Confidential Guide Reveals who the Fujifilm X-E5 is For — and the X100VI Key Role in Its Appeal

I have received (thanks) the confidential “Fujifilm X-E5 first look guide” that has been distributed two weeks prior to the announcement to the press and retailers.

I will share it for all of you below.

I will highlight only one part of the document: the one where Fujifilm explains who this camera is for. If you want to see the full document, check out the screenshots below.

The primary target audience for FUJIIFLM X-E5 are experienced photographers. Many will be looking for a second Fujifilm camera body, or will recognize that X-E5 offers the perfect blend of X Series benefits: classic design, portability, straight out of camera image quality. Others may already own an X-E camera and/or have experience of film photography. For this group, the camera will be an everyday carry, used for a variety of image making and likely to be paired with a compact prime or smaller zoom lens.

FUJIFILM X-E5 will also find favor among newer photographers keen to document key life stages, such as travel or starting a family. This demographic will be less knowledgeable from a photography perspective but will value the aesthetics and size of the camera. These users will potentially be drawn to the Fujifilm brand by the popularity of X100VI – with which the X-E5 shares a similar design and style – as well as the interchangeable lens capability.

I dare to spread a theory: without the incredible success of the X100V and X100VI, the Fujifilm X-E line would have been axed. Change my mind ;).

In any case, not only the Fujifilm X-E line is back… but it’s back with its by far best model ever, the Fujifilm X-E5.

Fujifilm X-T5 Teardown Shows Compact IBIS Unit and Why It’s Great for Infrared and Astrophotography

IRreCams has disassembled a Fujifilm X-T5 for infrared conversion.

Some things they noticed:

What is noticeable here is that the design of the housing parts feels lighter compared to a X-H2 or X-T4. It’s difficult to photograph, but you can feel it in your hand. Fujifilm has managed to save a few grams and bring a high-quality, compact camera onto the market.

These features [7 stops IBIS and Pixel Shift Multishot] are already available from the X-H2 but what is new is the compact design of the sensor unit. Since the first sensor-based image stabilization in the X-H1, Fujifilm has gradually made the sensor module smaller and lighter. The module in the X-T5 is the most compact we have ever seen in a Fujifilm camera – and the design on the data sheet shows no disadvantages compared to the slightly larger module in the X-H2.

Similar to the sensor of the X-H2, the X-T5 also has a few precautions to dissipate the heat from the sensor towards the housing, but these are not quite as extensive as on the X-H2 (after all, the X-H2 still has to keep a cool head even when recording 8K video).

Some modern cameras have an internal infrared LED. Stray light from this LED can be visible on infrared images in poor lighting conditions. [X-T5] has no such LED problems. This means that the X-T5 is not only suitable for the Conversion to an infrared or full spectrum camera but also for a Astromodification in order to become sensitive for H-Alpha light. […] The sensor shows no unwanted sensor artifacts such as a line pattern of the PDFA pixels and delivers a very good resolution, dynamic range and noise performance

When Will Fujifilm Launch the 6th Generation Platform? A Data-Based Prediction

When I shared my Fujifilm 2024 – What’s Coming overview, many readers asked why the Fujifilm X-T6 was missing from the list.

In this article, I tried to explain why I believed a Fujifilm X-T6 would not launch in 2024 — and indeed, it didn’t.

But shortly after publishing that video, more questions rolled in — including ones like what about the Fujifilm X-H3 or X-H3S?

And since the same questions keep coming in my inbox, I thought it might be time to discuss it here on FujiRumors.

First of all, instead of asking when this or that specific camera might come, I think there’s a more important question we should be asking:
When will Fujifilm launch its 6th generation platform?

Assuming future models like the Fujifilm X-T6, X-H3, X-H3S, X-T60, X-Pro4, X-S30 and others will all be based on this 6th generation platform, the real question becomes:
How long does Fujifilm typically take to refresh its sensor/processor platform?

Let’s look at the historical data:

Last-Second Fujifilm Best Sellers – Before Prices Go Up in 2 Days (in USA)

A few days ago, we informed you that Fujifilm will raise prices on almost all X and GFX gear, and we also shared the full list of upcoming prices here.

I’ve now checked on what’s been selling best through FujiRumors affiliate links—and here’s the current top-selling gear, just two days before the price hike takes effect.

If there’s anything you’ve been thinking about getting, now’s the time to grab it at the current lower price.

NOTE: All the price increases listed below apply – obviously – only to the U.S. market. That’s why I’m sharing prices in U.S. dollars only—not in euros, yen, or any other currency. Will other regions see increases too? I don’t know. I have no info so far. My guess (not rumor) is that so far price increases are planed only for USA.

Of course the list is heavily influenced by the disastuous stock situation with Fujifilm gear – availability is tight, and many people are simply snapping up whatever they can still find in stock. For example, I bet that if the X100VI would be available anywhere, it would be on top of the list.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for at the usual retailers like BHphoto or Adorama, be sure to check Amazon as well. Several official Fujifilm dealers also sell through Amazon and may still have stock available.
