Viltrox 56mmF1.4 vs Fujinon XF 56mmF1.2 First Image Quality Comparison

The Viltrox 56mm f/1.4 is available for pre-order now, and one of the big questions is: how does it compare to the good old Fujinon XF56mmf/1.2?

Well, down below you can see the first size and image quality comparison that surfaced on the web and a FR-reader sent me.

Please note: Fujifilm (富士) is on the left and Viltrox (唯卓仕) on the right.

Also, the image slide down below consists of resized .jpeg files, so you can give a quick and easy glance at the comparison.

However, it’s uploading very slowly (not the fastest connection where I live), so for now I was able to upload only 3 comparisons. And since it’s 1:18 AM at my home, I think it’s time also for FR to sleep, considering I have to wake up early tomorrow. But I will finish the upload as soon as I have time again.

FUJIFILM Wonder Photo Shop in New York City Closed Permanently

FR-reader Paul (see his Instagram) has just received a sad email by Fujifilm, where Fuji announces the permanent closure of the FUJIFILM Wonder Photo Shop in New York City.

Thank you for your ongoing support of the FUJIFILM Wonder Photo Shop in New York City as we’ve all continued to adjust to this “new normal”. Unfortunately, we have some sad news to share with you, our valued Wonder Photo Shop customers. We have decided to close the New York City store permanently, effective September 9, 2020. This unprecedented time in our history has allowed us to re-evaluate the Wonder Photo Shop model and while our New York City store is closing, we will be introducing a new omni-channel shopping experience, led by e-commerce, that will begin to roll-out October 2020. From there we intend to bring a new in-store experience to the US market at some point in 2021.

Having personal opportunities to connect with our customers is very important to us, and FUJIFILM North America Corporation is developing initiatives to ensure that you will have seamless access to the products you know and trust. Additionally, our social media channels will remain active, so together we can continue to share the joy of photography. We’ll also be updating our social channels with the latest exciting developments on what we have planned next for you.

FUJIFILM Announces possible XF 50mmF1.0 Shipping Delay due to Demand Exceeding by Far Fuji’s Expectations

The Fujinon XF50mm f/1.0 is scheduled to be be released in September 24/25.

But now Fujifilm has issued an official press release, where they announce that demand is far stronger than they expected, and hence there is a possibility that there will be shipping-delays. Fujifilm writes:

The “Fujinon Lens XF50mm F1.0 R WR” announced on September 3, 2020 (Thursday) has received inquiries far exceeding our expectations, and we cannot deliver the product on the release date. There is a possibility.

We are currently working hard to meet the number of requests, and we appreciate your understanding.

Fujifilm is not a company that uses the “high demand” phrase too often. When they decide to inform us about high demand, then it’s usually also accurate.

I think last time they spoke about “high demand” it was for the Fujifilm GFX100, and we all know how that ended (biblical long waiting times and 50% higher demand that Fujifilm expected).

Here on FujiRumors, the brand new Fujinon XF50mmF1.0 enjoys one of the strongest XF lens pre-orders of all time, so at least our little FR-Universe seems to confirm Fuji’s statement.

Fujifilm is about to launch the new Fujifilm Instax Square SQ1. As reported by nokishita:

Sure, the big eye-catcher is that “EFF-ONE-POINT-ZERO”, which makes it worlds first mirrorless f/1.0 lens with autofocus.

But what if I told you, that by focusing on the super-shallow DOF, we actually miss out on the probably even more exciting features of the brand new XF50mm f/1.0?

Because, in my opinion, beating the DOF of the 56/1.2 is not the point of this lens, or at least not the only one, and certainly not the main one.

Nokishita spotted the registration of a new Fujifilm camera, the FF200001.

Fujifilm’s digital camera “FF200001” has passed FCC certification. Equipped with Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n) and Bluetooth (same RF module as X-Pro3 model number [WM-BN-BM-26 _A_ FF3 ]) .

he designated date for public disclosure of the certified material is October 16, 2020.

So, the official product images of the upcoming Fujinon XF50mmF1.0 have just been leaked here.

I thought to make a quick but accurate size comparison between the Fujinon XF 50mm F1.0 and the XF 56mm F1.2 as well as the XF 16-55mm F2.8.

What we can see, is that our previous size comparison (based on technical sketches) was totally accurate too, hence, if you want to see the size of the Fujinon XF50mmF1.0 compared to the originally planed XF33mmF1.0 and the stellar XF90mmF2, check out our previous post here.
