How To Get the HS-V5 Tethered Software in USA

A FR-reader was able to get a copy of the HS-V5 tethered shooting software in USA. Here is what you have to do:

Tethered Shooting Software IS available in the United States directly from Fuji USA. Call (800) 800-3854 [FujifilmUSA Customer Information Services] – Prompt #4 (Parts). There you can order Fuji’s HS-V5 Tethered Shooting Software for the Fuji X-T1. You have to wait a long time (it took me around 45 minutes). When you get through, be sure to talk to Kelley. The software price is $121.63, plus $9.95 shipping, plus tax (if you live in New Jersey). I ordered it over the phone with a credit card. Kelley told me that the HS-V5 software is available at retail in the U.S. at stores like B&H and Adorama, but they do not show it online. Another person at Fuji told me last week that the software is slated for availability by mid-December. It seems that the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. Fuji has great cameras and lenses, but really falls down on customer service. Too bad. BUT, I got the software!”

Organic Sensor: On Feb.1, Panasonic will talk about an Ultra Low Noise 120dB+ (!!) Dynamic Range organic sensor!

 photo Organic Sensor_zps5rutpzz5.png

_ _ _

Back in June 2013, Panasonic & Fujfilm announced, that they were developing an organic CMOS sensor, which, amongst the others should be capable of:

– industry’s highest dynamic range of 88dB
– 1.2 times higher sensitivity than conventional sensors to capture clear images even in low light
– range of incident angle expanded to 60 degrees for faithful color reproduction

But since then, we didn’t hear anything about this almost mythical organic sensor. The last thing I’ve heard from sources, was that Fujifilm and Panasonic were having problems due to too much heat being generated and high battery drain. And 43rumors said the sensor is stil 2 or 3 years to go.

Will it ever become true? I don’t know. Many of us also started thinking, that Fuji and Panasonic completely dropped its development… but maybe that’s not the case.

In fact, on February 1st, at the 2016 IEEE International solid-state circuits conference, Panasonic is giving a talk about an “over 120dB Dynamic Range Ultra Low Noise Organic CMOS sensor”.

So, if this is the development of the same organic sensor that Fuji & Panasonic announced back in 2013, then it means that not only they didn’t drop plans on it, but they were even able to improve its performance, boosting its dynamic range from amazing 88dB to astonishing 120dB+.

I know many of us just started salivating, but we better be careful with this information. It could still be a pretty long way off, before we’ll see it implemented in a Fuji/Panasonic camera (if ever). But in any case, on the 1st of February, we should all listen carefully at what Panasonic has to tell us.

thx to the FR-reader for the link :)

VIDEO: Enter the Japanese Sendai Fujifilm Factory with the Fuji Guys and see how the XF35mmF2 WR is Assembled!

Take a Tour with Fuji Guys Billy & Mark and see how the XF35mmF2 WR is assembled at the Japanese Sendai Factory.

Curiosity: at minute 4:05, Mark stands in front of the inspection area, where the IQ of the XF35mmF2 WR is tested after the assembling. If you wonder why Mark says “we can’t show you the inspection area. It’s highly confidential“, then maybe it’s because they are testing how the 35mm performs on a 24MP sensor X-Pro2 ;) .

And in case you missed it, you might also be interested to go inside the Fuji factory again and see Manufacturing Story of Fuji X-T10.

XF35mmF1.4 dethroned? “The XF35mmF2 WR Image Quality shows some clear improvement over XF35mmF1.4!”

FIRST LOOK: XF 35mmF2 WR at the X-Pert Corner

It’s a pretty hot discussed question in these days: XF35mmF2 WR Vs. XF35mmF1.4.

Recently ePhotozine assigned to the new XF35mmF2 5 out of 5 stars here… and the more we read, the more this high rating seems to be justified.

Let’s start with the inital thoughts of FXF member Stonehorn we can find at the dedicated XF35mmF2 FXF thread, who compares build quality, IQ, AF and makes his conclusions. Click here to read it.

Also admiringlight posted a comparison between these two lenses. And we have a winner: the new XF35mmF2 WR, especially due its better edge sharpness and AF-speed. Admiringhlights conclusions:

Both lenses are quality optics, but it’s clear to me that the 35mm f/2 shows some clear improvement in optical quality over the 35mm f/1.4. Both will do a great job, and the f/1.4 lens draws beautifully while providing that extra stop of speed, but the 35mm f/2 shows what Fuji can do with an extra few years of lens design for the X-Series”
