BREAKING: Upcoming Fujinon GF zoom Will be Fujifilm’s Most Affordable G Mount Lens To Date

Well, this is am important update regarding the new Fujinon G mount zoom lens that will come in the first half of 2021.

According to our sources, it will be Fujifilm’s most affordable G mount lens to date.

FYI, the currently most affordable G mount lens is this one.

As you know, I just tried to make global economy recover by pre-ordering the GFX100S myself. I am torn between this lens and this lens. I absolutely need to find out the focal range of this upcoming zoom, as it could play into my buying decision.

For now, just drop your guess in the comments.

New Fujifilm Camera FF200002 Registered on January 31, 2021, and Why It’s a Curious Case (X-E4)

FR-reader Kent (thanks), just informed me that he spotted the registration made on January 31, 2021, of a new Fujifilm digital camera with the code name FF200002.

The strange thing here is, that in terms of registrations we had two registered cameras recently:

  • FF200001 registered Sept. 2, 2020 = X-S10
  • FF200003 registered Dec. 14, 2020 = GFX100S

It was just a matter of time until the FF200002 would appear, and it did so on January 31 at the launchstudio bluetooth registration page here.

So which camera is the FF200002?

The answer is: the Fujifilm X-E4!

I know that, because I have watched countless of youtube videos about the X-E4, and in one of them I noticed that when the screen was flipped out, on the backside of the camera you could read “FF200002“.

But it’s strange: the X-E4 is the first camera that gets registered after it has been announced. We told you in this article that it Fujifilm usually registers cameras from 1 to 6 months ahead of announcement.

Well, I guess this means from now on we have to count also with the possibility, that Fujifilm will announce cameras without them appearing first on some sort of registration website. But don’t worry about that, I will let you know in advance anyway what will come ;).

So let’s update our original article, where we illustrate the time span between registration and announcement of new Fujifilm gear:

  • registered 1 month before announcement = 4 cameras (X-T2, X-E3, X-T100, X-T30)
  • registered 2 months before announcement = 3 cameras (X-T20, X100F, XF10)
  • registered 3 months before announcement = 3 cameras (X-T3, GFX50R, GFX100)
  • registered 6 months before announcement = 2 cameras (X-H1, X100V)
  • registered 4 days after after announcement = 1 camera (X-E4)

New Fujifilm NP-70S Battery Registered – Not for X or GFX Series Cameras

Nokishita spotted the registration for a new NP-70S battery.

Fujifilm’s unreleased battery “NP-70S” has been registered with an overseas certification body. The nominal voltage is 3.6V and the capacity is 680mAh

It’s a refresh of the original NP-70 battery used on Finepix cameras.

Other batteries used on X and GFX cameras are:

  • Fujifilm NP-W235 (7.2V – 2200 mAh) – used on X-T4 and GFX100S
  • Fujifilm NP-W126(S) (7.2V – 1260 mAh) – used on all X-series cameras except for X-T4 and on X100F and X100V
  • Fujifilm NP-T125 (10.8V – 1230 mAh) – used on GFX100, GFX50S and GFX50R
  • Fujifilm NP-95 (3.6V – 1800 mAh) – used on X100 series cameras except X100F and X100V and X70/XF10
  • Fujifilm NP-45S (3.7V – 740 mAh) – used on various Finepix cameras

Fujifilm UK Wants You to Go Fuller than Full Frame and Offers £450 Discount on GFX100S if You Trade in Your Full Frame Camera

Fujifilm UK decided that it’s time to get rid of your full frame gear and offers you £450 trade in bonus (on top of the trade-in value of your FF camera) if you purchase the Fujifilm GFX100S. You can also trade in other medium format gear (full list below).

And not only that.

If you buy the Fujifilm GFX100S, you’ll get the Fujifilm BC-W235 dual battery charger for free or a free NP-W235 battery.

The deal is available at qualifying retailers such as Wexphotographic and Parkcameras.

The bad news?

As far as I can remember, such deals appear in Europe, but I can’t remember them for USA, where instant rebates are the standard. And considering that the original GFX100 never saw a rebate in any shape or form, not even now after the GFX100S announcement, I am very pessimistic that such a deal will appear also in USA.

Fujifilm GFX100S Shipping Delay: “Pre-Orders Exceed Expectations!”… and Why It’s Not a Marketing Move

Fujifilm has issued an official statement, telling customers that the Fujifilm GFX100S won’t ship at the end of February like planed (for the Japanese market), but later.

The reason is that the pre-orders exceed Fujifilm’s expectations. Hence, Fuji says it will “take some time” until they’ll be able to ship it.

Here is when major retailers expect stock at the time of this post:

  • BHphoto – 11 March
  • AmazonUS – No data. Listed, but not available for pre-order anymore
  • Adorama – 11 March

As usual when these notifications are released by companies, some say in the comments that this is some sort of marketing move.

But trust me: Fujifilm wants to ship as many GFX100S cameras within March as possible for the simple reason that the Japanese fiscal year ends in March, and the more GFX100S they will ship by then, the more Fujifilm can show up with good imaging division numbers in front of investors.

A shipping delay beyond March is the last thing they want. But so far, BH & Co still set the shipping start for March 11.

Here on FujiRumors we compared pre-orders of the Fujifilm GFX100S with the one of the GFX100, GFX50S and GFX50R, and we saw that the GFX100S alone got more pre-orders in the first three days then the other three GFX cameras combined.

Trust me: Fujifilm has landed a mega homerun with the GFX100S. Now it is crucial for Fujifilm to be able to ship it as fast as possible to cement this colossal success.

Fujifilm GFX100S No Vertical Battery Grip Option

According to information we have received, the Fujifilm GFX100S will have no vertical battery grip option.

Now, battery life on Fujifilm GFX cameras is not bad at all thanks to the big Fujifilm NP-T125 battery. So I don’t see an issue in terms of battery life here.

However, it might be an issue for those who want a vertical grip for better ergonomics when shooting in portrait mode.

So, let’s update our rumored specs list:

Fujifilm GFX100S Explained: Fixed EVF, Only One Top Dial (PSAM), No D-Pad, Top LCD, No Humpback and More

Ok guys, let’s narrow the range of our imagination, and describe a bit closer the Fujifilm GFX100S.

According to our information, you can imagine Fujifilm GFX100S like this:

  • no GFX50S humpback (if you don’t know what I mean, check out this image)
  • Top plate has only one dial on the top left side: a PSAM dial
  • no D-Pad
  • has joystick
  • Top LCD
  • Fixed viewfinder (not removable like on GFX100S and GFX50S, where it also can tilt thanks to the EVF tilt adapter)

Let’s add the information we already shared:

So, the Fujifilm GFX100S will be the first GFX camera with a PSAM dial.

And I get it: the almost totality of the market wants a PSAM dial. And if Fujifilm wants to attack the high end full frame market, then they simply have no other choice than to offer a GFX camera with PSAM dial. It will help the GFX system to get more popular.

And you know what?

Sure, I still would have preferred retro dials, but a PSAM dial is still better than the solution the GFX100 adopted, which was the first and only Fujifilm I ever used, that I struggled to operate out of the box.

So, mixed feelings here. But overall I prefer a PSAM dial over the solution adopted on the original GFX100.

BREAKING: Fujifilm GFX100S with 3-Way Tilt Screen (and NOT a Fully Articulating Screen)

I don’t why, but this morning my inbox was bombarded by people asking me the same question: will the Fujifilm GFX100S really have a fully articulating screen?

So let me adress this now: No, it won’t!

The Fujifilm GFX100S will have a 3-way tilt screen like the one on the Fujifilm X-T3.

Some Vloggers will still complaint in their first looks on January 27 that they can’t shoot medium format handheld selfie videos, but I guess most of the other medium format shooters will be just fine with this solution ;).
