The Fujifilm X-T5 Dominates…

The Fujifilm X-T5 dominates our dreams and desires.

And how do I know that?

Well, because on the month where Fujifilm dropped a true stunner, the Fujifilm X-H2, the rumors and speculations of the Fujifilm X-T5 crushed anything X-H2 related in terms of views here on FujiRumors.

And guys, if the Fujifilm X-T5 is what you want, then you’ll get it… very very soon they say ;).

But while the Fujifilm X-T5 dominates your interest, there are some articles shared in September that you should not have missed. And if you did, here they are.

Fujifilm Manager Teases Another Launch Event “Very Very Soon” and adds “Oh, I Should Not Have Said That” – Fujifilm X-T5?

The House of Photography in Sydney was packed with guests for the Fujifilm X-H2, XF56mmF1.2 R WR and GF20-35mmF4 launch event, when the whole presentation came to an end, and the Australian Fujifilm manager closes the event by saying:

Thank you everyone here, thanks to everyone out there in the web world for tuning in and watching us. I am sure we will be doing this again very very soon… oh, I shouldn’t have said that, shouldn’t I? Alright. Good night everyone. Thank you again!

So he just teased that another launch event is just around the corner.

What could it be?

Some might say he is referring to the only remaining gear Fujifilm already said would come in 2022 and we are still waiting to be announced: the Fujinon XF30mmF2.8 Macro.

But frankly I doubt that for this lens alone Fujifilm would set up a bigger launch event with guests at the House of Photography. And also, why say “I should not have said this“, when Fujifilm already announced it for 2022, so it’s all but a secret that it is coming.

He is probably referring to something we don’t know about yet… unless you follow FujiRumors of course. In that case you know what it is (hint: Fujifilm X-T5) ;).

Fujifilm Removes X-T4 and X-E4 from their Japanese Catalog Page

We already told you that major Japanese stores marked the X-T4, X-E4 and X-T30II as discontinued.

Now we have another puzzle piece to add to this: as you can see from the screenshot above, Fujifilm has removed the Fujifilm X-T4 and X-E4 from their Japanese product catalog.

The last available Google cached version of September 2021 still shows both items on the website.

What does this mean for Fujifilm X-T5, X-E4 and X-T30II? Well, I have tried to explain it as good as possible here.

Fujifilm X-T4, X-E4, X-T30II Discontinued at Major Japanese Stores: So Let’s Talk Fujifilm X-T5, X-E5 and X-T40

Several major Japanese stores like MapCamera, BicCamera, and Yodobashi have now marked the Fujifilm X-T4, X-E4 and X-T30II as discontinued.

Map camera still has it in stock, but they won’t be receiving anymore units for sale after their stock is depleted. There’s a note on the pages that says “在庫限り(生産完了品)” which translates to “Limited stock (discontinued item)“.

So let’s talk about it.

Fujifilm X-T5:

In the past, especially when it comes to the X-T line, once a successor was released, the older model was still manufactured for a while, simply because they remained very popular. So discontinue the X-T4 even before the Fujifilm X-T5 arrives would be very unique.

But hey, we also live unique times with the massive parts shortage.

Since the Fujifilm X-T5 will be announced shortly, Fujifilm could have decided to stop Fujifilm X-T4 production in order to use some of the X-T4 components for the Fujifilm X-T5 production. A unique, drastic but maybe necessary move. But that’s just a mere speculation of mine, trying to make sense on why it is marked as discontinued at some Japanese stores.

Fujifilm X-E5:

It usually takes Fujifilm almost 4 years to update the X-E line. So a Fujifilm X-E5 coming so soon (X-E4 was announced in January 2021), would be extremely surprising.

If Fujifilm really discontinued the X-E4 as some Japanese stores write, then I believe the most likely reason is not because a Fujifilm X-E5 is about to drop, but because Fujifilm needs some of the parts to manufacture newer and more important cameras (in terms of revenue for Fujifilm) as the Fujifilm X-H2S, Fujifilm X-H2 and the imminent Fujifilm X-T5.

Fujifilm X-T40

Fujifilm needs about 2 years to update the X-T** line.

The Fujifilm X-T30 was released in February 2019. It’s successor, the Fujifilm X-T30II came in September 2021. So one might think we might have to wait late 2023 or early 2024 for an X-T40, but consider that the Fujifilm X-T30II is a last second emergency product of Fujifilm: they run out of parts and in order to keep the manufacturing process of the X-T30 alive, they needed to use new and slightly improved hardware parts (such as a better LCD screen).

Not even Fujifilm sees the X-T30II as a true successor to the X-T30. So I guess a Fujifilm X-T40 in not too distant future could be a possibility.

But the problem here is: I have zero rumors or ever so slight hint and whisper about it, which makes me believe that the Fujifilm X-T40 won’t come that soon.

Fujifilm GF30mmF5.6 Tilt Shift and GF110mmF5.6 Tilt Shift (Quietly) Announced – First Images

I don’t know if you did, but I did it… I followed the Fujifilm X summit until the very end.

And right in the very last seconds, Fujifilm showed two mockups of future GF tilt shift lenses, the GF30mmF5.6 Tilt Shift and the GF110mmF5.6 Tilt Shift.

Above the image of both lenses and below some hands on images.

Looks like we were right, when we said Fujifilm was hiding one tilt shift lens from us in the G mount roadmap ;).

New Fujifilm Camera Remote App to Be Called “X-App”… but Will it Really Come in September?

When we shared the rumor about Fujifilm working on an all new camera remote App, we got hundreds of comments of pure joy.

And if you were wondering (like me), if the new App would also get an all new name so that we can get over the “Camera Remote” trauma faster, I am pleased to report that it will.

In fact, I have been told that right now Fujifilm is likely going to call the new app “X-App”.

  • I CAN HEAR YOU SHOUT: “Who Cares!”.

I get it… but to me, the fact that the App will get a totally new name is at the same time a strong indication that it is an all new and totally re-written App, which is great news!

As the App is not yet out, I would not be totally surprised if the final name would be another one. But for now it’s “X-App”. And in any case, it will surely be a totally new App with a new name.

  • I CAN HEAR YOU SHOUT: “When Will it Come!”

I have heard some claiming it will come in September, based on what a German manager supposedly said here. But since I speak German, I can tell you that at no point of the interview the manager mentioned any new App coming at all. It goes without saying that therefore he also didn’t say it will come in September.

So what I can say is that I don’t know when it will be released. I can’t exclude September, but I also can’t exclude October, November, December or just anything at this point.

But I just want to make clear that neither any manager nor FujiRumors have announced a new App coming in September.

So please, don’t be disappointed if it won’t come in September… but know that it will come for sure and Fujifilm is working on it.
