Size Comparison: Fujifilm X-S10 vs X-T4 vs X-T30 vs X-T200

Yesterday evening FujiRumors leaked the size comparison between Fujifilm X-S10 and Fujifilm X-T4.

In the comments to that post, some FR-readers took the sketches, and added the Fujifilm X-T30 as well as the currently ultra-cheap X-T200 to the comparison.

I’d like to thanks you guys for the help, and share two of the comparisons you made down below.

We can see, that the X-T30 is still slightly smaller. But not that much, actually, and consider that the X-S10 has also the IBIS unit build into it.

Now, we know the X-T10, X-T20 and X-T30 were absolute best sellers for Fujifilm. But I have the feeling that the X-S10 could do even better, as it features IBIS as well as a nice deep grip, features that many users want and so far could not find in a sub-1,000 Fuji X series camera.

The Fujifilm X-S10 has a terrific potential. Let’s hope it will turn out to be winner for Fujifilm.

Everything will be official on October 15. And everything about the X-S10 will be found on FujiRumors and the big live blogging we are going to have. Feel free to join us. :)

Firmware Updates for Fujifilm X-T4, X-T3, X-T2, X-T1, X-H1, X-Pro3, X-Pro2, X-Pro1, X-E3, X-T20 and X-T30 Released

Fujifilm has released several firmware updates.

Down below you’ll find all the details officially shared by Fujifilm.

The main course of the meal is improved support for the Fujinon XF50mmF1.0 R WR. for “enhanced AF speed and enabling Color Shading Correction to mitigate subtle color casts when images are made at the lens’ maximum F1.0 aperture“.

I wish Fujifilm would specify, which bugs are fixed. For example, as FujiRumors found out for first, the recent X-T4 “minor bug fix” was actually a major one, as it fixed the exposure stepping issue.

Anyway, down below all the details.

Fujifilm Patent Shows New Camera Interface (Dual LCD Screen) but it’s the One of the Fujifilm X-T200

A Fujifilm patent now surfaced on the web, showing an LCD screen that has a split view for film simulations.

As dclife writes (google translated):

FUJIFILM has registered a design that enables image division on the rear monitor screen of the camera. The border of the divided screen can be changed by swiping. Basically, it seems that the colors of the film simulation can be compared.

[…] I think that you can use it in various ways, but there is a figure in which the film simulation PROVIA and Velvia are split and displayed, and the area is changed by swiping.

[…] I don’t know if this design will be put to practical use in the future, but the size of the rear monitor of the current “X-T4” is 3.0 type, and I am wondering how easy it is to use with this monitor size.

Well, looks like the future already happened, as this is the LCD screen of the Fujifilm X-T200 (see Fuji Guys video below starting from 2:41).

I wonder how this could even become news, but hey, FujiRumors is here to give you guys clarity ;).

Fuji Guys Introduce X-A7/X-T200 Webcam Feature and FujiRumors Explains the Difference with Fujifilm X Webcam Software

While probably many of you were sleeping, Fujifilm made two things happen:

Now the Fuji Guys have released a follow up video to the new X-T200 and X-A7 webcam feature, that you can see down below.

Here is what they say about the new X-A7/X-T200 webcam feature (not to mistake with Fujifilm X webcam software).

  • supports a universal USB video format, meaning it’s a true plug-and-play
  • change only one setting in camera to make it work (Connection Settings USB mode USB webcam)
  • connect camera and it automatically gets detected by your computer
  • works for Windows or Mac
  • you can’t use film simulation or other video parameters
  • no control over autofocus, it is automatically set to continuous with face and eye detection enabled
  • works also with OBS
  • no power provided to camera while connected to computer
  • fully charged battery gives you 2 hours of usage
  • best use a battery coupler
  • AF assist lamp on the front of the camera will turn on when battery power is low
  • no audio when camera is connected to computer. Best pick up a high quality microphone
  • max. 720p @ 30p

Down below you can read what is different by using Fujifilm X Webcam compared to the X-A7/X-T200 solution described above.

  • You must install the Fujifilm X webcam software in order to use your X/GFX camera as a webcam
  • more settings to change in camera: set drive dial to “S”, in connection settings set USB-AUTO, set Pre-AF ON for focus, recommended setting is Single AF
  • you can enable face/eye detection if you want (but also keep it disabled)
  • you can select film simulation
  • video quality: XGA (1024 x 768)
  • does not support OBS (but we reported about a workaround)

So, Fujifilm X Webcam gives you still more control, but given how reliable Fuji’s eye autofocus has become (and I talk from experience, as I used it a lot for my video-online lessons), I would feel totally confident to go full auto.

However, having a webcam that outputs ETERNA and higher qualiy video is great.

So, between the two, I’d still go with Fujifilm X webcam, and make the few extra setting changes in camera.

But hey, let me know what you guys prefer by voting the survey down below:

DPReview Entry Level Shootout: Fujifilm X-T200 vs Sony A6100 vs Canon EOS M50

DPReviewTV compares the Fujifilm X-T200 with the Sony A6100 and the Canon EOS M50.

Here are their findings:

Handling

  1. EOS M50: nice quality camera. Best grip. Wonderful touch screen interface
  2. X-T200: beautiful. Very customizable. Feels cheap holding in the hands. No AF-ON button. Handles well, grip improved
  3. A6100: same old design

Display

  1. X-T200: similar EVF like Canon. 16:9 aspect ration LCD
  2. EOS M50: best EVF. Fully articulating screen
  3. A6100: too low res viewfinder. Fully articulating screen would have been better

Image Quality

  1. X-T200: easy win. modern sensor. Very good ISO performance. Great Fujifilm JPEG. Fastest sensor scan rate
  2. A6100: better high ISO than Canon. Rolling shutter issue
  3. EOS M50: oldest sensor. 24MP. Slow scan rate

Autofocus

  1. A6100: easy win. Sony’s eye and face AF is fantastic. Great tracking. Intuitive to use. Highest hit rate. You get the same advanced AF as their Pro bodies
  2. EOS M50: dual pixel AF. Great touch screen interface. Sticky tracking
  3. X-T200: much better than X-T100. But other cameras have a bit better interface. X-T200 has very short buffer

Video

  1. X-T200: 16:9 flippy screen. You can monitor audio via USB-C adapter. Beautiful 4K and nice slow motion
  2. A6100: best AF, usable 4K. Pretty severe rolling shutter. Screen tilt upwards. If you use microphone on hot shoe, it blocks the screen
  3. EOS M50: 4K has huge crop and no longer dual pixel AF

Lenses

  1. X-T200: Fujifilm continues to dominate in having the best and most lenses available. No big third party support, though. But probably there is not really the need for it. It’s hard for third party manufacturers to come and compete with a company, who makes very affordable zooms, affordable primes like the XC 35mm f/2, kit lenses are often better then some of the Pro lenses other manufacturers make. Lots of Pro lenses, too
  2. EOS M50: opposite of Sony. No higher end lenses. You need an adapter and adapt EF lenses. Not much third party support. Canon has affordable good quality lenses for users starting out. The kit lens is way better than the Sony kit lens
  3. Sony: lots of third party support. Excellent and expensive E mount lenses. But this is an entry level camera, and needs affordable lenses. Sony lacks of such lenses

Conclusion

  1. X-T200: well deserved win. Great AF, excellent video, sexy body, very customizable, lenses, etc. It fixes all the issues they had with the X-T100
  2. EOS M50: affordable, capable, versatile
  3. A6100: lack of lenses. Not sexy cameras. Autofocus is great
