The Fujifilm X-T2 is now marked as discontinued at BHphoto here and also at Adorama.

You can still find it in other stores, for example the silver version is still available at Focuscamera, but the inevitable is happening: as the X-T2 is no longer in production, the stock is now clearing out.

So we have to say goodby, to one of Fujifilm’s most legendary and important digital cameras, the Fujifilm X-T2.

Some of you might remember, how the New York Times reported here that Fujifilm sold only 700,000 cameras in the first 2 years of its existence.

X100, X-Pro1, X-E1, X10 and other cameras could never really go mainstream.

However, things changed starting from January 2014, with the Fujifilm X-T1. It was a big hit, and the Fujifilm X-T2 even topped its sales, becoming Fuji’s most successful X series camera ever.

The X-T line is what keeps the X series alive, and currently the Fujifilm X-T3 is going even better than any of its predecessors.

So, ode to the glorious Fujifilm X-T2. May the success of this line continue for many more years to come.

Hardly any other company puts that much effort in creating really beautiful and useful color profiles like Fujifilm.

Fujifilm calls them “film simulations”: inspired by the look of old film stock, they try to bring some of that magic into the digital era.

In fact, Minami-San, the Fujifilm employee responsible for colors back in the film days, is still today working at Fujifilm and in charge of the digital film simulation development. You can see his story here.

Of course we all demand for this firmware update, which should give us Classic Negative and other X-Pro3 goodness also these Fuji X/GFX cameras.

Fujifilm X-T2 Price Drops to $799 Again

Fujifilm decided to add the Fujifilm X-T2 to the current huge Fujifilm X and GFX deals.

You can now get the Fujifilm X-T2 for just $799 at BHphoto. We had the same deal a few weeks ago, but then it went up to normal price again.

It might be the last big X-T2 sell-out, as Adorama doesn’t sell X-T2’s anymore, and I once the stock is cleared, you won’t find new X-T2 anywhere anymore.

The Chinese company JJC has just released the Arca-Swiss compatible JJC FUJIFILM X-T3 / X-T2 hand grip as well as the JJC FUJIFILM X-T30 / X-T20 / X-T10 hand grip.

These grips are even cheaper than the Chinese Meike grip for X-T3 and for X-T30, not to talk of the rather pricey original Fujifilm grip.

Release Timeline for Fujifilm X-T4, X-H2, X-T40, X-Pro3, X100V, X-E4, X-T200 and X-A6 Based on Fuji’s Previous Camera Releases

Almost 1 year ago, I published a release timeline of Fujifilm cameras, and, based on that timeline, I made guesses on when a successor could come.

Turns out that, so far, our timeline was pretty accurate. In fact, based on Fuji’s release schedule, we predicted:

  • Prediction: X-T30 in February 2019 – Reality: January 2019 – Accuracy: 1 month off
  • Prediction: X-Pro3 in January 202o – Reality: around October 2019 – Accuracy: about 3 months off

Now I thought it’s time to update our timeline, because:

  • some cameras have already been announced (X-T30) and others will be announced soon (X-Pro3)
  • this time we include cameras not listed last time (X-T200 and X-A6)

The X-T4/X-H2 Grain of Salt Corner

Keep in mind that this camera replacement timeline is NOT based ON RUMORS, but on past camera release schedule of Fujifilm.

Hence, take it with a grain of salt, especially when it comes to Fujifilm X-H2 and Fujifilm X-T4 release. The timing between X-H1 and X-T3 has proven to be very damaging for X-H1 sales, so there might be some changes here.

In fact, according to our sources, the Fujifilm X-H2 might not even come in 2020! But I want to wait for more details and confirmations, before changing the below timeline.
