Best XF Lens Deal of the Year Just Dropped in USA (Hopefully Coming to EU)

When readers ask me when we can expect Fujifilm’s best deals of the year, I usually reply “right before the Japanese fiscal year ends in March“. That’s when Japanese companies try to push sales to show up in front of investors with the best possible numbers.

Well, what Fujifilm just launched today are some of the best deals I have seen this year (Japanese Fiscal year of course), as. for the first time, they include huge savings on Fujifilm’s new 40MP capable f/1.4 lens trinity, a hefty $250 rebate on Fuji’s fastest lens ever and a few more deals.

Just 2 days ago I’ve expressed to you my plan to upgrade to the new XF23mmF1.4 and told you I will wait 1/2 months to see if a deal shows up and if not buy at full price. Well, I hope that the deal in USA is a prophetic sign that such deals are about to drop also in Europe. If it will, then it has to happen before the Japanese Fiscal Year ends. Crossing fingers.

Surprising Price Drops on Selected Fujinon XF Lenses (Not Listed on New Official Fujifilm Deals)

Official Fujifilm Deals

There is some confusion right now, which might need to be addressed.

Earlier today we reported how Fujifilm has launched some huge XF lens deals.

Some readers noticed that I separated the lens offers in two lists: “official Fujifilm deals” and “price drop“.

My fault is that I did not elaborate on why I did that, so I’ll do it now.

The official Fujifilm USA promotion page does not mention any deal on the XF200mmF2 and XF8-16mmF2.8. However, BHphoto lists those lenses as having a “price drop”. Also Adorama and Amazon list them with a lower price.

I don’t know how long this  “price drop” will last, as those rebates do not appear listed as official deals on any of the official Fujifilm channels. And that’s why I put them on a dedicated “price drop” section.

What is official, though, is the deal on the other XF lenses, which will end on March 26 and we share in the list “official Fujifilm deals”.

I will work to find out what exactly is going on with the XF200mmF2 and XF8-16mmF2.8 and how long that rebate will last.

Fujinon XF150-600mm Factory Tour – See how This Lens is Made

CineD gives us a look inside the Fujifilm factory and shows us how the Fujinon XF 150-600mm f/5.6-8 R LM OIS WR is made.

It’s one of the first factory tours we get after a long time, as during the pandemic no media was allowed into the Sendai factory about 2.5 hours north of Toyko.

There is not much new to learn, except for the fact that it takes 480 parts in order to assemble a single lens. But it is always nice to take a look inside the factory and see how much work and also care goes into the manufacturing of our gear.

Here on FujiRumors the XF150-600mm was a huge hit making it in the top three positions of the best selling lenses of 2022.

Fujifilm 2023: Can it Beat the Amazing 2022? A Look at What’s Coming (for sure) and What we Hope for

Fujifilm was the most busy camera brand of all in 2022.

They have released three higher end camerasfour XF lenses and one GF lens. Plus some accessories, such as the legendary cooling fan and the TG-BT1 Tripod Grip.

Now the question is: can the Fujifilm year 2023 match the year 2022 in terms of product launches?

Well, let’s look at it.

DPRTV and Ted Forbes 2023 Predictions: Fujifilm X-Pro4 and Dedicated Video Camera

DPRTV teamed up with Ted Forbes to predict the future of the Fujifilm system for 2023.

They predict two cameras:

  • Fujifilm X-Pro4 with 40MP
  • dedicated video camera

I won’t make any comment on anything at the moment, because as you can imagine, I am looking deep into 2023 already, and when the time has come and all the checks are done, I will drop 100% accurate rumors for you.

So for now take their predictions as what they are: fun speculations and wishes.

The FujiRumors community has a clear idea on what they want for 2023.

For the X series the most wished camera is indeed the Fujifilm X-Pro4 followed by the Fujifilm X100VI (or X100Vs or X200 or however Fujifilm is going to call the Fujifilm X100V successor).

For the GFX series, the top wish could be summed up with one word: speed!

Dear FUJIFILM, We Decided: Make These 6 X-Mount Lenses Next!

It’s pure sadness.

I mean, if you look at the current X mount lens roadmap, it is just sadness, with only one X mount lens stoically standing all alone trying to keep up excited about the future.

So we decided to help Fujifilm in gathering some ideas, and you guys dropped hundreds of lens suggestions for the future here, which I then summed up in 40 options to vote on here.

Well, here are the results:

TOP 6 LENSES OVERALL:

  1. XF 23mm f/2 Pancake (fan made rendering here)
  2. XF 16-55mm f/2.8 MK II
  3. XF 18mm f/2 MK II
  4. XF 12mm f/1.4
  5. XF 16-35mm f/2
  6. XF 11-30mm f/2.8

There were really a lot of suggestions in the wide angle zoom range. So many, that I decided to give 2 options to vote on, the XF16-35mm f/2 and the XF 11-30mm f/2.8.

But if we were to merger even those two lenses into one single lens, we could get something like the XF 14-30mm f/2.0. In that case, we would have the following result.

  1. XF 14-30mm f/2.0
  2. XF 23mm f/2 Pancake (fan made rendering here)
  3. XF 16-55mm f/2.8 MK II
  4. XF 18mm f/2 MK II
  5. XF 12mm f/1.4
  6. XF 70mm f/2 (fan made rendering here)

TOP 6 PRIMES:

  1. XF 23mm f/2 Pancake
  2. XF 18mm f/2 MK II
  3. XF 12mm f/1.4
  4. XF 70mm f/2
  5. XF 10mm f/2
  6. XF 35mm f/1.2

TOP 6 ZOOMS:

  1. XF 16-55mm f/2.8 MK II
  2. XF 16-35mm f/2
  3. XF 11-30mm f/2.8
  4. XF 16-70mm f/2.8-4
  5. XF 16-135mm f/4
  6. XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 MK II

And if we were to merge the two lenses as we did above, we would get:

  1. XF 14-30mm f/2.0
  2. XF 16-55mm f/2.8 MK II
  3. XF 16-70mm f/2.8-4
  4. XF 16-135mm f/4
  5. XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 MK II
  6. XF 23-55mm f/2

CONCLUSIONS
Wide Angle Reality vs Telephoto Dreams

When you go around in forums, you’ll often see people complaining about Fujifilm not offering enough long lenses.

And to a certain degree I agree with you: long primes especially are needed!

But then there is the reality.

And the reality is that the vast majority of Fujifilm shooters simply do not see long lenses as a priority. What they really want is the total opposite: more wide angle zooms and primes.

We have to be clear about this: any of the lenses that made it to the top of the list in our survey would outsell by a large margin any long prime or zoom lens Fuji would launch.

That’s something Fujifilm knows (and has openly declared here).

And yet, there is at least one lens I feel Fujifilm must give us: the (already patented) Fujinon XF 400mm f/4, which made it in the top 15 of our list and fellow FR-readers already made mock-ups of and it is consistently your top wished telephoto lens.

So, even though it did not make the list, I strongly advice Fujifilm to give us a long prime lens.

DPRTV Best & Worst Cameras and Lenses of 2022: Praise for Fujifilm X-H2s, Blame for XF18-120mmF4 PZ

DPRTV tells us which was the best and worst gear launched in 2022.

The Fujifilm X-H2s establishes itself as the best hybrid camera, as it snaps the first spot in the video camera category and the second spot in the still camera section.

But it’s not all good for Fujifilm. In fact, the Fujinon XF 18-120mm f/4 PZ has been declared the worst lens.

Best Lens

  1. Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II
  2. Sigma 20mm f/1.4 Art DG DN

A pity that none of the four Fujinon lenses launched this year got even a honorable mention.

Best Video Camera

  1. Fujifilm X-H2s
  2. Sony FX30

Fujifilm X-H2s: BHphotoAmazonUSAdorama / Moment

Best Photo Camera

  1. Sony A7rV: they highlight that it is definitely not best as hybrid camera. But this section is for stills only
  2. Fujifilm X-H2s: stacked sensor at a price that can’t be matched by Full Frame. Lovely handling. Greatly improved AF.

Worst Lens

  1. Fujinon XF 18-120mm f/4 PZ: designed as a video lens. It is not as sharp. Chris says it is still a decent lens. But Jordan was dispointed by it. Should be sharper to take the most advantage of 8K of X-H2 or open gate 6.2K of X-H2s.

I am terribly sorry…. terribly sorry that many of you had to wait so long to be featured.

But no matter how hard I work, especially in a crazy 2022, with 3 higher end cameras coming out and 4 XF lenses coming out, I simply could not find time to collect all your wishes and share them.

So I’ll do it today… I grabbed a large beer, took a deep breath, and worked to organise the wishes I have received over the last few months in this article.

So… down below it is: the FR-readers wishlist roundup

Top Fujifilm Related Product 2022

Well, not bad at all Fujifilm!

3 higher end cameras coming out and 4 XF lenses.

We certainly can agree upon the fact that Fujifilm wasn’t lazy in 2022!

And since during the last X summit the Japanese manager said that this was the last X summit of the year (hence there won’t be any more announcements), we can already vote on what was, according to you, the top Fujifilm related product of 2022.

In the survey I will also include the Sigma 18-50mmF2.8, which might not be available yet, but as latest leaks suggest, it should come shorty. And we pretty much also know how it performs optically, as it is already available for Sony E mount and you can read the reviews at B&H Photo here and at AmazonUS here.

So feel free to vote the survey down below:
