Profoto Announces Support for More Fujifilm Cameras in Addition to GFX 50S, X-T2, X-Pro2 and X100F

Profoto Fujifilm Support

Back on November 18, we told you that Profoto will start shipping their Air Remote TTL-F for Fujifilm on December 18. Well, Profoto actually started shipping it even earlier, as we reported here.

You can pre-order the Air Remote TTL-F at BHphoto, AmazonUS and Adorama.

Currently the Profoto Air Remote TTL-F supports Fujifilm GFX 50S, X-T2, X-Pro2 and X100F, but on their official page here, they say:

Other relevant cameras will be made compatible in the future through camera firmware upgrades by Fujifilm.”

I hope this means support also for older Fujifilm X-Trans cameras like the Fujifilm X-T1.

Thanks for the link Andrew ;)

Fujifilm X100F, Limitation and Liberation :: Best (and Cheap) X100F Accessories :: Is it as Good as it Looks? (X100F Roundup)

Fujifilm X100F

The X100 line is and remains my forbitten dream.

And I had a hard time recently to decide between the Fujifilm X100F and the Fujifilm X-E3. I went for the X-E3 and added the 27mm to it, trying to emulate the compactness of the X100F.

But still I miss the leaf shutter, the hybrid viewfinder, the build in ND-filter, the combined ISO/Shutter dial and last but not least, the incredibly sexy look of the X100F. And with WCL-X100 and TCL-X100 the X100F is a flexible mini-system that would cover most of my photographic needs.

The Fujifilm X100F follows the philosophy: limitation is liberation, or less is more.

So let there be another X100F zone today…. while I’m driving home from Prague in the night, on roads white of snow. What a fun drive :)

Why I Bought Fujifilm X-E3 (and not X-T20, X100F, X-H1)… and Why All this Hate for XF27mm? – FIRST IMPRESSIONS

I’m packing. I’m leaving. A long car ride all to way to Prague is waiting for me.

But before I leave, here is a blog post about why I bought the X-E3, XF27mm and XF10-24, as well as some initial feedback… sadly also something negative amongst it.

But first… make sure to follow our Fujifilm X-E facebook group.

DPReview Top Gear 2017 Awards: Sony Wins Big. Fujifilm X-E3 and X100F Runner-Up

via camerasize

DPReview Awards 2017

DPReview just declared their favorite gear of 2017.

The big winner is Sony, with the best product of the year, the Sony A7rIII and more awards. Fujifilm does not win anything, but is Runner-Up in the Midrange ILC (X-E3) and Compact Camera (X100F) category.

If I should highlight just one thing that I (respectfully) do not agree with DPReview: I think the Fujifilm X100F would have made a much better “compact camera” award winner than the rather huge Sony RX10 IV.

Here are the winners:

And the rest of the awards go to…

Fujifilm X-E3 Vs. X-T20 Vs. X100F…. and FF stands for “Fujifilm Forever”, or FujiRumors Shooting with Sony A7rIII :)

FF = Fujifilm Forever :)

*WARNING: this short intro will contain personal opinions that do not want to offend those of you, who think different. FR knows that what I feel good with, might not be what you like. FR also likes the innovation Sony brings in many areas, including digital cameras and sensor technology, and we have applauded their new products in the past here on FujiRumors (and I will be forever grateful to Sony for the Walkman :) ). And yet, I’m sorry, I still love Fujifilm way more, as you could already read in my Sony Specs (A7rII) Vs. Fuji Fun (X-T1) comparison.

This Sunday I am at SonyAlphaRumors‘ home, and I won’t miss the opportunity to shoot with his new Sony A7rIII. I will start now to use it a couple of hours, so my very first impressions are only about ergonomics… and Fujifilm, for me personally, wins.

I don’t like the PASM dial, and the tactile retro controls of Fuji cameras is, for me, way more intuitive. I am convinced that, if you give a Fujifilm and Sony camera to an experienced photographer, who never shot with those brands, that person will feel immediatly more comfortable using the Fuji, because all the most important settings are just right there, clearly visible on dials. Shutter, ISO, Aperture, metering mode, AF mode and a lot more can be seen and set even with the camera turned off.

Yep, for me it’s like many other people say: the Fujifilm just disappears in your hands :).

But I am sure I will have fun playing around with the Sony A7rIII and look forward to shoot with it today.

You can see the Sony A7rIII in my hands here :)

Fujifilm X-E3

When I shared the mixed zone yesterday, some of you wondered why it does not include any Fujifilm X-E3 related content.

Don’t worry, I didn’t forget that little beautiful camera.

In fact, I did plan a separate and dedicated X-E3 roundup, and here it is. Enjoy it :)

National Geographic Declares Fujifilm X-T2 Best Overall Compact Travel Camera 2017… Top 10 Ranking Includes X-T20 and X100F

The end of 2017 is approaching, so get ready for many “Top gear of the year” and similar articles appearing on the web. So let’s start, this time with National Geographic, who listed their Top 10 compact cameras for travels.

This year, there are 3 Fuji cameras in the ranking, the Fujifilm X-T2, the X100F and the X-T20 (in 2015 Nat Geo awarded 2 Fuji cameras, the X-T1 and X100T, as reported here).

Read the whole article “Top 10 Compact Cameras for Travelers” at nationalgeographic here and click on the product link in the list below for specs & price:

About the X-T2 they write:

The X-T2 has everything one would want in a professional DSLR in a APS-C mirrorless camera. The combination of quality manual dials to control settings, speed of image processing, the amazing line lenses and the build quality make this camera such a pleasure to use that many professionals now use this camera as their main system. You simply cannot go wrong with the X-T2 as a high end travel camera; it’s an all-star, all-around team player that just won’t quit or let you down, no matter where your travels take you.”

However, in the features list of the X-T2 and X-T20 they mention the “five-axis image stabilization“. Now, Fujifilm has arguably the best optical lens image stabilization system on the market, but so far, IBIS is something that will come… in a not so distant future ;) .

Anyway, do you agree with this list?

Sure, the Fujifilm X-T2 has weather sealing, so definitely a nice to have feature on travels. On the other hand, nothing can beat the simplicity and lightness of travelling with the X100F. And coupled with the WCL-X100 and TCL-X100, the X100F is a wonderful mini-system with leaf shutter and build-in ND-filter, that makes it so much more versatile than “just” for street photography.

But let’s see what you think about it :)

The best camera I have used, ever, hands down, is the Fujifilm X100F… in black.

This is quite the statement considering that there are arguably technically “better” cameras on the market with better dynamic range, faster AF, sharper sensors etc, but for me, this is the best camera in the world … for me.

Let me explain…

Ron Howard Shoots New Star Wars Movie… and Fujifilm X100F :)

from Ron Howard’s Instagram: “That’s a wrap on principle photography for #Solo Many thanks to an extraordinary cast and crew for a tremendous creative experience

Fujifilm X100F

There is a long list of celebrities shooting Fujifilm, and now we can add another one: Ron Howard.

Ron Howard is currently working on the new Star Wars Movie “Solo: a Star Wars Story“, and he just posted am image on Instagram, where you can see how he rocks the Fujifilm X100F. Feel free to give him a warm welcome to the X side of life the Force over at his instagram here.

It’s nothing new, that Hollywood loves Fujifilm cameras. Ron Howard shoots the X100F. The official photos of the recent “Dunkirk” blockbuster had been taken with an X-Pro2 with XF18-135, the X100S was the travel camera of Hector, in the Movie ““Hector’s Search for Happiness” (which I saw in the airplane, when flying back from Cambodia) and the Fuji X-Pro1 was used in the Movie “The Neon Demon” by Nicolas Winding Refn. Another movie using Fujifilm X-T2 is Den of Thieves. X-series cameras are also used in TV series like Parenthood TV, The Last Ship and by lots of celebrities.

And here is an X100F roundup for you guys. Enjoy it.
