FUJIFILM Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Yoshikazu Goto) will release the “FUJINON Lens XF23mmF2.8 R WR” (hereinafter “XF23mmF2.8 R WR”) in December 2025 as part of the “XF Lens” lineup of interchangeable lenses for the “X Series” mirrorless digital camera, which achieves outstanding image quality and compactness and light weight through its unique color reproduction technology. In addition, a lens kit with the mirrorless digital camera “FUJIFILM X-E5”, which was announced at the same time today, will be available from August 2025.

The “XF23mmF2.8 R WR” is a 23mm focal length lens (equivalent to 35mm in 35mm format) that combines an ultra-compact and lightweight design with high resolution performance. While achieving high resolution performance compatible with the approximately 40.2 megapixel “X-Trans ™ CMOS 5 HR” *1 sensor, the latest lens processing technology has made the lens thinner, and the exterior and structural parts have been slimmed down to an ultra-compact size of just 23mm *2 in total length and weighing approximately 90g. In addition to its versatility in handling a variety of shooting situations, including standard, wide-angle, and close-up, it also offers high operability and toughness. It is ideal for a variety of scenes, including snapshots, portraits, landscapes, and table photos of food and flowers placed on a table. With its high portability and shooting performance, the “XF23mmF2.8 R WR” is a lens that you will want to carry with you at all times as a companion that demonstrates its power in any shooting scene.

2. Product features

(1) Ultra-compact, lightweight design combined with high resolution

    • The lens is made up of eight elements in six groups, including two aspherical lenses, which minimizes aberrations from the center to the edges, achieving high resolution performance.
    • The latest processing technology has been used to thin the lens, and the strength has been ensured by increasing the number of metal parts on the exterior. This has made it possible to achieve a compact and lightweight lens with a total length of just 23 mm and a weight of 90 g, making it the smallest and lightest in its class *3 in the XF lens lineup.
  • The 11-blade aperture diaphragm enables you to enjoy snapshots that highlight the subject with beautiful circular bokeh, as well as close-up photography of small objects.

(2) Close-up shooting at a minimum distance of 20 cm and high-precision, high-speed AF

  • With a minimum shooting distance of just 20cm, you can enjoy taking photos in any situation, including tabletop and travel photos.
  • The lens employs a focusing system that extends the entire lens group, suppressing changes in aberration due to focus position and enabling high-quality shooting even at close range.
  • The powerful DC motor enables high-precision, high-speed AF. Because you can carry it with you anywhere, you can enjoy a shooting experience that never misses a moment.

(3) Stylish, easy-to-use design and durability

  • In addition to paying particular attention to the texture and color of the exterior, we adopted a slanted design in which the lens housing tapers toward the front, resulting in a stylish, high-quality appearance.
  • A high-precision sensor is used in the manual focus ring, allowing you to adjust the focus with fewer turns. This enables delicate operation of the manual focus ring to suit your shooting intent, supporting comfortable shooting.
  • A fixed ring is placed between the manual focus ring and aperture ring to prevent one ring from getting tangled when turning the other, ensuring comfortable operability.
  • The lens mount part has an anti-slip coating to hold the lens body firmly when changing lenses, helping to make changing lenses smoother.
  • The lens barrel is sealed in nine places to make it dustproof, weatherproof, and able to withstand temperatures as low as -10°C, so you can use it safely even in light rain or dusty environments.
