Film Pastel – A Lovely New Film Simulation Recipe

As many of you know by now, I’ll be getting the Fujifilm X-E5—whenever it finally ships! Given the huge number of pre-orders, it might take a while, but I’m happy to wait for this little gem.

One feature I’m especially excited about is the elegant new film simulation dial. For the first time on a Fujifilm camera, it doesn’t just offer quick access to built-in film sims—it also lets you store your custom film simulation recipes directly on the dial. A small detail, but a big usability upgrade for recipe lovers.

So the question now is: which recipes should I save on the dial? And I think I might have potentially found one that deserves a dedicated slot on it.

In fact, I recently stumbled upon a lovely new film simulation recipe shared by Celeste in our massive Fujifilm Film Simulation group (which now counts over 139,000 members!).

The recipe is called “Film Pastel”.

I am dialing into my cameras right now to test it for a few weeks to see if it deserves that valuable recipe spot on my (future) X-E5 film simulation dial.

Now, I know not everybody is on facebook, so I will share the settings and some sample images here on FujiRumors.

Of course they are all courtesy of Celeste Carratta Foto. The images and recipe have been shared in this post and this post, and you can follow him on Instagram here.

Photographing a Mexican Drug Cartel with Fujifilm Instax Mini 12

I guess most of us associate Fujfilm’s plastic, pastel-colored instant cameras and printers (of which I own a few) with lighthearted moments such as birthday parties, weddings or casual snapshots with friends.

But Henry from “THROUGH THE GLASS” took his Insax Mini 12 to a wedding of a Mexican drug cartel, where he wore his cheerful Instax camera around his neck while guests carried massive rifles – a surreal contrast between the playful innocence of instant photography and the bizarre, tension-filled reality of cartel life.

And while the casual Instax prints where sometimes able to break through the tension and bring a smile even to highly armed people, the underlying sense of danger was never far behind.

The result is a very interesting, 17 minutes long mini-documentary that brings you right into the heart of one of Mexico’s most dangerous places, offering an unfiltered glimpse into cartel life through the lens of a toy-like camera.

Fujikina 2025 is Coming to London and Cologne

We already had a couple of Fujikina events this year: from Prague to Milan, from Brussels to Cebu and Arles.

But there are more coming.

For full event details, locations, schedules, and ticket pricing, visit the official Fujifilm event page we’ve previously linked.

As we reported already, most Fujikina events are “standalone” events, meaning they are not linked to a Fujifilm X summit product launch event.

However, as we reported here, there is (at least) this camera and this lens scheduled for September announcement, so there are high chances that in Cologne and London you might be able to get your hands on them.

And yet, the main course of the meal at Fujikina is not necessarily the newest gear. There is in fact much more to enjoy, from expert talks, photowalks, live shootings, live talks, meetings with experts, masterclasses, the Magnum exhibition and more.

And it is of course open also to non-Fujifilm shooters.

So whether you’re curious, committed, or just love being surrounded by inspiring photography energy, Fujikina is where you want to be this September.

Fujifilm Italy Says There Won’t be Any Lower Resolution GFX-RF and No Conversion Lenses for Fujifilm GFX100RF

Today I was listening to an older podcast with Fujifilm Italy about the Fujifilm GFX100RF.

It was an overall interesting podcast that I invite you to listen if you are fluent in Italian (link below).

But for the purpose of this article I would just like to highlight two things that have been said by the Italian Fujifilm manager.

  • no lower resolution Fujifilm GFX-RF coming
  • the X100VI has the Fujifilm WCL-X100 and TCL-X100 converision lenses, but Fujifilm won’t make any conversion lenses for the GFX100RF (the manager did sound absolute sure about this)

I can only hope that third parties will jump in and offer conversion lenses, just as they did with the Fujifilm X100VI, where we have various third party conversion lenses:

You can listed at the podcast at Discorsi Fotografici here.
