Fujinon XF150-600mm and XF18-120mm Size Comparison with XF18-135 vs XF16-80mm vs XF200mm and More

What you see here is the most accurate size comparison possible based on technical sketches Fujifilm provided during the Fujifilm X summit that took place earlier today.

We compare:

Of course this is based on technical sketches, so don’t expect it to be 100% accurate, as things will change from here to the 2022. But so far, for a lens of that range, it does not look bad at all.

Also, if you read FujiRumors regulary, and if you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that the Fujinon XF18-135mm lens is one of my favorite lenses. You can see samples I took with the XF18-135 on my instagram here and here and here and even more. Well, at the Fujifilm X summit, which we covered in detail here, Fujifilm announced the Fujinon XF18-120mm.

So based on the technical sketched delivered during the event, I have made an accurate size comparison between the following lenses:

Yes, it is longer than the XF18-135mm, but keep it mind that we don’t know its aperture now, and that Fujifilm said during the Fujifilm X Summit that this will be lenses that are suitable also for video, so I guess they will be designed with minimal focus breathing, silent autofocus, clickless aperutre ring and other features that are needed for video creators.

But if you shoot stills mainly (like me), I guess the XF18-135 or XF16-80 are still the better pick for you.

Fujifilm Unveils Details About Next APS-C Sensor Generation: BSI, X-Trans and Stacked!

Ok guys, the Fujifilm X summit just ended.

A lot has been shared, from X mount roadmap to GF lens roadmap, new product annoucnements and more. So check out our X summit live coverage.

What almost passed unnoticed, is the very last minute of the video, where Fujifilm announced the next generation sensor for the Fujifilm X system.

According to Fujifilm managers, it will be a stacked backside illuminated X-Trans sensor.

Now, thanks to FujiRumors leaks, we already knew it would be an X-Trans sensor, and we also knew that Sony has indeed a 43 Megapixel stacked BSI sensor available.

And to be clear, during the entire event, the Fujifilm X-H2 has not been mentioned a single time.

However, what we also know thanks to our sources, is that there will be two Fujifilm X-H2 cameras. Will both use this very same sensor? Will both be X-Trans? Or will the difference be on the ergnomic front (selfie vs 3-way tilt screen, PSAM vs retro dials)?

Questions… questions that FujiRumors will answer for you, don’t worry about that. Just follow us.

SURPRISE: Fujifilm X Summit Starting at 9AM EST with Never Rumored Surprises

Do you like surprises? If so, then stay glued on FujiRumors today.

A few hours after I’ve published this article, where I ask the FR-reader community if there is something they’d liked to be surprised with at the X summit at 9AM New York time, trusted sources contacted me and wanted me (and you) to know that at the Fujifilm X summit there will be “so far not rumored surprises“.

I did ask if it’s maybe a development announcement of the Fujifilm X-H2 (or of both Fujifilm X-H2’s I better say), or epic Kaizen firmware announcements and so forth, but no further hints have been given to me, so it will be a surprise for all of us, me included.

One more excellent reason to stay tuned on FujiRumors, where at 9AM New York time we will live stream the Fujifilm X summit and at 10AM New York time we will start the announcement live blog.

My Thoughts on the September 2 Announcements and What Would You Like Fujifilm to Surprise You With Tomorrow?

So, very soon, on September 2 at 9AM New York time, Fujifilm will have a major announcement day.

The gear that will surely come is this one:

But as you know, X summit can always contain surprises that have never been rumored before.

So the question is, what would you like to get surprised with on September 2?

And just briefly, my quick thoughts on the gear to be announced tomorrow.

  • Fujifilm GFX50SII

Great move. Using the same design of GFX100S saves tons of R&D. Making GFX more affordable is of crucial importance. If there is the AF boost Fujifilm promises, then this will be a big hit. But as I wrote on my GFX100S hands on, retro vintage dials are just more fun for me to use, so I hope Fujifilm will also continue to give us different options in terms of form factor.

  • GF35-70mmF4.5-5.6

All good on specs (and really lovely from the leaked images). As I wrote already, it fixes the true anomaly in the G mount lens system. However, also here, I love aperture rings. This one has none. So I’ll stick with my GF32-64mmF4.

  • Fujifilm X-T30II

After the X-T30II specs leaked, some said that the X-T30II is slightly bigger than the original X-T30. But no, it is not. It’s exactly the same body size. The X-T30II is more or less just a firmware update as the Fujifilm X-E2S was for the Fujfiilm X-E2. The best news around this camera, is that we now can hope for major X-T30 firmware update, as also the X-E2 got the same firmware feature of the X-E2s at some point.

  • Fujinon XF23mmF1.4 R LM WR and XF33mmF1.4 R LM WR

Faster autofocus (linear motor), better build (weather sealing), capable to resolve more megapixel (for future higher megapixel cameras). This was not only a good move by Fujifilm, but a necessary one. You can read the full specs for both lenses here. Especially considering how popular these two focal lengths are, Fujifilm had to release some absolute stunners. And that’s what they are!

  • Meh or Wow?

Maybe we don’t get an exciting new camera with brand new sensor. Maybe we don’t get a totally surprising new lens (oh, where are you XF150-600), but the Fujifilm X Summit of tomorrow, September 2 at 9AM New York time is a very well thought out step forward by Fujifilm. Everything (except for the X-T30II) makes sense and will contribute to the growth of the X and GFX system.

And as I said above, I can’t remember a Fujifilm X summit that has not surprised us, either with some prototypes to show, development announcements and what not.

So, again, drop down below what you’d like to be surprised with tomorrow.
