Fujifilm X-H1 will have Same X-Processor Pro of X-T2… Film Simulation “Eterna” X-T2 Kaizen Update Possible?

X-Processor Pro

According to our sources, the Fujifilm X-H1 will have the same X-Processor Pro of the Fujifilm X-T2.

This is great news for X-Pro2, X-T2, X-T20, X100F and X-E3 owners, as it gives us hope that “Eterna“, Fujifilm’s new film simulation, will come also to those cameras via Kaizen update.

Let me explain it…

but before that… our X-H group is exploding… you are welcome to join :)

Film Simulation Kaizen Update for X-T2 & Co?

Now, film simulations are a “processor thing“.

This means that cameras featuring an older processor will not support film simulations, that have been introduced in cameras with newer processors. So, for example, the Acros film simulation on the X-T2 & Co cameras with X-Processor Pro, will never be implemented on Fuji cameras with older and slower EXR processors like the X-T1.

But since the X-H1 features the same same X-Processor Pro of the X-T2 and friends, there is hope that “Eterna” will come also to older X-Processor Pro cameras.

more… and more… and more… is coming :)

What we have for you today is a size comparison X-H1 Vs. X-T2, brought to you by our beloved and trusted Japanese source.

The green shape is the X-H1 and the white one the X-T2. So quite a size difference. The size of the X-H1 looks like something in between the X-T2 and GFX.

Fujifilm X-H1 Rumored Specs

Oh, and if you think it’s too big, then check out how big one of the best hybrid stills/video cameras out there is, the Panasonic GH5… and it’s a M43 camera – via camera size

On the other hand, the A6500 is small and has IBIS. There are some overheating reports out there, though.

I think Fujifilm chose the bigger size, not only for better heat dissipation, but also for better ergonimics/handling/balance when used with the huge Fujinon MK cine lenses (or any other big Fujinon lens).

Fujifilm X-H1: New Film Simulation “Eterna”, Top LCD Panel and Shipping in February

The Fujfilm X-H1 will ship in February and have a new film simulation called Eterna. It will also have a top LCD panel like the GFX.

Priced around $2,000.

Fujifilm Keeps On Booming: Fiscal Year 2018/3 2nd Quarter Report is Out… Revenue up 13.3%!

I know, after the Fuji Xerox scandals in New Zeland, some sites tried to create alarmistic clickbait headlines, saying that the issue might be so serious to really endanger Fujifilm’s existence. But here on FujiRumors we like to be a tiny bit more factual and to look at the real numbers when they are so easily available… and those numbers are, once again, positive.

Hence, no panic… as we always said here on FujiRumors, Fujifilm is healthy, and especially its imaging division is growing and growing, quarter after quarter… or as Fujifilm writes: “revenue up 13.3% from the same period of the previous fiscal year“.

We already reported that things seem to go quite well for Fujifilm. Some managers even dream of 50% market share, and Fujifilm’s declared goal is to become Nr.1 mirrorless premium camera manufacturer within 2019. Moreoever, at lensrentals, the rental of Fujifilm lenses saw a 96% increse in 2017.

One more interesting little quote to highlight is that Fujifilm says they are “leading the mirrorless digital camera market“.

Down below I have copied all passages that talk about Fuji’s imaging division. Enjoy :)

APS-C vs Full Frame – Does it Make a Difference to You?

GUEST POST FEATURE HERE
Write Your Articles Directly On FujiRumors!

Guest post by theoverratedphotographer – website / instagram @theoverratedphotographer

Preface

On the back of Nikon’s comments that “No professionals use Fuji” and “Full frame is the trend”, I decided it was only appropriate to explore the difference between full frame and APSC, largely from an enthusiasts/amateurs perspective.

Despite what it may look like this is not intended as a click bait article but it will probably will be construed as one and result in the wrath of many full frame owners.

The problem is photographers get defensive when you tell them they don’t need something. Our egos tell us we are better than we are. That’s why we buy the best bicycles, golf clubs and everything else conceivable. We buy ultralight tour de france bicycles that will shave seconds off our ride to work for no apparent reason at all.

This article is not intended to be an APSC vs Full Frame argument from the perspective of trying to prove that APSC is better than Full Frame. The question isn’t whether, it’s better, it’s whether it’s “good enough” to make a difference to you. I can’t make that call, only you can.

We could argue Medium Format has better image quality than Full Frame which has better image quality than APSC. If that was the case, why isn’t every photographer using medium format? The truth is when looking at Medium Format vs Full Frame vs APSC, the argument of “what is better” comes down to a number of different requirements including purpose, size and budget. A DSLR isn’t much help if you are hiking 90km’s with a 40kg backpack and a medium format doesn’t help you much if you are shooting sports. In the absence of budget, one could argue that having all 3 would be the ideal outcome, but very few people live in an environment where budget is not a constraint.

Before the arguments start, what I would like to make clear is that:

Fujinon XF 8-16mm F2.8 Available Mid 2018 (New Source)… and Now, Dear Fujifilm, We Want an XF 16-80mm F4 :)

According to a new source, the Fujinon XF 8-16mm F2.8 WR will be available mid 2018. Take it with a grain of salt for now. We have already shared the first images of the XF 8-16, XF 200mmF2 and GF 250mmF4 in this Fujirumors article.

And which one should be the next X mount zoom lens after the XF 8-16mm F2.8 WR?

In our gigantic X mount lens poll request to Fujifilm, where over 14,000 of you guys voted, dropping a total of 34,431 preferences, a lens like an XF 16-80mm F4 became the most wanted zoom lens after the XF 8-16mm F2.8.

So, dear Fujifilm, the FujiRumors community worked very hard to collect for you free market investigation data, and we decided for something like a Fujinon XF 16-80… thank you very much for listening :) .

Where is the Fujinon XF 18mm F2 MK II ? … and About Fujifilm Lens Roadmaps

Where is the Fujinon XF18mm F2 MK II

In these days, I’m getting the following question very often via email, and I thought it would be better to dedicate it an own article: why is there no Fujinon XF18mmF2 MK II on Fuji’s new X-mount lens roadmap?

The answer: it is on Fujifilm’s internal roadmap, but not yet on the public one.

Interal Roadmaps Vs. Public Roadmaps

In the past, Fujifilm publicly shared comprehensive long term lens roadmaps. But as you know, Fujifilm tends to change plans rather often, also based on feedback from the community. So it happened that lenses promised in the public roadmap were scrapped or changed (remember how Fuji cancelled the 120mm, which was on the roadmap?)… changes, some people did not like.

So, in order to avoid to annoy some people by roadmap changes, Fujifilm decided to share only those lenses in the public roadmap, that are 100% sure, final and next to be released.

But, of course, long term internal roadmaps still exist, like the G-mount roadmap we have leaked here on FujiRumors back in April 2017, where you can see many GF lenses, including the GF250, which is now officially part of the roadmap since September 2017.

The long rumored XF18mmF2 MK II reminds me a bit to the XF 8-16 rumor story.

We shared the first rumor of the 8-16/2.8 back in May 2016. But it took Fujifilm 17 months (!!!), to finally put it in the roadmap, in September 2017.

So keep in mind, that when you read a lens rumor (or any rumor) here on Fujirumors, it does not mean the lens is just around the corner and we will 100% see it in the next roadmap update. It might take some time to see it become real… if ever ;)
