MARK THIS DATE: Fujifilm X Summit NYC 2022 on September 8 at 2PM New York Time

Fujifilm X Summit

The Fujifilm X Summit has just been announced for September 8 at 6PM GMT time. It will take place in New York City.

So definitely mark this date in your calendar:

  • September 8th at 2PM New York Time
  • September 8th at 8PM Berlin Time

The only thing Fujifilm has announced for September is the high resolution Fujifilm X-H2, which we have already shared the price and some specs of.

What else has Fujifilm on their official roadmap for 2022? Let’s look at it:

NOTE: THIS DOES NOT MEAN that it will all drop on September 8. It could well be that Fujifilm will make it an X series exclusive event. Or that they’ll only focus on the Fujifilm X-H2.

Whatever it is, FujiRumors will let you know soon enough.

Rumor Storm Incoming

And you know what?

A terrific rumor storm is about to unleash ahead of September 8, so don’t miss out to read FujiRumors in the next days and weeks ;).

Fujifilm Financial Results for Q1 FY2022: China Lockdowns Hit Digital Camera Sales, but Instax Keeps Rockin’!

Fujifilm shared its first quarter financial results for the fiscal year 2022 (results for April to June 2022).

Revenue and operating income increased by 13.6% and 31.8%, respectively, year-over-year. Although digital cameras were hit by the impact of the lockdown in China, sales of instant photo systems and color photographic paper remained firm.

Instax is king as usual. So let’s skip straight to the part that interests us most: professional imaging.

  • Revenue increased vear-over-vear as the sales recoverv of broadcast camera lenses from the COVID-19 impact offset the negative impact of the lockdown in China mainly on digital cameras.
  • In July 2022, we launched the FUJIFILM X-H2S mirrorless digital camera that boasts the fastest continuous-shooting, Auto Focus and video performance in the history of the X Series, which delivers premium image quality despite being compact and lightweight.

Pretty much they don’t say anything about the Fujifilm X and GFX series, except for saying they launched the X-H2S and a final note that says:

We will continue to offer attractive products by realizing the best balance between image quality and size through the X Series and the highest image quality through the GFX Series.

It’s Time for US Readers to Get (a bit) Grumpy: Sweet Deals on Fujinon Lenses in Europe (but Today Only)

The awesome deal on the Fujifilm X-H2S, reserved for US residents only, made pretty much the rest of the world grumpy (even Canadians, as we reported here).

So time to flip the coin around thought Foto Erhardt in Germany… at least a little bit.

In fact, today only, Foto Erhardt* offers deals on selected Fujinon lenses.

A special mention are certainly worth the €200 rebate on the legendary XF50-140mmF2.8 and the €100 rebate on the stellar XF18mmF1.4.

* Foto Erhardt ships to all EU and is a very trusted store.

When Images Come to Life: Using GIF-Animations Created with Fujifilm Cameras for Wedding Photography

Note: this guest post was submitted to me shortly before the Fujifilm X-H2S announcement. You can contact me at fujirumor@gmail.com if you want to share your own guest post on FujiRumors

Guest Post by Kevin

Hi Patrick,

You have always provided us with all the important news in the last weeks, and probably most Fujifilm users are looking forward to the new camera models. I’m looking forward to the Fujifilm X-H2s with great anticipation myself… At the same time, the current cameras also offer some possibilities that may not be known to everyone.

My name is Kevin Kurek, and I am a wedding photographer from Germany. Some time ago, I started looking for new ways to capture the emotions of a wedding day even better. When I started playing with GIFs, I quickly realized that this is an incredibly great opportunity. Today, I actually get booked for most weddings because of my GIF films.

Today, I would love to show Fujirumor readers the hidden possibilities their cameras can offer them with GIFs.

How can GIFs be used in photography?

New Fujifilm Patents: Fujinon GF 20-30mmF4, GF 24-50mmF3.5-5.6 and 50-380mmF3.3, 35-280mmF3.3 (Cine Lenses?)

I was debating with myself if I should stop to report about patents at all.

Why?

Because in 10 years of blogging I have shared hundreds of patents on FR, and none has ever seen the light of the day. What I have seen once or twice, is a patent surface only after the real lens had been already announced (making the patent “leak” useless)

The problem?

I notice that when I report about patents, people think this means the patented item will surely come, it’s just a matter of time.

And that’s a problem, because:

So I don’t want to create false hopes by sharing patents, as those are concepts written on paper, and they remain such in 99% of the cases.

On the other hand, this is a rumor site. Those patents exist, even if the products in those patents will never see the light of the day.

So I decided that I will report about patents, but I will put my disclaimers hoping people will read more than just the mere headline.

And today we talk about a couple of GF and probably Cine lens patents surfaced on the web and brought to us thanks to the Japanese website Asobinet here and here.

So let’s look at them one by one below.

POLL: Which Fujifilm System Do You Own?

In my multimillion dollar deal with Fujifilm Japan*, FujiRumors has, per contract, to at least once a year conduct a marketing research to see which systems the FujiRumors fellowship owns.

You can see the results of last year here in case you are curious to know how things have evolved over the last year.

  • IMPORTANT NOTE: Any X or GFX gear you have on pre-order qualifies you as an “owner”. So for example if your first Fujifilm camera ever is the Fujifilm X-H2S but you are still waiting to get it shipped, you qualify as an X series owner.

* I’ve never received nor will ever receive a single penny from Fujifilm (nor free or discounted gear), so rest assured that FujiRumors is and will remain a space 100% independent from Fujifilm

I currently own the following systems.... (NOTE: pre-ordered gear qualifies you as "Owner")

RUMOR: Fujifilm X-T5 will Not Have Battery Grip Option – New Source

When Fujifilm launched the Fujifilm X-H2S, it also launched not one, but two battery grip options for it: the regular Fujifilm VG-XH and the file transmitting Fujifilm FT-XH.

So will this be the case also for the Fujifilm X-T5? Will it also get both options?

Well, apparently not.

A new source reached out to us and told us that there won’t be any battery grip for the Fujifilm X-T5.

This would mean that if you love to shoot with a battery grip, your only options will be the Fujifilm X-H2S and the upcoming Fujifilm X-H2. Or you can go with older models like the Fujifilm X-T4 with the VG-XT4 grip.
