Weather sealed X body design inspired by the Fujica ST

 photo fujci_zpsed61407a.jpg

So, I told you that I would have some spare time today. Therefore, as promised, here is an update about the weather sealed X coming at the CES in January.

A source, who was right in the past, just told me that the new weather sealed X coming in January will have a FujicaST-like design.

Now, a new source previously compared the design to the one of the [shoplink 13887]OM-D E-M5[/shoplink]… which one do you like more? Vote the poll at the bottom.

So here is an updated rumor list about the weather sealed X, all launched by Fujirumors.

  • bigger and better EVF
  • APS-C X-Trans II
  • double SD-card slot
  • weather sealed body
  • launch in January (CES)
  • price range between X-E and X-PRO line
  • FujicaST-like design
  • work in progress :)

Feel free to retweet and like this rumor on facebook on twitter, to post it an all other sites, to talk about it in Forums… and I’ve nothing against it if you quote the source (or write the “you-know-what” site ;))”

You can contact me at fujirumor@gmail.com or also completely anonymously via rumor box… and spread the word via facebook, google+ and twitter

Here is the poll. PLEASE NOTE: This is just a design comparison and NOT a size comparison.

Reviews

– The full admiringlight review is online here: “Overall image quality with the X-E2 is on a very high level. The low noise, great color and excellent dynamic range are combined with a sort of ‘it’ factor with the images, which have a depth that is unusually rich for an APS-C sensor. […] Fuji’s JPEGs are good enough that I don’t feel particularly limited if I choose to shoot JPEG. […] The Fujifilm X-E2 really has nothing aside from a lackluster video mode that holds it back in the mirrorless space.  If you’re a stills shooter like me, that’s a pretty minor point.  The Fujifilm X-E2 is a pleasure to shoot.  It is a responsive body with wonderful, focused controls, and the resulting images are outstanding.  Highly recommended.”

– FR-reader Vibranze took some shots with the X-E2 and the [shoplink 12946 ebay]Samyang fisheye lens[/shoplink]. See his Flickr here.

– Bert’s thoughts on the X-E2 at confessionsxl here: “The electronic viewfinders on most of the most recent cameras (including the X-E2) have come to the point were those technological limitations aren’t much of a problem anymore, if at all. They also offer the what-you-see-is-what-you-get advantage before you even have to push the shutter. I also noticed that the X-E2 can see in the dark. In very dark situations you can still see what’s happening in the viewfinder, that’s something even the clearest optical viewfinder of a DSLR can’t do.  I’m pretty confident that in a couple of years optical viewfinders will be a thing of the past or nothing more than a nostalgia feature.” And also here the question is: upgrade or not?

XF23mm reviews at Olafblog and Phoblographer (editor’s choice award)

 photo av_zpsa446246a.png

Fuji XF 23mm: [shopcountry 16128]

1) Olaf‘s XF23mm review (with a lot of beautiful shots) can be read here: “The resolution is great at 1.4, gets very strong at 2.0, and becomes heavenly between 5.6 and 11. For me personally, the 23 mm focal length is a sweet spot. If I were to choose one focal length to shoot with, that would be it. Not only does it allow you to capture beautiful landscapes and work on documentary photography and streetscapes but you can go ahead and take some creative portraits with it.”

2) Lot’s of PRO’s and just one real CON according to thephoblograher here: it’s expensive. “The XF23mm get’s the editors choice award! “Though the Fujifilm 23mm f1.4 is expensive, could be sharper wide open, and faces off against competitors with better bokeh it is being awarded our Editor’s Choice rating. Why? Overall, it is the most versatile lens that you can use for the Fujifilm X series system and we considering to be the single best lens for Street Photography using mirrorless cameras out there. This is due to the autofocus offering and the clearly readable depth of field scale on the lens when shooting with the zone focusing method. For what it’s worth, the lens will help you to create beautiful images that you’ll be incredibly proud of.”
