Reminder: Tomorrow Fuji X-E1 and XF1 (or XG1) announcement!
Good Morning!
This is just a short message to remind you that tomorrow Fuji will announce two new X cameras. These are the X-E1 specs:
- Same 16MP sensor as in the X-Pro1 (with max ISO of 25,600)
- 6 fps
- Light magnesium body
- Improved AF speed
- Price: bellow $1000
- To be released before Christmas
- Same video recording capabilities as the X-Pro1
- Mic input
- EVF only (not hybrid as the X-Pro1)
- Two colors: black and silver
- Pull 25 ISO to simulate Velvia in JPEG mode
Can’t wait to see it for real! Hope they have fixed soem of the AF and Sensor issues of the X-PRO 1. P.S.: There is a massive price drop on the X PRO 1 when purchased along one of the X lenses at Amazon (Click here to see the X PRO 1 dedicated deal page).

9 months ago |I was waiting to see what the Sony NEX-6 is like, however with the NEX-5R’s PDAF only supporting native lenses (and not A-Mount via LA-EA1) I think I will be looking at the Fuji instead. Love my X100, X-Pro1 is nice but expensive considering it’s flaws, this looks like the interchangeable X100 I have been waiting for! If they can improve the AF to solid levels, I am definitely sold.

9 months ago |Even though the X-E1 seems amazing (and it seems they improved the AF), it’s just never going to be as pocketable as the X100. It’s just so easy to have the X100 with me and shoot great quality all the time. I was hoping for an X200 as a quicker X100 with responsive AF. It would have been enough and the last camera I would ever need to buy.

9 months ago |I originally purchased an X-Pro1 but recently returned it. I liked the X-Pro1, but it was “too much”: the lack of built-in flash was tedious, requiring a $300 addition which added substantial weight and separate power source; I also found I didn’t need / use the hybrid viewfinder. Hopefully the X-E1 will immediately available with the 18-55mm lens.

But what i dont understand is why Fuji announce these two cameras tomorrow when photokina is coming up in a couple of weeks?
Then they dont have anything to announce/show at photokina?

Or maybe they save something to show at photokina? .x200 is what i hope for, but it seems unlikely

9 months ago |I wouldn’t worry, they will have plenty to show at photokina. Besides, announcing them separately from photokina gives them more attention.

9 months ago |They just do what other manufacturers use to do the day prior to the event itself. Just look around and notice how many announcements are going on these days and scheduled for next week.

9 months ago |Everybody pre announces everything these days either though official announcements like Fuji will have on 5 Sept or Nikon will have on 13 Sept or by carefully staged leaks like Apple are fond of doing.
If Fuji announce anything at a show as big as Photokina it will simply be lost amongst the slobbering over the latest Nikon, Canon and Leica products by doing it on 5 Sept BEFORE the other “official” announcements they get a day or two clear air where they will be the headline act.

9 months ago |Don’t forget that the $300 discount also applies when you shop at B&H. However, I believe B&H give you a $300 discount (i.e. cash savings), whereas Amazon still requires you to pay full price for your camera and lens, but then they give you a $300 Visa gift card as well. Amazon’s deal is 99% the same as saving $300 cash, but not quite….

9 months ago |over at photorumors they just published article claiming that announcement will be tomorrow, what’s interesting though is info about EVF:
The X-E1 will have a 2,360k dots OLED EVF with a 1:5000 contrast ratio (similar to the Sony a99)
The optical part of the EVF will have a double ASPH element and diopter correction
