FR-reader Roger just told me that AmazonUS finally takes pre-orders here (XF 55-200). He said that “there appears to be no order activity yet as there is no sales rank posted. If this is correct, one could order now and be high on list.” UK-readers can preorder here at AmazonUK (“this item is due to be released on June 14, 2013“)

Preoder the 55-200: BHphoto / Adorama / AmazonUS / AmazonUK / DigitalRev / PCHstore Brussel

BHphoto estimates that the new Zeiss lenses will ship in 6-8 weeks. So they should be in stock in late June / beginning of July.

Hi I would like that you read this post http://www.stevehuffphoto.com/2013/05/07/the-nikon-coolpix-a-quick-review-amazing-quality-in-the-palm-of-your-hand/

Very strange that now Steve Huff prefers the nikon coolpix A and He says that is better in sharpness than fujifilm x100s

I think the fuji x100s is better http://www.whatdigitalcamera.com/equipment/advice/537648/nikon-coolpix-a-vs-fujifilm-x100s.html

That’s not what he said. Gotta read more carefully.

Relax, Steve Huff is nothing but a blogger who likes everything he ever writes about. He works the same way as Ken Rockwell, not truly a professional, skilled, ethical “reviewer” but, instead, a hit-generator. Actually, that’s pretty much how 99% of photography gear review sites operate. Very few are willing to give poor grades to equipment unless it is so painfully bad that they would never be able to pass it off otherwise in which case they tend to try to make the piece into something trollish or joking.

So don’t worry too much about these comparisons. Every time I ever read a Steve Huff review he’s soooo impressed! It’s the best thing ever! Rawr!

He does this for two reasons: Fanboys are loyal to anyone who talks up their gear so they will link to these sites to all their friends. And the other reason is, manufacturers love to send their gear to reviewers who are likely to write positive reviews. They don’t have to BUY the review, because, the reviewers already demonstrated they will rarely (and very softly) make any serious criticism.

If you really truly care about one camera vs. another, just rent the stupid thing(s) and test them yourself. You’ll never know from a review if you like the results you will get, because, it won’t be YOU getting them.
