The X-T1 Firmware ver. 4.0 rumor history

First let’s make a bit of order in the Super Firmware ver.4.0 for X-T1 rumor:

1) Back in April I told you here that a new Firmware with improved AF for X-T1 will come in Mid-May (probably 11th of May). – NEW SOURCE
2) An anonymous source confirmed here that Fuji will release a new firmware, that will make the X-T1 a “Completely New Camera“. Note: this source didn’t say anything about the release date of this firmware, just that it will come – ANONYMOUS SOURCE

Don’t Worry, Be Happy, The Firmware will come!

Recently Fujifilm released just a minor update (FW ver. 3.11 for tethered shooting).

Some X-T1 shooters were a bit worried, that my sources might have been wrong. But I really want to assure you that the FW 4.0 will come. Please do NOT (!!!) listen to those folks, who keep up saying (as usual) that I’m just deliberately spreading BS…. to those folks: I’m really sorry to disappoint you (again & again), but the firmware WILL come. Just relax, take it easy and accept this fact ;) … any maybe check out also the huge 2015 rumor overview and fact check.

The problem is just to know when exactly it will be released & which features it will possibly bring (a part from a faster AF speed). Please give me a bit of time to investigate about it… and in the meantime, here is what a NEW SOURCE just told us:

A) Fuji will announce the new Firmware in Mid-May (probably the 11th)
B) The Firmware will be available for download in June (this means, more or less when the X-T10 will be available on the market) – NOTE: last minutes delay can happen, see X100 firmware.

So don’t be afraid, dear X-T1 shooters, you’ll get plenty of Fuji’s Kaizen Love soon… and let’s cross fingers that there will be some nice little updates also for some other X-series cameras.

Where is the pop-up flash? What are those thin rings under the big dials for? ISO dial or DRIVE Dial? Well, here are some first instructions on how to use the Fujifilm X-T10 ;)

– There is a pop-up flash. Do you see the trapezoid framed in red? That’s the part that pops-out when you enable flash.
– You enable the flash with a switch under the Drive Dial.
– There is a switch to enable Full Auto (scene recognition mode) under the Shutter Dial.
– Drive Dial (enable CH, CL, BKT, Panorama…)
– Two different kit options: X-T10 with XC 16-50 or XF 18-55.

X-T10 Vs. X-E2

A long rumor story, started here on FujiRumors back in January, is going to end soon. On May 18, Fujifilm will launch the Fuji X-T10 (probably early in the morning London time – around midnight in New York). Stay tuned… I’m ready for the live blogging session.

Now we can finally enjoy the first image of Fuji’s new X-series cameras, shared for us by one of our trusted sources (thanks). On this image we can see the X-T10 with XF18-55 lens (the other kit option is with XC 16-50 lens). The flash is inside of the “pentaprism”.

The pretty comprehensive rumored specs list, shared over the last 5 months, will probably be 100% correct, and, once again, I’d like to thank all FR sources for their amazing help!

Many of you asked me to introduce a FR1 to FR5 rating system like on all the other rumor sites, but I honestly don’t like rumor ratings. Here is why:

As you might know, in 2014 I’ve shared 74 correct rumors (82% hit rate). Many of them came from new or anonymous sources. So, just because a rumor comes from a new/anonymous source, it doesn’t mean it is wrong or has a low credibility.

Sure, I receive also plenty of fake rumors shared by people, who apparently do not like FujiRumors for some reason, but I was able to debunk almost all of them… so all those fake rumors luckily never went online (it would be a long, fun list to publish one day)!

Also, consider that many rumors have been shared several months (and even over a year) before the real product hit the market. For example, FR-sources shared already in July 2014, that the X-PRO2 will feature a 24MP sensor (and I’m confident that this rumor is correct).

Such Super Early Leaks can often be a problem for FR, because products that were really in Fuji’s plans at the moment when the rumor was shared, were dropped by Fuji later on (see X70, dual card slot for X-T1 and more). So it happens that correct rumors turn out to be wrong at the end… sh*t happens ;) .

That being said, I understand your need of a rating within this rumor jungle. Therefore, once or twice a year, I sum up all the rumors and try to order them according to their reliability. The list includes also rumors shared in 2014 which are still not verified.

This is also the occasion for me to say a BIG THANK YOU to all sources, who shared right rumors in the past years. I think 82% is an good hit rate for a rumor site, and it would not be possible without your amazing help…. we are all looking forward to hear more from you :) .

THE FACT CHECK 2015

NOTE about the 2015 rumor Fact Check. I have made 2 lists. A “fair list” and an “unfair list“. The fair lists consist in all the rumors shared by different sources at different times, each of them could have been right or wrong. On the other hand, in the unfair list I put everything into the same pot. It’s not fair towards the work of my sources, but I share it out of a pre-emptive self-defense from those who want to put every into the same pot.
