New Fuji X Secrets Starter Workshop in Germany

March 19 marks the date of the first Fuji X Secrets Starter workshop. The full-day seminar is hosted by Rico Pfirstinger and targets new users and DSLR converts who want to make the most out of their new X-series camera.

x-fujifilm-system_body_lens_white-1Did you know that factory settings only unleash a small portion of your X camera’s potential? Rico Pfirstinger’s new Fuji X Secrets Starter workshop offers you a better alternative and tells you exactly what settings to change, and why.

The full-day seminar covers your camera’s exposure modes and demonstrates how to use the live view and live histogram to perfectly expose each shot. It also explains Fuji’s powerful (but little known) DR function that not only helps extending the dynamic range, but can also be used to create high-key images or enhance portraits.

Logo FUJIFILMSchool sw_Kooperation_SloganWhat AF mode is best for different situations, which AF frame size are we supposed to pick, and how can we best track moving subjects? How do we shoot attractive portraits in bad light, and what are the pros and cons of using face detection or the optical image stabilizer? What can we do with the built-in RAW converter? Ricos’s workshop provides solid and practical answers to these and many other issues, offering insights on everything you always wanted to know about X, but were afraid to ask.

Fuji X Secrets Starter is made available in cooperation with FUJIFILMSchool and will be held on March 19 from 10 a.m. till 6 p.m. at Fotohaus Brinke in 91301 Forchheim, Germany. The workshop costs 149 EUR (incl. VAT) and is held in German. There’s a maximum of 10 participants. Please click here for more information.

Fujifilm X-Pro2 “Reset Issue” :: How to Avoid Your X-Pro2 Customs Settings to be Reset to Factory Settings!

fas

Fujifilm X-Pro2 – IN STOCK CHECK: USA: BHphoto / AmazonUS / Adorama / CANADA: AmazonCA / EUROPE: AmazonDE / AmazonUK / WexUK / PCHstore / AmazonITA / AmazonFR / AmazonESP / AUSTRALIA: CameraPro

_ _ _

There have been several reports here at the Fuji X Forum, about X-shooters setting all the custom functions on their Fujifilm X-Pro2, but they went all lost and the camera reset to the factory settings later on.

The reason for this is that the internal backup battery has not enough power to keep your settings, when the Fujifilm NP-W126 battery is removed or runs out of power (or any third party battery – check out this test about the best third party batteries)

To avoid this issue please ensure to fully charge your battery and do not remove it (or make it run out of power) for the first 24 hours. This will give your X-Pro2 enough time to charge the internal battery, which will then have sufficient power to keep your settings even if the battery is removed or empty.

Also please note, as written in the X-Pro2 Owner’s Manual (which I warmly recommend to read!):

If the battery is removed for an extended period, the camera clock will be reset and the language-selection dialog will be displayed when the camera is turned on.”

If the problem still persists even after letting a charged battery in the X-Pro2 for 24 hours, then you should contact your local Fuji support.

UPDATE: First Feedback from FR-readers in the comments: “The fact is, the battery is NOT the issue. How do I know? Mine reset without removing a fully charged battery for over 18 hours, still not removing it, just switched off the camera to change a lens, and switched it back on. Again, I DID NOT REMOVE THE BATTERY. Let’s be very clear.” If this occurs also to your X-Pro2, keep up sharing in the comments… you know that Fujifilm reads this blog.

You can be sure I’ll keep an eye on it!

If you find what you consider bugs or any issue related to the X-Pro2, feel free to share it here in the comments and/or at the dedicated X-Pro2 section of the Fuji X ForumX-Pro 2 FW 1.0 Problems / Quirks.

I hope this helps every X-Pro2 Shooter to avoid the “reset-issue”… and enjoy shooting with it :-)

cheers

TESTED: Third Party Fuji Batteries? “Inflated capacity values. Some batteries almost Fraud!”… and the Winner is…?

Fuji Manager: “We’re not really interested in Medium Format. Focus on lenses!” :: X-Pro2 Review: “Anyone saying there’s no ISO improvement must be smoking something good”

The Spanish site dslrmagazine (translation) met Fuji Managers at the CP+. Here some excerpts from the interview:

There is a little known fact: in Thailand, for example, X-A series outsells Canon!

We are not really interested in the medium format; our intention, for now, is to focus on the lenses. We just announced a 2x teleconverter for the X series, available for the summer.

Today, already offer 21 different lenses. According to our market research, which demand more now users of the system X is a telephoto “prime” and also other wider and more compact lenses like the Fujinon XF 35mm f / 2 R LM WR. And, who knows, maybe also a “fish eye”, and of course, some day, a Tilt & Shift.

I tell you… don’t take that “we are not really interested in medium format” too seriously ;)

X-Pro2 review

Fuji X-Pro2 initial thoughts and a model shoot at mikecroshaw:

AF speed..seemed very good, and a step in my opinion from the X-T1.  The EVF is a joy to use and so smooth now, I used it in a dimly lit pub and it was just superb. I’ve only tested AF-S and single point AF,as that is what I mostly use.  I’ll test the continuous focus when I get a chance in a week or so.

Image quality – top notch as you would expect, I’ve not really tested super high ISOs but I did accidentally shoot a shot at ISO8000 this morning and it looked a lot better than the X-T1 would have.  Anyone saying there is no ISO improvement must be smoking something good.  In terms of real life use, the improvement is totally apparent to me, I don’t care about charts and pixel peeping, if I’m shooting in a dark pub or church with the X-Pro2 using the same lenses as the X-T1 I get better results, that’s all I care about.
