New SmallRig Battery

SmallRig has launched a new version of their NP-W235 battery for Fujifilm cameras.

Now, SmallRig already offers an older version of the NP-W235 battery. So what are the differences?

Well, I have checked the BHphoto comparison tool to compare the specs between the old versus the new SmallRig NP-W235 batteries

• Comparison: Fujifilm NP-W235 vs SmallRig NP-W235 (old) vs SmallRig NP-W235 (new)

The main differences I could see are that the new one is more powerful (2400 mAh vs 2040 mAh), a bit heavier (83g vs 78g) and has a higher operating temperature (32 to 113°F or 0 to 45°C versus
32 to 104°F or 0 to 40°C).

Also, the new battery supports fast charging and has a UBS-C charging port built into the battery itself.

I did ask SmallRig more details, and they told me that “the new battery has battery quality cell, with a safe and reliable circuit for stable voltage and current output“.
