Steelsring Nikon F to Fujifilm X Smart Adapter Development Announced… back in May ;) ! And What it Could Mean for Nikon Z6 and Z7

Nikon F to Fuji X Smart Adapter

Here on FujiRumors, we value your time and we want it to be time well spent, which is why we don’t like to regurgitate old news, since we are full of fresh news and rumors every day :)

However, today I woke up and found a few emails in my inbox from readers, asking me if I ever heard about the Steelsring Nikon F to Fujifilm X smart adapter.

So I figured out that in this case, it might be useful to share a reminder, since you might have missed it…. repetita juvant, as they say.

We reported back in May, that the Nikon F to Fuji X (as well as Nikon F to Fuji GFX) smart adapter is in development. Then, last month here, we showed you a first video demo of the GFX to Nikon F smart adapter version.

You can check out more at steelsring here.

If this adapter works well, then this could help to keep up the migration from Nikon to Fujifilm, which Nikon is trying to stop with the Nikon Z6 and Nikon Z7 (about time, Nikon!).

Nikon users could continue to switch to Fujifilm and keep some of the Nikkor lenses they grow fond to. But I am pretty sure that once they enter and meet the Fujinon XF lens system quality, selling their Nikkor glass will become much easier than they would think ;).

Lots of other news, but also TONS of exciting rumors are coming… NOW! Make sure not to miss them hit the bell on the bottom right of your browser, to get instant browser notifications.

And I am warming up my fingers right now for a very exciting X-T3 live blogging. :)

A LOVE Letter to FUJIFILM in Times of Mirrorless Wars

A Love Letter to Fujifilm in Times or Mirrorless Wars

The video above has been shared by Fujifilm UK on their youtube channel here for the World Photography Day 2018.

I really like it, because none of the photographers interviewed mentions for a single time the word “Fujifilm” or “megapixel“. They “just” tell us what photography means to them.

Just the fact that Fujifilm shares such videos on their channels, denotes a photographic culture, that, so they tell me, is lacking in some other brands.

Tamron 150-600 AF on Fujifilm X-H1 through Fringer EF-FX adapter (firmware V2.30 Coming Mid-August)

Tamron 150-600 AF on Fujifilm X-H1

Just a few days ago, Fringer released ver. 2.20 of their smart adapters for the Fujifilm X and GFX system.

Now they are already working on the next firmware update ver.2.30,which will be released in mid-August.

As a teaser, Fringer posted a video showing the Tamron 150-600 F/5-6.3 autofocus on the Fujifilm X-H1 using the Fringer EF-FX adapter (see video above or on Fringer’s youtube here).

One of the main critics when looking at the Fujifilm system, is the lack of autofocus third party lens support.

Well, all those nice AF adapters that are now on the market (full list below), should definitely weaken these critics, since more and more Canon, Tamron, Sigma and soon also Nikon lenses will work just fine with AF on your Fujifilm camera.

So DO NOT sell your beloved Canon & Co glass to quickly, when you switch to Fujifilm. If there is a lens you abolutely love (and is not covered by native Fujinon lenses), you might get one of those adapters to make it work on your Fujfiilm camera.

NIKON Mirrorless Camera is Coming, and FUJIFILM is Happy About it

NIKON MIRRORLESS IS COMING…

So yes, they are finally doing it.

Nikon is coming with a serious mirrorless (FF… or even MF?) camera on August 23. And Canon will follow soon.

Unlike other occasions, where Nikon marketing terribly failed, this time I find the whole thing with the teasers a brilliant move. The only risk I see is that the final thing won’t match the high expectations, like when Nikon made all these Nikon DF teasers (and Kai made a funny parody of them).

Anyway, Nikon is confident, and promises “a leap into a new dimension that will last for the next 100 years“.

We know very little about the upcoming Nikon mirrorless camera. So let’s wait until August 23 before we discuss the camera more in-depth.

But what we can discuss now, is what Nikon’s and Canon’s move into the mirrorless world means for Fujifilm X and GFX lovers.

… FUJIFILM IS HAPPY…

Fujifilm managers said here that they welcome CaNikon Full Frame mirrorless cameras, because…

“[…] having those strong brands in the mirrorless marketplace increases general awareness of mirrorless, and that’s a good thing for the whole industry.”

Many people, who currently still think that DSLRs are the only real professional tool, might start to think differently, once they see that even Canon and Nikon start to cannibalize their own high-end DSLR market in favor of their new mirrorless offering.

And this is where Fujifilm (and other mirrorless manufacturers) have their opportunity.

If the message finally passes that “mirrorless is the future” (and it is the future), plenty of DSLR users (who are mainly APS-C shooters, as Fuji Guy Billy correctly said in his X-T100 first look here) will start to migrate to Mirrorless.

Maybe many will just go to CaNikon mirrorless, but at least Fujifilm has the chance to finally attract some of those mirroless-migrants to their X or GFX systems by offering already today:

  • 28 APS-C Fujinon lenses
  • 2 APS-C MK video lenses
  • 3 APS-C flagships (X-T, X-Pro and X-H line)
  • Plenty of APS-C mid range and entry-level cameras
  • 2 Medium Format Cameras (GFX 50s and very soon an affordable GFX 50R)
  • 6 Medium Format Lenses (more to be announced soon)

It remains to see if the mirrorless-migrants will be patient and wait years for Canon and Nikon to build up a complete new system, or if, since they have to change system and change lenses anyway (unless they use adapters), they will directly switch to more established and experienced mirrorless brands like Fujifilm (APS-C or MF) or Sony (FF),

… AND X/GFX SHOOTERS ARE HAPPY TOO!

What would Fujifilm be today, without the pressure they got from Sony, Panasonic and Olympus? Probably a much worst system than it is today. So, competition is a good thing.

That’s why I hope that the Nikon mirrorless camera will be a top performing camera and very rich in features, a real flagship!

It will motivate Fujifilm (and other companies) to work even harder and to invest even more money into their camera system, and hence improve and expand the Fujifilm system even faster.

So thank you Nikon… thank you Canon… for finally joining seriously the mirrorless side of life… just please, let it be awesome mirrorless cameras ;) .

FujiRumors is Back from “Holidays”: Ready for Rumors and Editing Pictures (but Fujifilm Film Simulations make Life Easier)

FujiRumors Blogging on the Road :)

My Holidays

It’s done… I made it…

I drove over 2,500 miles (4,000+ km) with my girlfriend on my old Mazda2 and since a few days now I am back home.

It was a rather complicated road trip, due to the huge Fujifilm rumors and announcements in July. But I had great moments during my trip, and also blogging was exciting… especially the new roadmap made me happy :)

I am now about to edit my images, but I am so happy that I guess in about 80% of the cases I will get excellent results applying Fujifilm film simulations only (or slightly fine tuned).

I travelled with my Fujifilm X-E3, XF10-24, XF18-135, XF35mmF1.4, XF27mmF2.8 and Samyang 12mm F2.

And of course my trusty Sirui T-025X carbon fiber travel tripod (bought upon your recommendation).

My most used lenses were the XF10-24 and XF18-135, since I mostly focussed on landscape photography in this trip.

I used the 35 and 27 mainly to make some portraits of my girlfriend and some street photos, but so far I could not convince her to give me permission to share them on FujiRumors, but I’ll not give up, and if I get permission, I will share them on my Instagram page here.

I have shared the first few images of my trip on my social media already (more will come), so in case you would like to find out which places I have been to, just check out my Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages.

Just a teaser (includes yet unedited images):

Your Rumors

Now I am back… 100% focussed on FujiRumors… and I tell you: I have the feeling that rumors will come. Many of them. And here is what you should do, if you don’t want to miss them:

  • ALLOW PUSH NOTIFICATION: at the bottom right of your browser, you’ll see a little bell icon. Click on it to enable browser push notifications (or disable them, if you don’t want them). This is an excellent way to get instant notifications.
  • FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA: another excellent way to get the rumors in your news feeds is to follow Fujirumors on Facebook, RSS-feed, Instagram, Youtube and Twitter

Guys, we are going to have fun… and I have the feeling you don’t want to miss the exciting Fujifilm rumors that are coming ;)

New Roadmap Lenses Images

Yesterday Fujifilm announced a new Fujinon X mount lens roadmap, along with the XF 8-16mm F2.8 and XF 200mm F2. Of course we reported about immediately here on FujiRumors Live Blogging.

The new roadmap includes the following 3 new lenses:

  • Fujinon XF 16-80mm F4
  • Fujinon XF 33mm F1.0
  • Fujinon XF 16mm F2.8

Now the first images of the XF 16-80mm F4 and XF 16mm F2.8 mock ups start surfacing on the web, and you can see them down all below and have been shared at dc.watch and by pw-pix2 at dpreview.

In addition to that, you will see also more real life images of the XF 8-16mm F2.8 and XF 200mm F2.

As you can see, despite I am currently on holidays (driving to Matera now), I will not miss a single tidbit and break it all for you here on FujiRumors first. This and more, for the wonderful community around FR, who was even able to dictate to the Japan Fujifilm Headquarter the lenses we want next ;)

And I tell you… it’s by far not over and more great stuff is coming soon!

Make sure to follow us on Facebook, RSS-feed, Instagram, Youtube and Twitter.

Fujifilm XF 8-16mm F2.8 and XF 200mm F2 Images and Price Leaked

New Fujinon Lenses

The price and the first images of the Fujinon XF 200mm F2 and XF 8-16mm F2.8 have been leaked by nokishita.

In British pounds the lenses will cost:

  • XF 200mm F2 with new 1.4x Teleconerter – £5,399. ($7,000)
  • XF 8-16mm F2.8 – £1,799 ($2,332)

And how much in US Dollar $$$?

In UK, the XF 8-16mm F2.8 will be £100 ($130) cheaper than the XF100-400, which is sold in USA for $1,899. So maybe we will get for about $1,799 in USA?

Regarding the XF200mm F2, our sources said months ago it will be sold for about $6,000 with 1.4x TC.

Also, as we told you back in March, the XF200mm F2 won’t be black as displayed by Fujifilm at every photography fair, but white/light silver.

ANNOUNCEMENT: Both lenses will be announced in July… just stay tuned on FujiRumors, and you will get the live blogging 0,001 seconds after the announcements.
