New Firmware Features Guide for Fujifilm X-T4 and X-S10 (and New Firmware for X100V, X-Pro3, GFX100S, GFX100)

Earlier today Fujifilm has released these firmware updates for the following cameras: X-T4, X-S10, X-Pro3, X100V, GFX100S and GFX100.

And since the firmware for the Fujifilm X-T4 and Fujifilm X-S10 add support for the Tascam CA-XLR2d-F XLR, Fujifilm did release also a New Features Guide for these two cameras.

A future update should bring support for Tascam CA-XLR2d-F XLR also to the Fujifilm GFX100S.

Fujifilm Firmware Updates for X-T4, X100V, X-Pro3, X-S10, GFX100S and GFX100

Fujifilm has released firmware updates for the Fujifilm X-T4 and Fujifilm X-S10 to add support for the Tascam CA-XLR2d-F XLR as well as new firmware for the X-Pro3, X100V, GFX100S and GFX100.

Fujifilm Firmware Updates for X100V, X-E4, X-Pro3, X-T30II, GFX50R, GFX50SII

As we reported earlier this month, Fujifilm discovered a bug happening with twelve of their cameras when used with Mac computers.

The first batch of firmware had been released a few days ago here and was for the following cameras: X-T4, X-T3, X-S10, GFX100S, GFX100 and GFX50S.

Now six more Fujifilm cameras received an update. All the links and firmware details can be found down below.

National Geographic: “Fujifilm Reigning Champion of 2022 Best Travel Cameras”

National Geographic has compiled their annual list of best travel cameras. For 2022 Fujifilm comes out as their top recommendation.

Here is their list:

  • Fujifilm X-T4 – currently on Black Friday discount
    “This camera can go toe-to-toe with professional full-frame mirrorless models and DSLRs in performance, autofocus, image quality, and handling. And as last camera, probably Fujifilm’s best if you are on a budget and yet want tons of power.

  • Fujifilm X-S10 – BHphoto / AmazonUS / Adorama / Moment / Focuscamera

    “This model takes almost everything we love about the Fujifilm X-T4 and offers it up at an excellent price, with even better ergonomics and minimal tradeoffs. The only major downgrades from the X-T4 to the X-S10 are a smaller battery, only one memory card slot, no official weather sealing, a smaller viewfinder, and other features such as a lower top shutter speed (which only serious photographer will miss). Other than that, this option has the same internal electronics as the X-T4, thus making it the most affordable new model of APS-C mirrorless camera with IBIS. In all, it may be the best deal on the whole list.

Speaking of travel photography, I recently had to spend one night in the wonderful town of Ferrara for some medical checks (all good!). I did bring my X-E3 and X-T4 with me. And for the first time ever, I’ve found good use also for photography of the X-T4 selfie screen. So I guess I must retract my statement that selfie screens are never of use if you stand behind the camera. See the image down below.

Fujifilm GFX50R Discontinued, Zero Rumors About GFX50RII and Dreams About GFX100R

It’s over.

According to reports at digitalcameraworld, the Fujifilm GFX50R is now discontinued.

As a huge Fujifilm X-E line lover, the Fujifilm GFX50R would have been my most natural step into Fujifilm medium format.

However, as I don’t switch from X-Trans APS-C to Full Frame because the difference is negligible (and with lots of advantages on the APS-C side, too), I also thought that sure, going from 26 to 50 MP is OK, but at this point I prefer to go all-in and grab a 100 megapixel medium format Fujifilm GFX100S.

If there was a Fujifilm GFX100R, I’d have grabbed that one. But it looks like all I can do is to hope that one day in the future Fujifilm will give us either a Fujifilm GFX100R or an X-T styled GFX100 (as shown in these official Fujifilm prototypes).

But don’t get me wrong.

A camera with a PSAM dial, a dedicated custom settings dial and top LCD is stupidly easy and fast to operate. The total opposite of the original GFX100, which is the only Fujifilm camera I’ve ever hold in my hands where I thought “WTF, need to grab that owners manual“.

But I can’t really fall in love with cameras that are stupidly easy to use, I prefer those who are FUN to operate. Like my X-E or X-T cameras.

So, my wish for the GFX future are a GFX100R and GFX100T. But so far, I have absolutely zero rumors about it. And for the records, I have also zero rumors about a Fujifilm GFX50RII.

In any case, if you are also attracted by the rangefinder styled medium format Fujifilm cameras, then better grab yours now, as who knows for how long we will find the Fujifilm GFX50R in stock now that it is discontinued.

Good bye, Fujifilm GFX50R. I was one of the very first people to touch you, back then, at the photokina 2018, where I even illegally smuggled into the fair one day ahead of its official launch to meet you. May your heritage continue to live in the GFX lineup.
