A Huge Fujifilm Day Needs a Huge FujiRumors Recap

Lucky me that I am on holiday in South Italy, Tropea, right now… because here coffee is super strong, cheap and delicious… and I take tons of it in these days, to survive the immense and sleepless live blogging and rumors.

Yes, I know, in theory this should be my holidays, a travel through France and Italy that you can follow on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter

But I canceled all my planed day trips, island hopping boat tours, the sunset/sunrise photographing, and I will remain locked in my room with my 3G hotspot to deliver you guys what you deserve: the best Fujifilm coverage in the known universe ;)

It’s just an fun moment to be a Fujifilm shooter, and in the last 24 hours a lot happened.

So I thought it’s time to give you a quick summary of what happened, just in case you tuned in on FR only now, or in case you are confused by all the articles.

NEW LENS ROADMAP

You might remember how 1.5 years ago, I asked you guys what you would like to see next from Fujfiilm. I got several thousands lens suggestions, and I worked day and night to sum up all your ideas into 30 lenses.

And then over 15,000 of you voted, and the result was clear

  • most wanted zoom: XF 16-80mm F4
  • most wanted prime: XF 33mm F1

Of course I knew Fujifilm will take note of our wishes. But not only they took note, the copied them 1:1, so now we will get them both… plus one more, the XF 16mm F2.8, which I think is mainly ment to be a fine Vlogging lens. Now I wonder… does Fujifilm really read your comments and look at your poll votes ??? ;)

So here is the magic trio that will be soon part of the roadmap.

  • XF 16mm f2.8 R WR
  • XF 16-80mm f4 R LM OIS WR
  • XF 33mm F1 R WR

Fujifilm is known to be a very creative company, always open to new markets and ideas.

For example, they used the materials of their dying film rolls business to produce cosmetics (see also “how Fujifilm survived the digital age“).

A flexible company like Fujifilm coudn’t miss the digital camera train, and they released the amazing X and GFX series cameras and lenses.

But what if all this fails?

Well, Fujifilm has a fantastic Plan B: Feed the World!

In fact, Fujifilm Korea just launched the Fujifilm Film Simulation Instant Noodles.

Not kidding guys.

Over 10,000 of you voted in just 3 days at our ultimate “future X-mount lenses” Poll… as usual, you guys do not disappoint when it comes to giving Fujifilm your feedback :-)

Your open discussions and massive votes in polls make the FujiRumors Community an unmatched source of online user feedback for Fujifilm…. so no surprise that your suggestions and comments not only have already been publicy shown at offical Fujifilm press events, but have also influenced Fujifilm’s decisions.

So let’s continue this tradition of giving Fujifilm Managers our feedback, and share with them our top 6 APS-C lenses on the wishlist.

  5. Fujinon XF 18mm f/2 MK II (14%)

Considerations… and that 33/1, C’mon Fuji!!!

The overall Top Wish, the 8-16/2.8, is on Fuji’s internal roadmap and should come after the 80mm according to this rumor. The official updated roadmap, released just a few days ago, mentions only an “ultra wide angle zoom” for 2018. So, well done, Fuji, you’ll make many of us happy :-)

Sadly, the XF33mmF1.0 has apparently been scratched, according to this rumor. Let’s just hope, that the overwhelming result this lens got in our poll will help Fujifilm to reconsider their position. C’mon Fuji… it’s clear we want that lens!!!

So, dear Fujifilm, we evidently want the 33/1 even more badly than the “telephoto prime lens” in your new roadmap (the 200mm is Nr. 14th on the wish list, with 8% of the votes). Sure, the 200 closes a gap in the line-up, but the 33/1 should have priority anyway… so says the X-community.

The XF18mmF2 MK II is another top wish, and, according to this rumor, it is indeed on Fujifilm internal roadmap, but not yet on the official one.

An honourable mention goes to the 18mm Tilt Shift lens, which is 9th out of 30 lenses, and would have probably gathered even more votes if it was a 14mm lens.

I have no information about the other top lenses lenses in your wish-list. Hi Patrick

I did a trip to the Cordillera Blanca and Cordillera Huayhuash this July and August and shot with my X-E1. Mostly shot with the 14mm, but some with the 35mm. I’m starting to post on flickr here:

I think you might like the photos and I have not seen high mountain shots on your site yet. Most of my shots were at 4200 meters (13,779 ft.) or above.

FR-reader Kevin linked me his to his blog post about his travel in Cuba. I’m happy to share his images with you (thepictorial.com/general/havana-cuba-with-the-fuji-x100s/). His travel equipment? Here it is:

“Equipment wise, this trip had me very excited. As usual I juggled various camera ideas and setups in my head before leaving Canada and in the end settled on the combination of the New Fuji X100s with the [shoplink 12893 ebay]WCL-X100 adapter[/shoplink], and the Fuji X-E1 with 35mm f1.4 lens attached. Coupled with these I had the usual spare batteries, a lightweight tripod (that I ended up not using), an Infra Red pass-through filter, and an excellent [shoplink 15975]“Think Tank Retrospective 7″[/shoplink] bag to carry it all in. My bulky DSLR and lenses stayed at home.”

Dear Patrick,

I bought my X-E1 about five months ago and have been loving it. I learned photography when I was in high school using old Pentax film cameras and I still remember the clicking aperture ring on those babies. I really like how the X-E1 feels like a manual camera but with modern conveniences.

Great job with the site; I check it regularly to get tips and ideas and find out what’s new. I was inspired to email you because of a recent post you did about someone traveling for a year with their X-Pro1 [see here]. My partner and I are also traveling, but not for quite so long, our adventure is 4 months and coming to an end soon. We’ve been to the Middle-East, Africa, and Asia. We’ve been keeping a blog with some of our shots from the trip and thought you might be interested to see it. I actually did a post today about our photography workflow on the road.

I forgot to say one thing – I really hope Fuji announces a multi-purpose zoom for the X system, something like 16-80mm comparable to [shoplink 16005]Canon’s 24-105mm[/shoplink] which is a great travel lens.
