Lenstip tests the 60mm macro: “it is the best X lens!”

We had no doubt the 60mm macro lens was the best of the first three X lenses launched back in January along the X PRO 1. Lenstip published the full review and said: “Out of three lenses, launched along the Fujifilm X-Pro1, the 2.4/60 model has the best pros to cons ratio“.Here is the pro and cosn list:

Pros:

  • solid and high quality casing,
  • very good resolution in the frame centre,
  • good resolution on the edge of the frame,
  • excellent correction of chromatic aberration,
  • slight spherical aberration,
  • good coma correction,
  • negligible astigmatism,
  • moderate vignetting,
  • good transmission.

Cons:

  • noticeable distortion,
  • unreliable autofocus,
  • work against bright light could have been better.

  • I don’t think that they say it is the best… “Does it mean it is the best? It would be difficult to answer such a question unambiguously”

Is it really the generally held opinion that the 60 is the best?

  • If the 60 is the best then the guy who tested it is not a photographer. Also, if he thinks the 60 is the best, then I hate to think how bad the worst is! The 60 is so bad that it is not fit for purpose. It flares violently, the AF is so slow and also so inaccurate that if you actually get a shot in focus it’s because the subject was dead or nailed to the floor. I guess these reviewers must get paid to write such rubbish.

  • Reviewers didnt say it was the best, thats correct. I believe someone here simply wants to draw attention to this post . Would say they were cautious with their opinions and overall 60 doesnt have a good reputation. check Zack Arias blog and others pro reviews to know more about this and other lenses..

  • The operating word here is the “X”, it is the best “X” lens, how many “X” lens out there to warrant a comparison?

  • here X means “ex” as it has been discontinued. They are now just selling current stock, after which it will no longer be available. They got it wrong, so they’re replacing it with the 58mm lens without macro.

    • nope

  • I think actually 35mm 1.4 is the best Fuji X lens

    • …this
