is for the GFX… and for photography in general.

We also offer a GFX tailored news/rumors stream at our Fujifilm GFX facebook page. You won’t miss a single GFX tidbit by following it.

Fujinon XF 50mm F2 WR

Lenstip just shared their Fujinon XF50mmF2 WR review, and it’s an extremely positive one.

Pros:

  • handy but solid and weather-sealed casing,
  • brilliant image quality in the frame centre,
  • good image quality on the edge of the frame,
  • negligible spherical aberration,
  • low lateral chromatic aberration,
  • sensible coma correction,
  • negligible astigmatism,
  • sensible performance against bright light,
  • silent, sensibly quick and accurate autofocus on the X-T2 body.

Cons:

  • some problems with the longitudinal chromatic aberration,
  • visible vignetting on RAW files.

Conclusion: “An excellent lens – those words would be enough. Still, to make our summary more eloquent we have to add that for a very decent price you get a lens sensationally sharp in the frame centre, small, lightweight, weather-sealed and produced in Japan. It didn’t avoid some flaws but they aren’t very important and don’t change our assessment in any way. A round of applause, Fuji!

Fujinon XF 18-135 Delivery Delay: “Situation to be Resolved Around Summer” + Rediscovering my 18-55 and 55-200!

Share

The Fujinon XF 18-135 has quickly become my favorite travel lens along with the XF23mmF1.4. Since the day I bought it, my XF18-55 and XF55-200 are more or less collecting dust.

Just in these days I was considering to sell the 18-55 and 55-200, but I said to myself: “first, use them again, shoot with them, then decide“.

So it’s a couple of days now that I run around only with my 18-55 and 55-200… and I start to appreciate them again so much, that I don’t want to sell them anymore. Especially the XF18-55 is just crazy for a regualar “kit lens”.

So for now I so much enjoy shooting with these “old” Fujinon lenses again, that I will keep them. But I guess, sooner or later, at least one of these three lenses has to be sold… I need money for this one :-) !

rediscovering my 18-55 and 55-200… and yep, I’m still rocking the good old X-T1… at least until this comes true ;)

But this post is about the XF18-135, since Fujifilm just issued an official press-release about a delivery delay… so if you want one, you better grab one now at AmazonUS, BHphoto or your local dealer (it’s already backordered at Adorama)

Here is the press release
