According a new source, along with the Fujifilm GFX100 announcement on May 23, Fujifilm will also unveil a new Fujinon G mount lens roadmap.
No reliable indication so far that also the Fujiflm X mount roadmap will be updated.
I remind you that back in February, at the wonderful Fujifilm X Summit in Dubai, Fujifilm asked users which Fujinon X and G lenses they should make next, giving us several options to vote for.
The Fujifilm GFX100 is coming on May 23 (live blogging on FujiRumors), and I have decided to collect all we know about it in this article.
It’s a mix of rumors and official statements made by Fujifilm managers.
For your convenience, I will link to the source (rumors or manager statement), so that you guys know if you should take something with a grain of salt or not.
Most of it comes from an amazing source, who shared with FujiRumors the official Fujifilm GFX 100 media slides:
Tony Northrup took a Fujifilm GFX 50R for his Barcelona trip and now published a review about it (video above).
I will sum it up for you below, but I would quickly like to correct a few errors he made.
He says the GFX sensor surface area is 30% bigger than Full Frame, but it is actually 70% bigger. This is not correct, and Tony makes the MF sensor sound smaller than it really is.
Looking at the Fujifilm X series camera release timeline we shared last year, and comparing it with the current rumors, we can say that it turns out to be pretty accurate… except for one camera: the Fujifilm X100F successor (may it be called X100V or X200 or whatever)
The X100 line had a refresh cycle of about 2 years, and given that the X100F was launched in January 2017, everybody speculates it will come very soon, at least within 2019.
But trusted sources now informed us, that the Fujifilm X100V (or X200) will be launched in 2020 only!
This time Fujifilm decided to wait longer than ever to give us a successor.
And by the way, if you want to know which is the Fujifilm facebook group with less gear talk, less gear shots, less gear discussions and mostly focussed on the art of photography and images, than this is definitely our Fujifilm X100 facebook group.
I think this is representative for the people, who buy this camera: never think about gear again. Get the camera, one lens only, and go out and shoot. It’s all about being focused on taking pictures.
The Fujifilm Spring Deals are running in May. You can see all deals here.
In addition to the deals, Fujifilm USA and Skylum teamed up to offer you the chance to win a 4 day trip to Iceland (for US residents only). If you win the trip, you’ll get an X-T3 and XF18-55 on top of it. Check out all details here.
New Fujinon XF and G lens deals are now running in USA.
The new deals are not as strong as the ones that expired back in March, but this time Fujifilm included lenses and cameras, that were not discounted last time
