Fujifilm X-Pro4 – Rebuilt from the Ground – Wishes and Speculations

The Fujifilm X-Pro4

2 years ago, Luca Petralia made a video in which he expressed his Fujifilm X-Pro4 wishes. Among them, the controversial removal of the hybrid viewfinder.

But for some who wish to get rid of the optical viewfinder, there are others instead who prefer the EVF to get removed in favor a full optical-only viewfinder.

Personally, I think neither the optical nor the electronic viewfinder should be removed.

On the contrary, I hope they’ll both be improved, and early rumors point indeed towards that.

Fujifilm X-T6, X-Pro4, X-H3, X100VII with 46 Megapixel Sensor? – Speculation Based on Fujifilm GFX180

We told you that there will be a Fujifilm GFX180. it won’t happen very  soon, but it will come at some point.

And the Fujifilm GFX180 might even tell us more about the future of the Fujifilm APS-C system and the X-Trans 6 sensor.

Why?

Well, Fujifilm usually uses the same sensor for the X system and GFX system, with the only difference that the GFX sensor is about 4 times bigger.

This means:

  • 26MP APS-C sensor (X-S20 & Co) = 102MP on GFX (GFX100S & Co)

Now, if we were to apply the same logic to the rumored Fujifilm GFX180 sensor, then we would get this

  • 180MP on GFX = about 45.8MP on APS-C

This means that I would not be surprised if the Fujifilm X-T6, but also the Fujifilm X-Pro4, the Fujifilm X-T60, the Fujifilm X-E6, Fujifilm X100VI and the Fujifilm X-H3 would come with a 46 megapixel sensor.

This means a slight increase in resolution for APS-C, which is definitely welcome.

Other questions remain open, with the main one being if it will be a DGO or DCG sensor.

Regarding the “more megapixel are bad for low light photography”, make sure this read this debunking article.

Fujifilm X Shop Vietnam Lists Fujifilm X-Pro4 as “Coming Soon”… Undermining Their Own Fujifilm X-T6 Specs?

We recently reported that the Vietnamese Fujifilm Shop X Camera listed the Fujifilm X-T6 on its website—along with a set of highly controversial specifications.

However, that same shop also lists the Fujifilm X-Pro4, marking it as “Coming Soon” and attributing it to 5th-generation specs.

And this tells us a lot… about those listings.

I checked their X-Pro4 page, and it appears to have been online since September 2024.

In addition to that, it shares what are very likely wrong specs, since they say it will come with 5th-generation specifications. I mean, after such a long wait, an X-Pro4 launching with 5th-generation specs would unleash the shitstorm of the century—and FujiRumors would proudly lead it. 😉 So I hope they are wrong on this.

All this strongly suggests that it is nothing more than a placeholder, filled with assumed specs rather than real and final specs.

And if the X-Pro4 page is indeed fabricated, this inevitably means that we should take also their Fujifilm X-T6 listing with a grain of salt.

Anyway, this is what they write on their X-Pro4 product page:

Sorry, But the Fujifilm X-T6, X-Pro4, X-H3 (and Friends) Won’t Arrive in 2025

A few months ago, we estimated—based on Fujifilm’s historical sensor/processor refresh cycles—that the next sensor generation would likely arrive in late 2025 or early 2026.

To be clear, that wasn’t a rumor, just a data-driven speculation.

Following that article, some speculated that November 2025 could be the right moment, since Fujifilm has historically launched some of its most important cameras in that month (such as the X-T5).

But today I can confirm: the 6th generation platform will not be launched in 2025. So you can now rule out “late 2025” as a possibility.

That also means we won’t see the Fujifilm X-T6, X-Pro4 (or X-Pro5, X-Pro6), X-H3, X-H3S, X-T60, X-E6, X100VII, GFX100III, GFX100SIII, or GFX100RFII this year.

And yes, I know plenty of supposed “spec leaks” about these cameras are floating around—but they’re all fake, as we explained here.

Bottom line: it’s all AI-generated nonsense, stuffed with random specs. Every day there’s a new “upcoming” Fujifilm camera announcement.

Some of these videos gather tons of views and lots of comments, so I want to stress it once more: it’s fake.

And yes, I sometimes feel like a lonely Don Quixote, tilting at the windmills of fake rumors with little hope (illusion) of winning this battle. But what matters is staying true to yourself and bring excitement in the Fujifilm community only when it is real, verified, and worth celebrating. So I’ll leave the fake rumors to others. Shall they boost their traffic and make money by misleading people with all sorts of fake rumors. We’ll stay out of this game.

Anyway, the wait for the Fujifilm X-T6 and friends might be a bit longer than we’d like, but it’s much easier to stay patient when you’ve got the ultra-awesome Fujifilm X-E5 in your hands ;)
