CONFIRMED: No Battery Grip Option for Fujifilm X-T5 – TRUSTED SOURCE

You might remember when back in July we told you that the Fujifilm X-T5 won’t have the vertical battery grip option, making it the first Fujifilm X-T camera ever without one (the X-T1 was the first Fujifilm X camera ever to even offer a vertical battery grip, the VG-XT1).

For 76% of you guys the lack of battery grip is not a dealbreaker, but there is still a respectable 24% of potential X-T5 buyers, who would not buy the X-T5 because of that.

For those 24% the hope was high that the rumor is wrong, given the fact that it came from a new source.

However, we can now confirm by trusted sources, that the Fujifilm X-T5 will indeed have no vertical battery grip option.

Fujifilm X-H2: These are All the Rumored Specs (so far) and Some of Them Apply also to Fujifilm X-T5

For your convenience, here are all the rumored Fujifilm X-H2 specs available on the internet (and 100% of those rumored specs have been leaked by FujiRumors ;)).

Fujifilm X-H2

Keep in mind that, since it uses the exactly same body of it’s faster brother, the Fujifilm X-H2S, many specs not listed here can be figured out by looking at the X-H2S.

So for example we know it will take one CFexpress Type B and one UHS-II card, it will have a wonderful EVF, a PSAM dial, fully articulating screen and what more.

Also, it will obviously have the same AF tracking features of the Fujifilm X-H2S, so subject/animal tracking will also be on the X-H2.

The list above mainly focuses on the differences between the Fujifilm X-H2S and the Fujifilm X-H2.

And keep in mind, the X-H2 and X-T5 will share the same core specs (sensor and processor), so I’d not be surprised to see quite of those specs come also to the X-T5. For example, I’d expect the Fujifilm X-T5 to have base ISO 125, improved ISO performance and I hope also pixel shift and 8K video (although this is just a wish of mine, not at all a rumor, so please don’t sh*tstorm on me if the X-T5 does not have that).

In any case it is worth also for X-T line lovers to follow the X-H2 rumors, as the X-T5 might encapsulate lots (hopefull all) of the goodness the X-H2 will unveil on September 8.

Why the Fujifilm X-H2 Coming September 8 will tell us A LOT about the Fujifilm X-T5

When I shared the rumor that the Fujifilm X-T5 won’t be announced during the X Summit on September 8, there was understandably quite some disappointment and some of you guys waiting for the X-T5 seem to have mostly lost any interest in the September X Summit event.

And while I can relate to that (I am also much more interested about the X-T5 rather than the X-H2), you should keep in mind that while September 8th will be mainly an event for the Fujifilm X-H2, we will learn a lot also about the Fujifilm X-T5!

Why?

Well, because according to our information, Fujifilm will not offer any stacked sensor Fujifilm X-T5S, but they will offer a 40MP Fujifilm X-T5.

And since the Fujifilm X-T5 will share the same sensor and processor of the Fujifilm X-H2, the X-T5 will perform identically to the X-H2 in many crucial areas such as:

  • same improved ISO performance (both will have the new lower base ISO)
  • same dynamic range
  • overall image quality will be identical
  • X-H2 will tell us how well current lenses will work on the high resolution 40MP sensor also of X-T5
  • Autofocus speed and accuracy of X-H2 and X-T5 will be identical

But of course, there will (or could) also be differences between X-H2 and X-T5:

Unclear at this point:

  • it is unclear as of now if the X-T5 will have the same video features of the X-H2 (for example 8K video)
  • it is unclear if the X-T5 will have the same continuous bursts speed of X-H2
  • it is unclear if the X-T5 will have a selfie screen or change the screen design over X-H2
  • and much more…

So even for people potentially interested in the Fujifilm X-T5, watching close at the performance of the Fujifilm X-H2 will be very important as it will unveil a lot about the performance of the X-T5 itself.

Nope, No Fujifilm X-T5 Announcement during X Summit on September 8

After Fujifilm disclosed the date of the next Fujifilm X summit and announced it September 8 at 2PM New York time, people started emailing me but also expressing their hopes on our social media channels, that we will get the Fujifilm X-T5 on September 8.

Sorry guys, but what we can tell you with 100% certainty that there won’t be any Fujifilm X-T5 announcement in September.

The main course of the meal on September 8th will be the Fujifilm X-H2. And of course there can be more, as Fujfiilm has already officially announced the following gear to come in 2022:

I am working on it and will let you know what will come (and what eventually not) on September 8th.

Fujifilm X-T5 with No Battery Grip: a Dealbreaker? VOTE SURVEY

We shared the rumor, provided to us by a new source, about the Fujifilm X-T5 having no battery grip option.

Now, for some reason I had the feeling that this wouldn’t be a big deal, as my impression was that the vast majority of X-T shooters don’t use the battery grip anyway.

But a recent survey we made shows that 38% of the FujiRumors readers owning an X-T camera also own the battery grip.

Assuming there will be quite some X-T shooters that might want to upgrade to the Fujifilm X-T5, I was wondering if the lack of battery grip would be a dealbreaker for you or not.

For those Interested to buy Fujifilm X-T5: would the lack of Battery Grip be a Dealbreaker for You?

RUMOR: Fujifilm X-T5 will Not Have Battery Grip Option – New Source

When Fujifilm launched the Fujifilm X-H2S, it also launched not one, but two battery grip options for it: the regular Fujifilm VG-XH and the file transmitting Fujifilm FT-XH.

So will this be the case also for the Fujifilm X-T5? Will it also get both options?

Well, apparently not.

A new source reached out to us and told us that there won’t be any battery grip for the Fujifilm X-T5.

This would mean that if you love to shoot with a battery grip, your only options will be the Fujifilm X-H2S and the upcoming Fujifilm X-H2. Or you can go with older models like the Fujifilm X-T4 with the VG-XT4 grip.

BREAKING: Fujifilm X-H2 and Fujifilm X-T5 Coming with New Lower Base ISO (Less than 160)

Multiple trusted sources have reported to us, that the 40MP non-stacked Fujifilm X-H2 will have a lower base ISO than current Fujifilm models, including the Fujifilm X-H2S, which still has ISO 160 as its lowest native value.

I was always of the opinion that a lower base ISO should be a top priority for Fujifilm, so this rumor makes me particulary happen.

And what does this mean for the Fujifilm X-T5?

Well, our trusted sources also told us that the Fujifilm X-T5 will have the non-stacked 40MP sensor, so we can safely assume that also the Fujifilm X-T5 will have a new lower base ISO. But to be clear, that is a logical conclusion I make based on the current X-H2/X-T5 rumors, and not something a source told me explicitly.

And what about the other future Fujifilm cameras?

Now, Fujifilm has stated that except for the Fujifilm X-H line which has both sensor options, all other camera lines will either get the stacked 26MP or the 40MP non-stacked sensor. And since I don’t have information on which sensor the surviving X cameras will get, hence the Fujifilm X-Pro4, X-E5, X-S20, X-T40 and X100V successor, I can’t say which line will profit from the lower base ISO, too.

I have conflicting report until now on which the new base ISO value will be, but I am working to figure it out. I hope that very shortly I can give you the precise value.
