The GOOD News:

The Fujifilm X-T3 wins the award for the best camera of 2018, beating the full frame Sony A7III and Nikon Z6.

The Fujifilm X-T3 has already been declared best camera of 2018 by many big youtubers and blogs. Check out our recent best of 2018 overview here.

The BAD News:

The Fujifilm X-T100 has been declared worst video camera of 2018, with a useless 4K. The Fujifilm XF10 is the thrid worst camera of 2018. Bad and unreliable focussing. Slow, laggy.

Dear Fujifilm, this is what happens if you put an old and slow processor in cameras that otherwise would have a very nice sensor.

The MISSING News:

Strangly, not a single Fujinon lens makes it into the list.

I believe the Fujinon XF200mmF2 would have deserved a top spot, and not to forget the Fujinon XF8-16mmF2.8 or the Fujinon GF250mmF4.

And maybe also the medium format Fujifilm GFX50R should have gotten at least an honorable mention.

Fujinon XF 33mm F1.0 vs XF 35mm F1.4 vs XF 35mm F2 – SIZE COMPARISON

Fujinon XF33mmF1.0 vs XF35mmF1.4 vs XF35mmF2

As you know, I have been to photokina 2018, and I also have delivered you the worldwide first real life images of the XF33mmF1.0, XF16mmF2.8 and XF16-80mmF4 lenses, as well as a side by side comparison of the 3 new lenses on Fuji’s roadmap.

However, I keep up getting questions about how big the XF 33mm F1.0 is, compared to its little brothers, the XF 35mm F1.4 and XF 35mm F2 WR.

So based on the images I took and what I have seen with my own eyes at the Photokina Fujifilm booth, I try to give you a visual representation of how Fuji’s 50mm equivalent trinity compares side by side mounted on a Fujifilm X-T3.

Of course this can’t be super-accurate, and I’d say it’s 85+% close to perfection. However, the Fujinon XF 33mm F1.0 will hit the market in 2020, and until there, the final size can change.

Which Older Fujinon X Mount Lenses Should Fujifilm Update Next? POLL

About 2 years ago, I asked you guys which APS-C lenses Fujifilm should make next.

Your response was overwhelming, and you recommended thousands of lenses. I meticulously collected all your suggestions, and made a 30 lenses poll out of them.

The rest is history: as you can see from the results here, you guys vote the XF33mmF1.0 followed by the XF16-80mmF4 as your most wanted lenses, which are exactly the lenses Fujifilm recently added to their X mount roadmap.

Today I’d launch another poll.

This time it’s not about completely new lenses, but about which “older” Fujinon lenses Fujifilm should update.

What does “update” mean?

Mainly it means:

I debated if I should include the XF16-55mmF2.8 and XF90mmF2, which I know many would like to have OIS. But I decided not to include them, since the workaround is to use Fujifilm X-H1 and future Fujifilm X-H2 with IBIS. And who knows if down the road there will be more IBIS camera bodies. Fujifilm Wins “Good Design Award 2018” with 29 Products in Recognition of their Design and Performance

Fujifilm won 29 awards at the Good Design Awards 2018.

Now, I don’t know how the Good Design Award works, but if it’s like EISA and TIPA, then don’t take it too seriously. We have documented here, how EISA and TIPA work. Check the article out, if you want to know get clarity about the (not so transparent) award business.

With that said, Good Design gave an award to 29 Fuji products. Here are the cameras and lenses:

Is the Fujinon XF 33mmF1.0 too Big? POLL

At photokina 2018 we have finally seen the first mock-ups of the Fujinon XF 33mm F1.0 lens.

The very first detailed image with size comparison was shared by fujirumors here.

After having seen it, the discussions went hot whether this lens is too big or not.

My guess is that Fujifilm knew that a XF33mmF1.0 with autofocus would not be really a portable travel lens anyway, so they decided to go all-in in terms of image quality and AF speed, and make it as big as necessary to become a stellar lens that professional photographers will love to use.

But today I’d be curious to know from those of us, who were interested to buy the Fujinon XF33mmF1.0, if the current size of the Fujinon XF33mmF1.0 is a dealbreaker.

The Fujinon XF33mmF1.0 is still under development and will hit the market in 2020. So keep in mind that some things are likely to change until the final release.
