BREAKING RECORDS: The Unstoppable Rise of Fujifilm Instax Continues

Share

The Japanese Nikkei has published an article about the Fujifilm Instax business.

  • by 2025, Instax sales will have increased more than 3 times compared to 2015
  • by 2025 Fujifilm will have increased Instax production by 40% compared to 2021 to catch up with the demand
  • the Instax marketing team has increased by 5 times in the last 10 years
  • imaging division is Fujifilm’s second largest segment after health care division
  • The operating profit margin on sales is about 20%, the highest in all sectors

Now these are numbers we can only dream of for the digital camera and lenses segment. But the last report we got from Fujifilm about the X/GFX centric performance was quite positive too.

Below I will just list a few articles about what Fujifilm should do to ensure huge success to the X and GFX series going forward.

The Future Sigma and Tamron APS-C lenses in Patents – Vote the Lens You’d Like to Get

Share

In July we wrote a very popular article about Fujifilm’s future based on patents Fuji has filed.

And of course not only Fujifilm is filing all sorts of patents. Also other brands do.

So out of curiosity I’ve looked back into which APS-C lenses Sigma and Tamron have patented.

Patented APS-C lenses by Sigma and Tamron

Which of the ones above would you like to see become real? Vote below.

But always keep in mind: it’s not said that patents will materialize into a real product, as we explained more precisely here.

You Can Now Use Fujifilm X Mount Lenses (with Autofocus) on Nikon Z Cameras with BORYOZA FX-Z Adapter

Share

Wonderful news for Nikon Z shooters.

There will be soon an autofocus adapter, that will allow Nikon Z camera owners to use Fujifilm X mount lenses on their cameras, with autofocus.

It’s the BORYOZA FX-Z AF lens adapter.

The adapter is already listed at some Japanese stores and I guess it is just a matter of time until we can find it also at the Boryoza Amazon Storefront here.

You can see the first images in this article, provided to the internet by the Japanese guys running asobinet.

  • The thinnest AF adapter on the market
  • Compatible with AF and automatic aperture
  • Supports image stabilization of X-mount lenses
  • EXIF information
  • Firmware can be updated
  • 1480 yuan (converted to $208)

Nikon has made some nice steps into the vintage looking mirrorless camera market with the Nikon Zfc and the Nikon Zf.

But for many reasons we noted in this article here, I consider the Fujifilm X system still the far superior choice if you are looking into owning a vintage looking camera. One of them is the lack of lenses with aperture ring for the Nikon Z mount. Well, now that’s no longer a problem thanks to this adapter, if the adapter allows also for aperture control via dedicated ring on the lens.

It also solves the issue of not having enough dedicated APS-C lenses for Z mount APS-C cameras like the Nikon Zfc.

It remains to see how well it works in real life use, though.

Top Gear 2023

So we told: there are no more Fujifilm announcements in 2023

And while in 2023 we might still get maybe some manual of even this new third party autofocus lens as well as the Meike AF 55mm f/1.4, a few more Yongnuo lenses and the first Brightin Star AF 50mm f/1.4, but those will come either in late December or next year, so we are basically done with pretty much anything.

This means it’s time for you guys to let us know what you consider the top gear announced in 2023.

Quick note: the list includes cameras and lenses with autofocus or at least electronic contacts.
