The Ultimate Fujifilm NP-W126S vs Third Party Batteries Battle

Fujifilm Batteries

We have already reported about Dom Varney’s articles “Powering the Fujifilm X-T3” and “Fujifilm NP-W126S Battery Counterfeits – A Visual Guide to Spotting the Fakes“.

He now also published the most comprehensive guide to Fujifilm original and third party batteries I have ever seen on the web so far.

The tested batteries are:

It’s a massive write-up, impossible to sum up quickly. So I’ll just share a short excerpt:

Fujifilm Fujinon GF 100-200mm f/5.6 Review: 5 Stars, Excellent in Every Single Way!

Fujinon GF 100-200mm f/5.6

Despite the fact that the Fujifilm Fujinon GF100-200mm f/5.6 is already shipping, it still does not get the coverage it deserves.

In fact, even at its launch, there was hardly any review about it.

And yet, this lens is actually pretty amazing, not only in terms of size, but especially in terms of image quality. In fact, thephoblographer writes in their review:

We award the Fujifilm GF 100-200mm f5.6 R LM OIS WR 5 stars out of 5. This lens is excellent in every single way, and it will serve anyone who uses well. You will be constantly floored with the images you can create with this lens.”

The GF100-200 coverage is still meagre, and the richest source of feedback about this lens is our immense Fujifilm GFX facebook group. Go to the group, search for “100-200” and enjoy the results. I will share a few of them down below.

But, in addition to Jonas Rask and Damien Lovegrove reviews, which you can find in our live blogging, I have found a few more.

Also Fujifilm uploaded more “monster glass” GF100-200 videos. You’ll find then below, too.

? Top Blogger Moment 2018 ?

The moment I realized, that the new XF lens roadmap disclosed by Fujifilm Japan featured exactly the top prime and top zoom lens we wanted back in February 2017. We explained how we influenced Fujifilm Japan in this article.

Now, I keep my feet well set on the ground, and I know we can’t always influence Fujifilm’s decisions. But the fact that in this case Fujifilm “copied” our Fujinon XF lens wish list and made it become reality, filled my heart with joy.

It’s a recognition that Fujifilm listens closely to what the lively FujiRumors community says and wants. So, dear readers, thanks for your immense participation, it means everything to me, and it makes everything possible :).

Runner Up: My photokina 2018 visit. It was once again super busy, but fantastic.

? Flop Blogger Moment 2018 ?

The moment I realized that Fujifilm would have made several announcements during my European road trip with my grilfriend in July (some images on my Instagram).

So it happens that I was on the road through France and Italy, trying to figure out the exact announcement dates, changing my travel schedule and hostel bookings, cancelling some day trips and so forth.

But that’s how it is. FujiRumors is a one man show. If I don’t write on it, nothing happens here.

At least the July announcements were hot! A new lens roadmap, new lenses, new cameras. So the blogging itself was exciting for me.

And regarding my girlfriend, well, a few romantic dinners later on fixed everything ;).

? Most Used Gear ?

Most used camera:

It’s game over for my lovely Fujifilm X-T1. I have maybe used it for 5% of my images since I own the Fujifilm X-E3.

I got an offer from a friend to buy my X-T1, but I am still hesitant to sell it.

My X-T1 followed me on my travels, snapped my all time favorite image, climbed the highest peaks and so much more, that I just still love it, and it’s hard for me to get rid of it.

Rationally speaking I should sell, emotionally I still can’t.

Most used zoom lens:

The Fujinon XF18-135. My copy is astonshing good. It’s the swiss army knife in my line-up. And the excellent OIS helps for low light handheld shots.

I rarely travel without my XF18-135. For example, this is one of my favorite images of 2018, and it’s taken with the XF18-135 during my road trip in France.

And since I own it, I basically never used my XF55-200 and rarely used my XF18-55, and at some point in 2019 I might sell them. The only zoom lens that I still use fairly enough to justify to keep it, is my Fujinon XF10-24.

Most used prime lens:

In late 2017, I bought the Fujinon XF27mmF2.8, probably the most underrated lens in Fuji’s line-up. At the beginning I used it all the time.

But at some point during 2018, my good old Fujinon XF 35mmF1.4 pretended its attentions, and ended up to be still my most used prime lens. That lens has some magic, I can’t explain. And that’s why it’s still my most use lens.

But I still use and love the XF27mmF2.8 quite a lot, and it’s in fact my Nr.2 prime, well ahead of my Nr.3 lens, the Fujinon XF23mm F1.4.

 ? Happy New Year 2019 ?

2019 is here…

Now you guys promise me to keep up having fun with your photography, and I promise you to put my best into FR also in 2019.

A wonderful, healthy and fun 2019 to everybody out there reading these lines.

DPReviewTV Best and Worst of 2018: Fujifilm X-T3 Beats Sony A7III and Nikon Z6, but Fujifilm X-T100 and XF10 Fail

Best Gear 2018

Chris and Jordan from DPReviewTV just published their best and worst gear 2018 epsiode.

The GOOD News:

The Fujifilm X-T3 wins the award for the best camera of 2018, beating the full frame Sony A7III and Nikon Z6.

The Fujifilm X-T3 has already been declared best camera of 2018 by many big youtubers and blogs. Check out our recent best of 2018 overview here.

The BAD News:

The Fujifilm X-T100 has been declared worst video camera of 2018, with a useless 4K. The Fujifilm XF10 is the thrid worst camera of 2018. Bad and unreliable focussing. Slow, laggy.

Dear Fujifilm, this is what happens if you put an old and slow processor in cameras that otherwise would have a very nice sensor.

The MISSING News:

Strangly, not a single Fujinon lens makes it into the list.

I believe the Fujinon XF200mmF2 would have deserved a top spot, and not to forget the Fujinon XF8-16mmF2.8 or the Fujinon GF250mmF4.

And maybe also the medium format Fujifilm GFX50R should have gotten at least an honorable mention.

BEST CAMERA 2018

  1. Fujifilm X-T3
  2. Sony A7III
  3. Nikon Z6

WORST CAMERA 2018

  1. Yashica Y35
  2. Pentax K1 II
  3. Fujifilm XF10

BEST LENS 2018

  1. Canon RF 50mm F1.2
  2. Tamron 28-75mm F2.8
  3. Sony 24mmF1.4 FE GM

WORST LENS 2018

  1. Sony 18-135mm F3.5-5.6
  2. Nikon Z lenses, particulary the 50mmF1.8. Ugly bokeh

BEST VIDEO CAMERA 2018

  1. Panasonic GH5S (FYI: no IBIS camera. And why that is good, is explained by Panasonic here)
  2. Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K
  3. DJI Mavi II Pro

WORST VIDEO CAMERA 2018

  1. Fujifilm X-T100

Fujifilm X-T3 Best Camera of 2018 according to Tony Northrup, ePhotozine and More

Fujifilm X-T3 Best of 2018

It’s the time of the year, where blogs and youtube channels declare the top gear of 2018. And as to expect, the Fujifilm X-T3 turns out at the top of the list quite often.

The Fujifilm X-T3 is the best allrounder camera on the market right now, a terrific value for money. Just take a look at the overwhelmingly enthusiastic feedback Fujifilm X-T3 customer reviews. At the end of the day, you get a lot for just $1,499, and that makes customers very happy.

And yes, many favor the Fujifilm X-T3 over the Sony A7III, even though it was a close call.

So here is an overview of the latest best of lists.

  • fujirumors – DPReview Declares Fujifilm X-T3 Best Consumer Stills/Video Camera 2018
  • fujirumors – Top Fujifilm Product 2018 – VOTE NOW
  • photographyblog -Fujifilm X-T3 Mirrorless Camera of the Year Award 2018
  • ephotozine – Fujiifilm X-T3 Best Advanced DSLR-Style Mirrorless Camera 2018
  • lensrentals – Most Popular Photography and Videography Products of 2018 (not many rent a Fujifilm)
  • ephotozine – Top 11 Best Entry Level Mirrorless Compact System Cameras 2018 (Fujifilm X-T100 ranked 11th)
  • TheHybridShooter Youtube – Best Cameras and Lenses 2018 [ Sony A7III | Fuji XT3 | GH5S | G9 ]

Tony and Chelsea Northrup (video below) declare the Fujifilm X-T3 their favorite camera of the year 2018. Incredible versatile camera. Great focussing during video, too. Great lenses and controls.

They do also say, though, that the Fujifilm has made one of the biggest overstatements of the year, by saying the Fujifilm X-T3 does shoot 30fps with AF (11/12 fps is more realistic). The Fujifilm X-H1 battery life is one of the biggest disappointments.

And speaking of Jonas…

Photokina 2019 Cancelled: Coming Back in May 2020 and Looking Back at Photokina 2018 with Fujifilm X Photographers Live Stages

Photokina 2019 2020

Kölnmesse has just issued an official press release (PDF here), that Photokina 2019 in May has been cancelled and will come back in May 2020.

It’s pretty sad, but it’ true: Photokina 2018 in September was the last of its kind.

Even US Fujifilm manager Steve said that from now on, Photokina will become more of a smaller regional show. And while in the past Fujifilm (and other companies) organized big launches in proximity to Photokina, it won’t be like this anymore in future.

I personally attended two photokina shows (2016 report here2018 report here). It was fantastic, because of the sheer magnitude of the event. Everybody with rank and name was there, and all the latest and greatest gear was launched at photokina. This magnitude will inevitably go lost now.

I don’t think it will be worth for me anymore to travel through half of Europe for a smaller regional show, so that was it. No more Photokina for me.

And to remind us of the good old days, I share the Fujifilm X Photographers Photokina 2018 live stages, which I was lucky to enjoy personally.
