These Two Huge Photography Vloggers Just Discovered Fujifilm, Got Infected by the X-Virus and Now Have Fun with Photography Again!

Discovering Fujifilm in 2018

Here on FujiRumors we talk about Fujifilm X and GFX gear every day since over 6 years now.

Those, who follow FujiRumors regularly, will also know in which direction Fujifilm is going, may it be the Fujifilm X-T3, the GFX 50R, the X-T100, the GFX 100S… and there is more to come… you definitely want to follow us also on Facebook, RSS-feed and Twitter if you want to stay in the loop ;) .

So, in our eyes, talking about the Fujifilm X100F might seem old news.

But believe it or not, despite Fujifilm being every year more successful, X-shooters are still a relatively small niche in the photography world and many people don’t even know that Fujifilm makes highly sophisticated mirrorless cameras.

So today I’d like to highlight 2 huge youtubers (with well over a million subscribers), who recently stumbled upon the Fujifilm X system, more specifically the (now discounted) Fujifilm X100F.

The enthusiasm they show, when they talk about their “discovery” of the Fujifilm X system, reminds me a lot to my own excitement, when, after migrating from Canon to Sony, from Olympus to Panasonic, I finally discovered the Fuji X system.

I can without a doubt say that the X-system, although not perfect for everybody, was perfect for me. Why? Because I had so much fun shooting with it like never before. A fun that never stopped until today.

It’s No Coincidence

It’s no coincidence, that photographers, who have a long story with Canon or Nikon (like the two youtubers today), start their Fuji X adventure with an X100 line camera.

In fact, the X100F serves also this purpose.

It’s a compact, fixed lens, high quality and feature packed camera (hybrid viewfinder, build in ND-filters, film simulations and more), that is also ment to serve as a second camera for those photographers, who have already invested heavily into other systems, and do not want to buy into a completely new one.

So to speak, the Fujifilm X100F could be seen also as the “gateaway drug” into the X world.

CaNikon shooters get it as a small second camera for everyday use, start to have fun with it, enjoy the film simulations, the good old classic controls, get familiar with the X cameras, and at some point might be tempted to ditch their old system and switch to interchangeable Fujifilm X cameras… maybe a story that might sound familiar to some of you guys ;) .

Fujifilm Unreleased “FF180001” Camera Registered

Fujifilm just registered an unreleased camera with the code name “FF 180001”.

So what could it be?

Well, here on FujiRumors we rumored the Fujifilm X-T100 since back in September 2017 and we warned you that it will not come in the first quarter of 2018 (within March). However, the first quarter is now over, so maybe we might see in the next few months finally.

The Fujifilm X-T100 will be DSLR-styled Bayer sensor camera with EVF (similar to X-T20), and be more affordable than the current X-T20 (see all X-T100 rumors).

Another option is the X70 successor, which, as we reported here, should have a Bayer sensor, since the current 24MP X-Trans sensor (and the extra processing power required), just creates too many overheating problems in such a small camera body.

I will work on it now and give you guys an update as soon as I can.

In the meantime, read what nokishita, who spotted the registration, writes about it:

“The communication module installed in Fujifilm’s unreleased camera passed overseas certification agencies. Since it is a different radio part from X-E3 and X-H1, it is made by Zakuti just like X-A5.

The distance information to the antenna does not include a protruding part such as a penta part so much, so it will not be very helpful, but the width that will be less uneven appears to be around 121 mm.”

Fujifilm named Thomson Reuters 2018 Top 100 Global Technology Leaders… and the Road to No.1 in Premium Mirrorless Camera Market

Fujifilm has been named (again) amongst the 2018 Top 100 global technology leaders by Thomson Reuters.

In the camera segment, Fujifilm was indeed innovative, by launching a new line of mirrorless medium format cameras with the Fujifilm GFX 50S, that has all the potential to become a game changer in the industry, especially once the Fujifilm GFX 100S hits the market, with its new 8K capable 100MP BSI sensor and faster sensor readout. And also an affordable rangefinder version is coming, the Fujifilm GFX 50R.

On the APS-C front, the current effort is set to give customers a wider range of camera body offers, by adding for example the Fujifilm X-H1 to the lineup, which will have IBIS and is more oriented towards video shooters, as well as giving “older” cameras a refresh, first and foremost the Fujifilm X-T3 by the end of 2018.

And lenses… lots of lenses for both, ASP-C and MF line, as we reported here.

The goal of this huge effort is very humbly described in Fujifilm’s medium-term management plan Vision 2019: “work toward capturing No.1 market share in the premium mirrorless camera market” within March 2020.

An incredibly ambitious goal, but as we can see, Fujifilm has lots of great stuff in the pipeline for 2018/2019, that has all been rumored on FujiRumors already (+ some surprises I am sure ;) )

I am ready to cover Fujifilm’s rise to camera-world domination here on FujiRumors…

… and if you want, you can follow this journey with me, by joining us also on Facebook, RSS-feed and Twitter.

Here is a list of some stuff, we can expect, but there will be more…

stay tuned… we are going to have fun :)

Fujifilm X-A5 and XC 15-45mm Pancake Zoom Announcement on January 31

Fujifilm Announcement January 31

Fellow Fujifilm Lovers,

I would like to inform you that Fujifilm is going to announce the long rumored Fujifilm X-A5 and the new XC 15-45mm F3.5-5.6 pancake zoom (more specs here), on January 31 (or 30, depending on your time zone).

Back in September 2017, as usual FujiRumors broke the news about the Fujifilm X-T100, a new entry level camera with Bayer sensor and viewfinder. But so far, no source could tell me the precise announcement date.

I guess that if the X-T100 would come with the X-A5 and XC-15-45 on January 31 or even with the Fujifilm X-H1 on February 15, then I would know it at this stage. However, it’s still very silent, which could mean the announcement is not immediate. Or maybe I’m just missing something… we will soon see.

As usual, you can expect full time and non stop Live Blogging coverage here on FujiRumors.

I know the X-A line is an absolute success in Asia, and in my recent trip to Prague (photos here, here and here), I indeed saw a few Asian people with the X-A2 or X-A3. But personally I’m not so hot on this camera.

Much more interesting is the XC15-45 pancake zoom, which, if its performance is worth of the name “Fujinon”, could become one of my travel lenses of the future. And looking at the poll below, I see I’m not the only one :).

With that said, the XF18-55 remains just an insanely good kit lens, and I doubt that the small pancake XC15-45 will be able to match its image quality.

Let’s wait for January 31 and see :)

In the meantime, make sure to follow us on Facebook, RSS-feed and Twitter, and to click on the little bell icon on the bottom right of your browser, to get instant notification, as soon as I can answer this question.

have a fantastic day,

COMING SOON: New Fujinon XC 15-45mm F3.5-5.6 OIS Pancake Power Zoom with Ø52 Filter Thread

New Fujinon XC15-45 Pancake Zoom

Hey guys,

Let’s start this week with a nice rumor, giving you all the core specs of Fujifilm’s rumored XC 15-45 lens… and here they are:

  • XC 15-45mm
  • Pancake Zoom
  • F 3.5 – 5.6
  • OIS (optical image stabilization)
  • Power Zoom
  • Filter Thread Ø52
  • Coming soon ;)

OIS: Yes, XC are slower that XF lenses, but also the little XC15-45 will have OIS, and given Fujifilm’s class leading optical image stabilization expertise, we can expect it to work fantastic also on this new pancake zoom, making the XC15-45 very usable also at slower shutter speeds.

FILTER THREAD: The filter thread –  Ø52 – is the same of the XF18mm and XF35mmF1.4.

POWER ZOOM: No manual/mechanical zoom on this lens. There will be a power zoom, meaning your will control electronically the zoom (remains to see if via button or ring, I don’t know this at this moment). We have to see how well this works in real life and how responsive and precise it is.

XC15-45 Vs. XC 16-50: The XC15-45 will have the same F stop and almost the same zoom range of the XC16-50mmF3.5-5.6, but will be significantly smaller. I can see XC16-50 sales drop considerably, after the announcement of the XC 15-45mm F3.5-5.6.

XC Lenses, any Good?

Fujinon XC lenses are optically wonderful lenses.

The only thing that differentiates them from XF lenses, is that XC lenses are slower and made more out of plastic, in order to contain production costs.

But in terms of image quality, theses XC lenses are terrific value for the money and fully honour their “Fujinon” family name :) .

Perfect Travel Companion for X-E3, X-A5, X-T100 & Co

If you remember, we had a discussion here on FujiRumors back in November 2017 about pancake lenses.

In fact, given the compact size of the X-E3, but also other Fujifilm cameras like the upcoming Fujifilm X-A5 and the Fujifilm X-T100, some of you thought that it might be time to expand Fuji’s pancake lens line-up, which currently consists only in the XF27mm and XF18mm.

Also back in November, I already gave you a little hint, by telling you how I would like to see something like the Panasonic 14-42mm OIS pancake, a lens I owned before I switched to Fujifilm many years ago.

Well, now the XC15-45 is coming, and I think that’s great news for all X shooters, who are looking for the ultimate compact and flexible travel lens.

So, I personally highly welcome the addition… and what about you? Let’s try to find it out with a quick poll.

And make sure to follow us on Facebook, RSS-feed and Twitter... because more rumors are coming :)

Pictures of Unreleased Fujifilm Camera Leaked

Pictures of and unreleased Fujifilm camera leaked online

  • FCCID: W2Z-02100005
  • FUJIFILM Corporation
  • Communication module: TYPE 1 FJ
  • Wireless standard: WLAN 802.11 b / g / n + Bluetooth

Nokishita believes that, due to the button arrangement, it could be the Fujifilm X-A5, a camera rumored here on FujiRumors.

As we reported here, there are totally 3 cameras registered by Fujifilm and that should come next (meaning 2018). One is the Fujifilm X-T2S IBIS camera, scheduled to hit the market in the first half of 2018. The Fujifilm X-A5 is also sure to come. There is one more camera left, and it should be either the Fujifilm X-T100 or the Fujifilm X80. But remember that Fujifilm is having issues with the X80 and the whole project has been delayed.

Fujifilm Registerd Another WiFi Camera (Now Totally 3)

Fujifilm registered another camera with bluetooth. This time the code name is FF170004 (WiFi only).

Just recently, they registered camera FF170003 here and other two cameras (FF170001 and FF170011) back in August.

The FF170001 was probably the Fujifilm X-E3, so we now have 3 registered Fujifilm cameras with bluetooth, that have not yet been announced.

  • FF170003 (WiFi + Bluetooth)
  • FF170004 (WiFi only)
  • FF170011 (WiFi + Bluetooth)

My guess is that it could be the Fujifilm X-A5, the X-T100 and the X-T2S. The X80 is also an option, but not sure if it will sport the X-TransIII sensor, as reported here.

Fujifilm X-Trans… Myths and Truth

Fujifilm X-Trans sensor is the evil, its design is seriously flawed and it causes all kinds of issues. That’s at least what every now and then pops up on the internet.

Since some of these “X-Trans sucks” comments and articles keep up appearing on the web and are sent to me via email, I decided to invest a few minutes of my time to address this here on FujiRumors and let you guys discuss about it in the comments.
