X30

We first heard about the X30 thanks to xjrumo back in July  here.

On December 30th digicame-info confirmed that Fuji is ready to launch the X30. According to digicame-info it will be announced in February/March here.

Just now an anonymous source told me via rumor box that:

  • it’s correct, Fuji will launch the X30
  • it won’t come in February/March, but later (the source just said “summer”).

You know it: anonymous source = take it with a tiny grain of salt.

Both, the X20 and XQ1 are currently discounted until the 1st of March:

X20: get it for $499 (save $100) at AmazonUS, BHphoto and Adorama (+4% reward)
XQ1: get tit for $399 (save $100) at AmazonUS, BHphoto and Adorama.

Feel free to contact Fujirumors, also completely anonymously via rumor box, and to share your knowledge with the whole FR-community. You can give yourself an imaginary name, so that I can recognize you in future… or create a fake email account. Any help is really appreciated.

xjrumo says: Fuji working on the X30! Sensor bigger than 1″

The Chinese site xjrumo claims to have the following information from trusted sources: Fuji is working on a new compact camera. According to xjrumo (translation here) it will have a fixed zoom lens and the sensor should be bigger than 1″!

I’ve immediately checked it with my trusted sources and here is what I can say until now:

Fuji could launch 3 more cameras this year (FR-sources).

1) FR-sources: Cheap non X-Trans APS-C interchangeable lens camera.

2) xjrumo source: compact camera with sensor bigger than 1″ and fixed zoom lens (X30). With such a camera Fuji would challenge the [shoplink 13127]Sony RX100[/shoplink] and the brand new RX100II.

3) ? (work in progress ;))

I can’t confirm the rumor of xjrumo until now but I’m working on it. I hope I can come back with fresh (and reliable) rumors as soon as possible. But it seems that the [shoplink 13828]X-M1[/shoplink] was just the beginning.

stay tuned
Patrick

P.S.: what would be your dream camera number 3?

Surprise? Fujifilm GFX100 II Sensor Could be Even Faster than we Thought (Anonymous Source)

So guys.

I can confirm it.

The Fujifilm GFX100 II will come with a new 100 megapixel sensor.

Now, in our previous rumors we told you it would be based on the sensor architecture of the Sony A6700/FX30 sensor. Hence a BSI sensor that is faster to read out than previous generation of BSI sensor (in use on X-T4, X-S20, GFX100S, GFX100 etc).

But now an anonymous source reached out to us and told us that the Fujifilm GFX100 II will use a different design compared to the A6700/FX30 sensor.

The source said that while the A6700/FX30 offers a 10-20% speed increase over the conventional BSI sensor, this new sensor in use on the GFX100 II will offer up to 50% increase in readout speed.

And just to be clear, we are not talking about a stacked sensor, but an improved BSI sensor, hence this also fits with the rumor we shared earlier.

Now, this information comes from an anonymous sources, so it has to be taken with a grain of salt.

In any case we can be sure that it is indeed a new sensor and we can expect overall speed improvements on the Fujifilm GFX100 II.

Then, how much faster it is to read out, we will find out on September 12.

Which Film Simulation Would You Like to Get Next?

We have shared the rumor that Fujifilm will launch a new film simulation on September 12.

So the question now is: which film would you like to get on Fujifilm cameras in digital format with the next film simulation*?

It does not have to be an original Fujifilm film stock, but it can be inspired by film of any brand.

Just note that if Fujifilm would use a competitors’ film stock as base for the new film simulations, for legal reasons they  would change the name into something else.

For example, Classic Chrome is inspired by Kodak emulsions as Fuji insiders explained us here.

So, feel free to let us know in the comments down below what you’d like to see next.

*usually film simulations are inspired by film emulsions (Velvia & Co), or by certain photographic movements, as it was the case for the “American New Color” inspiration for Nostalgic Negative (full story here).

LEAKED: This is the New Sensor of the Fujifilm GFX100 Successor

Finally we can share the final detail about the Fujifilm GFX100 successor sensor.

According to trusted sources, the Fujifilm GFX100 successor will sport a new 100 megapixel sensor based on the sensor architecture of the Sony A6700 and Sony FX30.

So still 100 megapixel BSI (not stacked), but optimized for faster sensor readout compared to the current 100MP sensor in use on the GFX100/S as well as in its APS-C format on the Fujifilm X-T3, X-T4, X-S20 etc.

We will have to see what benefit this sensor brings in real life, but on paper (and from what we can see on the Sony A6700), the faster sensor readout leads to less rolling shutter especially in video, allows for faster processing of files and potentially just speeds up the camera overall in terms of autofocus, EVF blackout and more.

The perfect solution to speed up the GFX system without going the super expensive stacked sensor route.
