Fuji X-E1 sales started in Asia. Coming late October in EU and US.

Our lucky Asian friends can now get their hands on the new Fuji X-E1. You can now find plenty of cameras on eBay Asia (Click here) and Digitalrev (Click here). EU and US readers will have to wait til late October or early November (See shipping date at BHphoto). If for some reason you can’t afford to wait you can buy the camera at Digitalrev (Click here) which ships worldwide and is a highly recommended and reliable store. Of course you have to know that import taxes can be very high depending from the country where you live.

8 months ago |I too want to hear the verdict on the zoom lens. However, the other big factor with the X-E1 is the EVF, and the sooner its out, the sooner we’ll hear how good it is.
Btw, it’s great to see Fuji selling their cameras in Japan at no premium to the US price. In Japan, Nikon’s cameras cost at least 20% more on release than in the US. The D3200 was kit was 85,000 yen, nearly 50% more than the $700 charged by Amazon and B&H. They really rip their home market off.

8 months ago |The x-e1 was not supposed to be kitted with the 35mm, yes? Maybe the 18-55 zoom was not ready to hit the shelves already. That’s a bit strange, it looks like Fuji can’t wait to put their x-e1 on the market, perhaps to increase the sells of their primes.
Given the price of the x-e1 + 18-55 kit, it will be a no brainer for me and I will wait till availability in my country. I predict the 18-55 to be very good. I wonder however if the x-e1 + 35mm kit will be available in US/Europe. Depending on the price, I might consider it.

8 months ago |At least in Finland you can only order the kit with the zoom. No primes.
The kit is 1349,90 €, body only 949,90 €.

8 months ago |from the video on youtube from Gueorgui Pinkhassov he said that the zoom lens is not sharp

8 months ago |I can only judge off the subtitles, a translation of what he’s saying, but wasn’t it “I like how its not too sharp” (?)
If it’s left at f2.0, I guess you could say the same about the X100. It’s still a great camera though. It may sound like a cliche, but its hard to quantify what it’s actually doing. The images just look really good.
Compared to the X100, I’m actually a bit worried about inability to set min shutter speed for autoiso with the X-E1. With the X100, my wife and kids can chimp off the back without camera shake being much of a problem. Yeah its poor technique, but that’s how cameras get used in the real world.

8 months ago |The X-E1 was sold bundled with the 35mm in Hong Kong for $9999HKD (~$1285 USD) at limited quantity (999 units). It took place last Saturday. I predict the X-E1 will ship sooner rather than later for the rest of the world.

8 months ago |Tom, where could you buy it? Any physical store in HK? I’m going there next week and would buy this combo in an instant at this price.

8 months ago |~$1285 USD wow! That means 685$ for the body. I would buy the kit at that price

8 months ago |Australian RRP for the X-E1 body only is Aus$1199 (US$1235) but that includes all taxes. At the moment you can easily buy a X-Pro1 body in Australia for Aus$1250 and I have heard stories of people getting them under Aus$1100.
On that basis I’m picking that the street price of the X-E1 will fall very quickly.
The zoom lens adds Aus$400 to the kit price.
Due late October.

8 months ago |Here’s an update for Hong Kong as of 2nd October. I found the X-E1 for sale in Fuji’s sole official shop in HK. Given the apparent superiority of the X-E1′s EVF compared to the X-Pro1, I’m considering selling off my X-Pro1 now while the used price is still relatively good and picking this up in its place.
