BUILT FOR BOKEH: New XF lens with super-smooth bokeh coming? (new source)

 photo pic_01_zps48f6e2df.jpg

INITIAL NOTE

Please don’t mix up DOF with bokeh. This rumor is not about a super fast lens with a crazy shallow DOF (like the IBELUX 40mm f/0.85 – see my review here), but it’s about a lens that produces extremely pleasing bokeh.

THE RUMOR

A new source told me that Fuji is working on a dual aperture lens, similar to the Sony/Minolta’s STF (Smooth Transition Focus). The Sony/Minolta is a 135mm prime with 2 sets of aperture blades and specialized optics (apodization filter) to …

… well, I’ll let you google the technical stuff by yourself. Let’s get to the heart of the matter: this lens will make the out of focus areas super-smooth and pleasing… a lens, basically, built for bokeh!

But which lens will it be? The 90mm f/2 in the roadmap? Or will there be a new lens still not listed in the roadmap? Or maybe an update of an already existing XF lens? These are all plausible options, but still without an answer… anyone out there who knows the answer? Then feel free to contact me, also 100% anonymously via rumor box (and in this case you can use a nick-name if you want, so that I can eventually recognize you in future).

FINAL NOTE

Please take it with a grain of salt… but… if true, my friends, the ultimate bokeh lens is coming!

Fujifilm X100T: EVF bigger than the EVF of the X-E2 (x0.67 magnification)

 photo asd_zpscffec964.jpg
In the fast-moving rumor mill, the Fujifilm X30 is already history. There is no time to lay back in the past and say “hey, I got all the X30 leaked specs right”. I’ll just send a big “THANK YOU” to those sources who shared correct rumors with FR…

… and already start to look ahead to the next camera that should be released by Fujifilm: the X100S successor (rumored to be called Fujifilm X100T).

Yep, there is no time to rest, not even on my holidays ;-).

Now, I got the following information by a trusted source about the X100S successor:

– EVF will have a x0.67 magnification and offer a horizontal apparent field of view of approx. 27°. Biggest EVF in Fuji’s line after X-T1.

This confirms rumors shared back in February, that the X100T EVF would be better than the one on the X-E2 (although not as good as the one on the X-T1)

That’s it for now, take care and feel free to share rumors… that would be a big help in order to make my daily rumor-work a bit easier.

Fujifilm corrects Photokina-TYPO: No Full Size Sensor but APS-C sensor “which rivals full frame”

 photo correction_zps6b4e6997.jpg

Just a flash: last week Fujifilm told us at their dedicated Photokina website that they will show visitors “high image quality with a full size sensor“. But Fujifilm just corrected the typographical error and now says that “the emphasis will be on the high resolution of the APS-C sensor, which rivals that of a full frame sensor.”

And another Mini-Rumor: Fujifilm says they will update their App soon. Check out this tweet.

IMAGE: Fujifilm X30 in Black!

And here it is all in black: the Fujifilm X30. Control ring and tilt screen… everything as rumored until now. The camera should be announced on Tuesday, August 26… and there is an excellent reason to read Fujirumors on that day ;-)

[UPDATE: no FF, but APS-C] Fujifilm says they will show “full size sensor” cameras at Photokina

– – – – – [UDPATE: Fujifilm corrected the typo. Read more here.] – – – – –

Fuji launched a special Photokina site here. The strange thing, spotted by mirrorlessrumors here, is that Fuji says they will show Photokina visitors “high image quality with a full size sensor“.

Now type “full size sensor” in google, and look at the results…. you’ll get plenty of articles about Full Frame sensors.

Why should Fujifilm call an APS-C sensor “full size“? It would obviously be mistaken for a “Full Frame” sensor. If they mean APS-C, then I recommend Fuji to change the wording. And if they do not mean APS-C, then I have some work to do now.

NOTE: Fuji Manager Mr. Kawahara said back in December that XF lenses would NOT be compatible with full frame camera. “If we launch the full frame body we have to launch the full frame lens too. So it is not good for X-series user.”
