Fujifilm Goes Wildlife

Back in October, we reported how an image of Peter Delaney won the Wildlife Photographer award in the portraits category.

But there is more.

Also Marco Urso snapped one of the wildlife photographer awards winning images 2017. The picture “Funny Brothers” shows two young bears standing and watching out for some fresh Salmon.

Congratulations, Marco!

Marco’s image is also available for public “People’s Choice Award” voting until February 5th here. So feel free to support his image.

Interesting to note, both images, the ape of Peter Delaney and the bears of Marco Urso, have been taken with the XF50-140, which, according to our huge polls, is your top 2 favorite Fujinon lens for wildlife photography.

Fujifilm X-H1 Faster Autofocus Than Fujifilm X-T2

Hey guys…

First off: I have been told this by a new source a few weeks ago, and I say huge thanks to this source.

However, it’s my habit to try to double/triple check rumors from new/anonmyous sources, in order to keep the rumor hit rate over 90% (where it currently is).

So far I still can’t confirm this specific rumor, but after the recent rumor, that the X-H1 will have a basically black-out free EVF (despite sharing the same sensor and processor of the X-T2), I was debating if sharing or not… and now I decided to share, for the reason I’ll mention below.

  • Fujifilm is very likely doing some major coding work on the software, in order to take the most out of the camera’s potential.
  • The bigger body could also allow far better heat dissipation, and as a consequence Fujifilm can really squeeze the last drop of power out of the X Processor Pro, without having to worry about overheating issues.

Almost black out free EVF… even better Autofocus than the X-T2… the Fujifilm X-H1 is not only be Fuji’s best video camera (IBIS, internal F-log and 4K), but probably also an ideal camera for sports photography… especially in combination with the XF200mF2 (mock up here), which will also be released in 2018.

I can’t wait to finally see the real thing on February 14 :)

Meikon Fujifilm X-T2 Waterhousing Review

GUEST POST FEATURE

Guest Post by TheOverratedPhotographer

Introduction

I’ve been wanting a decent water housing for a while. It’s a symptom of GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome), once you have everything you want, you find more things to want. In my case, one of the areas I play in is kitesurfing, and whilst to 100-400 is great to take photos from a distance, the option of a waterproof housing gives you a complete different perspective. As opposed to a horizontal view, you get a vertical view looking up or photos from the water looking back at the beach. My housing requirements aren’t the heavy duty scuba diving ones, mine will be mainly surface based.

Unfortunately the wind hasn’t been playing along lately so I haven’t been able to take many action photos to date, but I will update this as I go along.

Fujifilm X-T20 Will Get Extensive Firmware Update Early 2018 – Fujifilm Germany

There Will Be Kaizen… for X-T20

*** NEW FIRMWARE TODAY ***
for X-T1, X100F and X-T20.
All details here

Fujifilm just ended 2017 with a bunch of firmware updates, some definitely worth to be called Kaizen, like the one for the X-T2 last month and the upcoming X-Pro2 firmware.

However, X-T20 owners were not so lucky, and basically could enjoy just the new EVF/Touch screen feature. Hence, all X-T20 were disappointed not to get the faster AF-tracking, the highlight blinkies, the RGB histogram and more.

But there is hope :)

Fujifilm Germany said in the comments (back on December 1) to one of their facebook posts (google translated):

The x-T20 will get this feature [X RAW Studio support] with an extensive firmware update. The update is expected to be available early / spring 2018. Unfortunately, implementation is not possible for all models at the same time.”

If Fujifilm Germany has correct information, then it is just a matter of time, and also Fujifilm X-T20 owners will get their Kaizen Love. And considering how successful the X-T20 line is, the “extensive X-T20 firmware update” in early 2018 will make many photographers happy.

Thanks to the FR-reader, who just dropped me this link. As you can see, it seems a news only exists once it is on FujiRumors. So even though the comment is old, there were no reports about it on the web.

However, what I don’t see, you see it. Thanks a TON for your support. It means everything to me. Feel free to keep up sharing :)

Fujifilm Netherlands recently said here that the Fujifilm X-T20 firmware update has been postponed. But I guess Fujifilm was able to fix all issues and is ready to release it on time. You see, even Fujifilm itself can share wrong rumors now and then ;) .

FujiRumors Recommends

  1. Update your camera in any case, even if you do not need the features/improvements that come with this specific firmware update. Fujifilm often implements “undocumented fixes“, which can be as small as a typo in the menu, but also more significant bug fixes and improvements.
  2. To be 100% safe, though, do not update your camera on the same day you need your camera for a paid assignment. In very rare cases, firmware updates can introduce new bugs. If you need your camera on a paid job, wait a few days, check back fujirumors.com to see if there are some bugs with the new firmware in the following days, and if there are no reports, update your camera. But with that said, in 99% of the cases a new firmware will only improve things, and not make them worst. So at the end, always update.

Recently I reached out to another website and asked them if they could kindly quote FujiRumors, when they report about rumors they read on FujiRumors and share on their website.

The website said they won’t quote FujiRumors, because linking to other sites is not good for google SEO search engine results.

Well guys, this is not my philisophy. To me, the community and the best possible service to you comes first of all. This is why I will keep up making miXed zones, which not only cost me a TON of time, but also influence negatively my Google search results.

But I frankly don’t care. I keep up running FujiRumors with the same spirit of the very first day, when I had almost no readers. It’s about people, like me, who have fun with Fuji cameras, and it’s about sharing your work and Fuji love here on FujiRumors, giving you the visibility you deserve.

So don’t worry… may my google search results go to the cellar, I don’t care. Everything I care of is the community… so keep up sharing with me… you will be featured on FujiRumors :)

So here is another miXed zone :)
