The X-Pro2 Metal Hand Grip is now available at BHphoto and Adorama. It’s still unavailable at AmazonUS.

It will hardly mitigate the pain for the unexpected long X-Pro2 waiting, but it seems that whatever the issue was, Fuji fixed it and will start shipping the camera in early March (probably March 10).

It seems that Lensmate was wrong, with their guess, the Fujiilm X-Pro2 could ship in April. Check out this:

FR-reader ChiPhi confirmed:

“Just received a note from B & H letting me know that my order’s ‘Expected availability’ is now March 10th. I really hope it does not get pushed much more as I am chomping at the bit.”

AmazonUS is even more optimistic… they still say the X-Pro2 shipping will start February 25.

Several Lensmate customers are getting this notification: the Fujifilm X-Pro2 shipping could be moved out until April! Fujfilm customer service says that Fuji is “tweaking the firmware“. This confirms that this rumor could be correct. However, as we know from Kevin Mullins, the production Firmware has apparently just been released. So I doubt it is still a firmware issue. Maybe Lensmate isn’t just up to date with the latest news from Fujifilm.

Fujifilm still officially sets the release for “beginning of March”… the official reason? “High Demand”

After eoshd here, now also dpreview confirms: for Fujfilm, the X-Pro2 marks a huge step forward. No 4K, no S-Log, sure, but what it does, it seems to do really good. Here is what dpreview says:

To those waiting for the Fujifilm X-E3. I’ve been contacted by a source, who was right in the past, and it told me that there won’t be an X-E3 in 2016.

The Importance of the X-E2S

Now the big question is: will there ever be an X-E3? I don’t know yet. And I don’t think Fujifilm has made the final decision about it.

Fujifilm might take a close look how the Fujifilm X-E2S sells compared to the X-T10 in the next months. If the X-E2S sells well and won’t be cannibalized by the X-T10, showing Fuji that there is a good market also for rangefinder styled cameras, then I have high hopes that Fujifilm will launch the Fujifilm X-E3 in 2017… but if the X-E2S doesn’t sell, then I’m afraid we can say good-bye to the X-E line.

So, I’m crossing fingers that the X-E2S will sell like hot cakes, because I consider the X-E line very interesting, and just like the X-T1 with the X-T10, also the X-Pro2 should have a more affordable rangefinder sibiling.

2016 will be THE Fuji Year :: Big Rumor Overview and Rumor Check :: 84% correct rumors…. but actually it’s more ;)

I’m aware of one thing: I will never ever be able to give you a 100% rumor accuracy.

Sure, I sometimes just post a wrong rumor, but often those “wrong” rumors were actually correct at the time of sharing… it’s just the products did not materialize (did you notice the X-Pro1s amongst the X-Pro1 successor prototypes showed by Fujfilm ;) ?)

But luckily Our Sources Rock, and often they can keep us updated with the latest changes at Fuji’s house. They are my guide through the tons of fakes I get from people who apparently don’t like FujiRumors. And that’s why at the end, in the last 12 months, Fujirumors has the following (in my opinion amazing) numbers:

  • 140 rumors shared
  • 117 of these 140 rumors could be verified
  • 98 of those 117 rumors were correct
  • 19 were wrong (or right at the time of sharing, but Fuji changed plans)
  • 23 rumors still have to be checked
  • 84% correct rumors

So, my fellow X-Shooters, I will continue to keep you up to date with Fuji’s plans, even if this means taking risks that Fuji changes plans, and I’ll expose myself to shitstorms. But my job here is to keep you informed, so that you can make better buying decisions and also send your Feedback directly to Fujifilm (who reads this blog), while they are still discussing possible products.

“It’s widely assumed that Fujifilm’s X-Trans sensors use low-noise Sony silicon behind their unusual color filter arrays, and the performance of the X-Pro2 is certainly up to that standard. Compared here with the Nikon D5500 (using the same shutter speeds so that they are working with the same amount of light), you can see very similar amounts of noise up to a 4EV push, and possibly a fraction more after a 5 stop push, though the difference may simply be one of grain structure, caused by the different demosaicing processes.

This performance gives plenty of flexibility when it comes to pulling extra tonal information out of the shadows. It means there’s more scope for processing than with the likes of the Canon EOS 70D, and very similar to the results of the Samsung NX1.”
