Fujifilm Releases Firmware Updates for Fujifilm GFX100 (Pixel Shift), GFX50S and GFX50R

Fujifilm has release firmware updates for Fujifilm GFX cameras, which include the long promised pixel shift firmware for GFX100.

The firmware update Ver.3.00 from Ver.2.01 incorporates the following issues:

  1. Pixel Shift Multi-Shot function is added.
In the Pixel Shift Multi-Shot mode, the camera takes a series of 16 RAW images and by using in-body image stabilization(IBIS), moves the image sensor to get a high-resolution and real color* image. The multiple images are then combined to create a Digital Negative (DNG) RAW file using the FUJIFILM Pixel Shift Combiner software.
    * real color : As a pixel of an image sensor has one color filter from red, green or blue, we cannot detect the real color for the pixel. We need to interpolate the other colors from the surrounding pixel data for that pixel. This is called the demosaicing process. In case of Pixel Shift Multi-Shot photography, we can receive red, green and blue data for every pixel position. This means we receive real color information when using Pixel Shift Multi-Shot mode and the demosaicing process is not necessary.
  2. Ratings to images recorded in the [Jpeg + RAW] mode are applied to both Jpeg and RAW files.
  3. The phenomenon is fixed that in a multiple-flash shooting where the EF-X500 is used as a commander, flashes in some groups sometimes don’t fire correctly. Also in case the EF-X500 is used as a commander and the EF-60 as a remote flash, upgrade the camera firmware to the latest version.
  4. Accuracy of the Eye AF function for the front eye is improved
  5. Fix of minor bugs.

Fujifilm X-H2, X80, GFX100V, X-Pan, Monochrome and More – FR-Readers Wishlist Corner

Here is another roundup of wishlist shared by the FR-community to me via email at fujirumor@gmail.com.

Previous Wishlist Episodes:

As opposed to the last episode, this time we focus on camera wishes instead of lens wishes.

In this roundup, one particular and recurrent wish finds me totally agreeing with: the need for a Fujifilm X80!

I do hope Fujifilm will understand that the Fujifilm XF10 was not the X70 successor we were waiting for and that they will finally give us an X80.

I mean, Fujifilm should have been able to overcome these X80 issues by now!!!

RUMOR: Next Fujifilm GFX with 102 Megapixel (not Monochrome) and Much Smaller than Fujifilm GFX100

A few days ago we told you that the next Fujifilm GFX will be launched in early 2021.

Rarely I have received so many emails after a rumor, like it was with this one, which is a great sign, as it means the interest among the FR-community is huge for a GFX successor.

I also received a bunch of emails of FR-readers, telling me that this would be a monochrome GFX, which is absolutely not correct, hence here is an update to the rumor, that will set things right.

The next Fujifilm GFX will have the same sensor of the current Fujifilm GFX100, hence a 102 megapixel backside illuminated Bayer sensor with full phase detection coverage. Which still today is basically the state of the art when it comes to sensor technology.

Also, it will be much smaller than the current Fujifilm GFX100.

If you are a GFX lover, make sure to stay tuned on FujiRumors, and also to join our facebook group below. You’ll be the first to know more about the new GFX camera.

Fujifilm GFX100 ProRes RAW does Not Support White Balance Adjustment

Jordan from DPReview goes over the latest Final Cut Pro update, which improves ProRes RAW support, including important new features such as the ability to change your white balance and ISO after the fact!

Now in Final Cut Pro you have a drop down menu to set your ISO, you have a slider for your white balance and a slider for exposure compensation.

Currently this is only supported in Final Cut Pro, but other video editing software should follow.

But there is a problem!

Jordan points out in the video, that not all cameras get those two much needed features (ISO and white balance adjustment).

At the moment there seems to be full support only for Z Cam cameras and Panasonic cameras.

The Fujifilm GFX100 supports the ISO adjustment, but not the white balance adjustment, which is so important when shooting RAW video.

Other cameras are even worse. The Nikon Z series does not support either ISO nor white balance adjustment.

Jordan concludes:

I hope that, whoever is responsible, Atomos, Apple or the camera manufacturers, they can get to work and make all of these cameras fully compatible with these features

Dear Fujifilm, set up a zoom meeting with Apple and Atomos, and get this fixed soon, please!
