Fuji X-E1 wins the Photokina STAR 2012 award

And here it comes the first price for the new Fuji X-E1! Read the following official Fuji press release:

FUJIFILM Corporation (President: Shigehiro Nakajima) is proud to announce the second X series interchangeable lens camera FUJIFILM X-E1 has won the “photokina STAR 2012” award sponsored by PHOTO PRESSE and “digit!” magazines traditionally awarded at Photokina. The photokina STAR award honors products and concepts that stand out for their innovative nature and their trendsetting technologies.
Following hot on the heels of the highly acclaimed FUJIFILM X-Pro1, the X-E1 boasts the same 16 megapixel APS-C X-Trans CMOS Sensor with top-class OLED electronic viewfinder, a smaller body with built-in flash and the same X mount for the FUJINON XF lens series.
With its convenient portable size and fast autofocus speed with the kit zoom lens XF18-55mmF2.8-4 R LM OIS, the X-E1 promises to be an exciting addition to the X series range. Due to hit the market in autumn this year, and available in two variations Silver and Black, the attractive classical design of the X-E1 interchangeable lens camera will have wide appeal.

  • well done fuji!!!!

  • I second that!

  • Haa… the star of the small world. The king of sub FF world. Darling of the consumer crowd.

Now, where is my FF X-200 ?

    • JC you’re having the same comment on practically every post, no offense, it’s getting quite boring… Why don’t you buy a Sony RX1 and leave this forum to those who are happy without FF?

      • +1

      • Jc, you sound like a broken record +1 on buying the rx1 ( no offence intended towards the rx1) Should I be turfing my Mk4 because its not full frame? The xe1 is an interesting little camera for its intended market can’t wait for it to hit the shelves, especially now there is quite a choice of lenses getting released, I can see these selling like hot cakes.

    • Yes, you’re right. There are too many and boring demands on the forums for FF, so that there are great technological challenges to get there: lens size, problems related to flange distance for wide angles. Brands are feeding rumors to keep customers in their camp. But I tell you that if you wait for an achieved FF mirorless, you may not take pictures for a long time. In the meantime, given that the majority of photographers do with their photos, APS-C is perfectly fine, especially in a range such as the Fuji XE-1.
