Poll: Vote the future lens you want from Fuji!

A couple of weeks ago I asked the Fujirumors reader to send me their wishlist for future X mount lenses. We know the official Fuji X roadmap (see image on top) But what exactly should come after it?

I summed up your suggestions and tried to group them in a way that it makes sense. Please note that your dream lens may not be on the list, but you can always vote what’s similar to it. The poll may will give us and Fuji the idea what kind of lens is needed:

Should the lens be faster (and therefore bigger) than the current F2?

Fuji X PRO 1 marked as discontinued in some stores…

Some stores like for example Camerastore Australia marked the X PRO 1 as “discontinued“. Just to make it clear, that’s no proof at all that an X PRO 2 is on the horizon. Stores sometimes discontinue products for different specific reasons. But n X PRO 2 is due for a 2013 release and it’s time to talk about how the X PRO 2 should be to make it a nice camera!

Fuji X100s versus RX1…an unfair comparison :)

(Click on the image to see a full size version)

Yesterday Quesabesde posted the full Fuji X20 review. Today Quesabesde (translation here) posted the full Fuji X100s test. And they also compared the [shoplink 6127]X100s[/shoplink] performance with the more than twice as expensive [shoplink 8981]Sony RX1 Full Frame camera[/shoplink]. Quesabesde writes: “Although the RX1, equipped with a full-format CMOS 24 megapixels and a Carl Zeiss 35mm f2, represents the pinnacle of quality in a compact camera, Fujifilm’s new model is able to hold the stake.

I am not sure there is really a market for a Full Frame compact model a là RX1. But I imagine A Fuji X1s model with FF sensor could outperform the Sony RX1. But, let me know…

Do you want a Touch Screen

New Zeiss X-mount lenses to be announced soon?

While we are still waiting to get some news about the future X cameras we may soon get new X-mount lenses! Not from Fuji…from Zeiss! Some sources confirmed that Zeiss will announce three new X-mount primes in early April. Those are the 12mm f/2.8, 32mm f/1.8 and 50mm f/2.8. All priced at around 1.000 Euro and all with electronic Aperture and Autofocus control.

Two of the lenses may a bit too close to current Fuji offerings. The 12mm f/2.8 Zeiss will be a tiny bit wider but also more expensive than our Fuji 14mm f/2.8 (Price check at [shopcountry 6152]). And the 32mm f/1.8 will be slower and more expensive than the already very good Fuji 35mm f/1.4 (Price check at [shopcountry 386]). At the end the 50mm f/2.8 is likely the most unique lens within the X range.

Now it’s up to you….

Which equivalent focal length would you prefer?
