3 Big Errors FUJIFILM Makes in the Camera, Lenses and Instax World

3 Big Fujifilm Mistakes

Fujifilm is doing a lot of things right… but not everything.

So what I want to do today is to highlight 3 errors Fujifilm makes, 1 in the camera division, 1 regarding its lenses and a last one in the Instax world.

You might argue that this is just my opinion, and that’s correct… but also consider this:

Working everyday for such a large Fujifilm community here on FujiRumors, hence reading an average of 124 comments a day as well as a countless number of emails and personal messages on our social media, gives me a privileged insight of what are the needs and wishes that circulate amongst Fujifilm lovers.

So here are 3 errors I am sure will find a good number of you guys agree with me.

BREAKING: New Fujifilm Lens Roadmap to be Announced in July

Fujifilm Lens Roadmap Updates

Just a few days ago, we told you that the XF8-16 and XF200 will be announced in July.

Well, according to our trusted sources that’s not all Fujifilm will give us in July.

In fact, I have it now confirmed, that Fujifilm is going to release an updated lens roadmap, too.

*** REMINDER: 100% confirmed XF10 announcement on July 19 ***

Now, do you remember when back in February 2017 I asked you which lenses you would like next from Fujifilm?

Well, here is what happened after I asked you suggestions:

  • over 900 of you guys dropped a couple of thousands of suggestions in the comments – see here
  • I segregated myself in my room for a couple of days, read all your suggestions for countless hours and finally summed them all up into 30 lenses – see here
  • 15,000 (!!!!) of you voted in just a few days, and the results can been seen here

So we ended up with out top 6 lenses overall, as well as the top 3 primes and top 3 zooms.

It was a terrific work not only for me, but also for you guys, since you invested lots of time to discuss, recommend, argue, in order to help me to make the best list possible.

And now all we can do is hope… hope that Fujifilm listens.

So which are actually the most wanted lenses by the Fujifilm community? The answer is… here!

Huge things are happening soon… very soon… make sure follow us on Facebook, RSS-feed, Instagram, Youtube and Twitter to stay up to date.

BREAKING: Fujinon XF 8-16mm F2.8 and XF 200mm F2 Announcement in July

New Fujinon Lens Announcments

I know you guys would like…

… a rumor a day,

… but here on FujiRumors we do not make up rumors, or keep up regurgitating old ones, just to have something online.

If you decide to invest your time on FujiRumors, then it must be time well spent, hence we only share rumors when we have fresh ones.

This is why sometimes you might have to wait a few weeks before brand new rumors will be published, but it seems that your waiting is over, since I expect a wave of rumors coming.

According to our trusted sources, the Fujinon XF 8-16mm f/2.8 and Fujinon XF 200mm f/2 will be announced in July.

As we already told you months ago, the XF 200mm f/2 will come with the new 1.4x teleconverter, since current teleconverters only perform well down to f/2.8, but not f/2.

I remind you that we shared yesterday, that it is 100% sure that the Fujifilm XF10 will be announced on July 19.

A whirlwind of rumors is coming… don’t miss anything and make sure to follow us on Facebook, RSS-feed, Instagram, Youtube and Twitter.

Fujifilm XF10 Announcement Postponed to After July 5

Fujifilm XF10

Back in June we reported that Fujifilm registered a camera with the code name “FF 180002” to be announced on July 5, said the same document.

However, as spotted by nokishita, Fujifilm now removed the reference to the July 5th announcement from the document. Nokishita writes “it is unclear whether it is a mistake or postponement“.

So don’t expect anything coming on July 5th. You can celebrate Independence Day and take care about the hang-over the day after… there won’t be any live blogging you have to follow :) .

The Fujifilm XF10 is an X70 without one of the most loved features of the X70, the selfie screen, and it has a Bayer sensor.

The Fujifilm XF10 can not be considered and won’t be even marketed as the X70 successor. We already wrote our X80 wish-list with list of features and improvements we would like to see over the X70.

Currently there are a total of 3 Fujifilm cameras registered:

  • FF 180002: Camera similar in size to Fujifilm X70. Very likely the Fujifilm XF10
  • FF 180003: Camera with bluetooth version 4.2. Very likely the Fujifilm X-T3
  • FF 180004: Camera with radio parts like Fujifilm X-H1 and X-E3. Very likely the Fujifilm GFX 50R

Samsung and Fujifilm Developed New CMOS Image Sensor Technology for Enhanced Light Sensitivity and Color Fidelity

Fujifilm + Samsung Sensor Cooperation

Many of you guys often said Fujifilm should stop to buy their sensors from Sony and buy them from Samsung, who already had a 28MP BSI sensor back in 2014 with their fantastic Samsung NX1, a camera that sadly didn’t had the success it deserved and that marked the end of Samsung’s attempt to join the high-end camera market.

But we know that Japanese and Korean companies don’t really like to cooperate.

However, this tabu might have been broken now.

Samsung officially said they are developing a new CMOS sensor technology for mobile photography (smartphones) that allows better pixel isolation and hence improves light sensitivity and color fidelity. Samsung calles it the “ISOCELL Plus” technology.

And in order to make this new sensor possible, Samsung needs Fujifilm.

In fact, the new optimized pixel isolation architecture requires the replacement of the metal barrier with an innovative new material developed by Fujifilm, which minimizes optical loss and light reflection.

You can read all the details in the full press-release below. Here are the two statements of the companies:

FUJIFLM SAYS:

“We value our strategic relationship with Samsung and would like to congratulate on the completion of the ISOCELL Plus development,” said Naoto Yanagihara, corporate vice president of Fujifilm. “This development is a remarkable milestone for us as it marks the first commercialization of our new material. Through continuous cooperation with Samsung, we anticipate to bring more meaningful innovation to mobile cameras.”

SAMSUNG SAYS:

“Through close collaboration with Fujifilm, an industry leader in imaging and information technology, we have pushed the boundaries of CMOS image sensor technology even further,” said Ben K. Hur, vice president of System LSI marketing at Samsung Electronics. “The ISOCELL Plus will not only enable the development of ultra-high-resolution sensors with incredibly small pixel dimensions, but also bring performance advancements for sensors with larger pixel designs.”

Let’s hope this is the start of a proficous collaboration between Samsung and Fujifilm, that opens up new possibilities of cooperation for future projects, maybe also some related to high-end photography APS-C and Medium Format sensors.

As of now, Sony is dominant in the sensor business, and we would definitely need more competition in this area. And Samsung is for sure a company that has the know-how, economic power and infrastructure to take away a piece of the large sensor business cake from Sony.

Also consider that Samsung is not a direct competitor of Fujifilm in the high-end camera business, hence Fujifilm could get always the latest and greatest sensor technology quickier and cheaper than they get it now from Sony.

If you want to see how the cooperation continues and be up to date in real time, make sure to follow us on Facebook, RSS-feed, Instagram, Youtube and Twitter

have a GREAT day,
