Instax Square WW1

UPDATE: from digicame-info

Instax SQUARE SQ 10 (hybrid instant camera)
– Pictures can be selected and printed after shooting.
– About 50 sheets can be saved in the built-in memory. It can also be stored in micro SD.
– Expected release date: May 19, 2017
– Mass store sales price: around 31,860 yen (including tax)

Ok, I knew it… not much time to take care of my hang-over after my birthday party yesterday. Anyway, lots of coffee, and I’ll be fit in time for the live blogging on April 19 :)

In the meantime, nokishita just confirmed the announcement of GF110 and GF23 on April 19, as well as Instax Aquare SQ10.

They also mention the INSTAX SQUARE WW 1 (Square film).

The Print

Just a little leak for you guys to give you a better idea of the size of the upcoming Instax Square SQ10 prints.

Interesting to note, the original image (which I had to cover to keep the source of the leak anonymous) was printed in black and white. This can mean that there will be also a monochrome Instax Square film (like the monochrome Instax Mini film). But consider that the Instax SQ10 will be a hybrid digital/film camera, so it might be possible to transfer images taken with the camera to the Instax Square SQ10 printer, and print it from there, just like we do with a regular Instax Share Printer.

The big announcement party for the new GF 110mm F2, GF 23mm F2 and Instax Square will start soon (April 19).

I’m ready… feel free to join the Live Blogging here on FujiRumors :)

Kaizen? Sorry Fuji, We Can’t Get Enough :) ! New 30+ Wish List of Future Improvements!

 photo KAIZEN_zps1fdb780f.png

Dear Fujifilm, we love the Kaizen love you give to our cameras. But you know… we can never get enough :)

So here are some more firmware ideas for the future, shared by FR-reader Fujica (high time to share it :))

And you know it… Fujifilm Top Managers Read you!

  1. Interlock AF Type setting to AF Focus setting
For example if you switch to single shot Focus (S) on the camera to then switch to Single Point focus automatically. If the camera is set to Continuous Focus to then automatically switch to Zone AF. – Of course the user should be able to set his own AF Type preference for each of the Focus settings (S / C).
  2. Live histogram when shutterbutton is being half pressed
  3. Set maximum number of images in CL / CH
  4. Cooked RAWs of Film Simulations
  5. Cooked RAWs for double exposure
  6. Cooked RAWs for panoramic shots
  7. Cooked RAWs for Dynamic Range Settings (DR200 / DR400 / AUTO)
  8. Reala Film Simulation
  9. Color Chrome Effect
  10. E-Front Curtain Shutter
  11. Date & Time to seconds
  12. More Customisable Q-Menu – More options to choose from (especially RAW options)
  13. AI Focus Intelligent version of One Shot Focus (S) and Continuous Focus (C) (Choose automatically depending upon the fact if the subject is moving or not).
  14. Move Pixel Mapping option under the Wrench (This is not an image IQ option but a maintenance tool)
  15. Quickly Select AF-Custom setting via rear command dial
  16. New Leveler with Tilt & Pitch (as found in the GFX)
  17. Star Rating to be compatible with Lightroom
  18. Eye Sensor while shooting + LCD Menu
  19. Auto ISO WARNING when below recommended shutter speed (Highly needed)
  20. RGB Histogram
  21. Anti Flicker AF option
  22. Noise reduction to ‘Off’
  23. Point-AF Follow Focus within Phase Detect area for moving subjects in AF-C. (sort of widea-area tracking, but different and better).
  24. Focus Tracking with Lock-on: Nikon has added additional options here for erratic or steady subjects allowing me to fine tune my autofocus for every given situation.
  25. Point-AF extension 1 (normal) – 5 (cross)  – 9 points (extended).
  26. CH mode: 6 + 7 fps
  27. Create Tone Curve (As Nikon Picture Control Editor)
  28. Improved ‘Add Noise’ as is calculated with the ACROS film simulation but then available to other Film Simulations. (So with no noise in the highlights and deepest shadows)
  29. 4k Video Image Capture: I can now take 8mp stills while shooting 4k video or extract them frame by frame after the fact.
  30. Slow Motion video Recording / playback
  31. F-Log to SD card

X-Pro2 Specific

  1. ISO set via rear command dial when ISO is set to L
  2. 4K video

What else?

Well, I (Patrick) would really like to have a highlight priority metering mode.

And you?

Fuji XF 55-200 Revisited, the 18-135, and Other Musings!

As you would have read on my last two blogs, I had recently sold off all of my Nikon gear over the last year or so and replaced everything with Fuji equipment. I have extensively used my 18-135 lens and the marvellous little 35mm f2. The 18-55 I never liked (not sharp or very useful wide open at the 18 or 55 end), so that was sold recently on ebay. However, the 55-200 kind of sat there in no-man’s land and never really got used. I did a commercial shoot last year where I had to shoot over 25 models for our local TAFE (Technical and Further Education). The girls were graduating from their Makeup and Beauty Course, and I was asked to photograph the models for their portfolios. Of course the 55-200 was the perfect choice for that occasion. The photos looked great and everybody was very pleased with the results.

One of the models from the shoot with the 55-200 lens.

After that – I kind of popped the lens back into the camera cupboard and forgot about it. I had thought long and hard about the lenses I would take on the month trip to Myanmar at Christmas, but because the 55-200 lens was not sealed, it did not even get on the short list. I ended up specifically purchasing the 18-135 because of the weather sealing. I had been to Myanmar on two prior occasions and I remembered how unbelievably dusty and dirty it can be over there (especially Mandalay and Hsipaw).

Fujifilm X-T2 Image Printed on Huge Billboard for Nike :: Fujinon XF 50mmF2 WR Vs. XF 56mmF1.2

Anyone who Questions X-T2 APS-C images…

… can’t do big prints?

In these days, where we are all stunned by the resolution of the Fujifilm GFX, Sean Marc Lee shows that the 24MP APS-C can already print big. In fact, he shoot an image for Nike with his X-T2 and it was printed on a huge billboard. He used the X-T2 w/ 35mm f2.2 1/125.

So yes, also APS-C Fuji’s can get the job done :) You can see the image at Marc’s instagram here. Also from the same campaign, check out in Chinese hypebeast.

Fujinon XF 50mm F2 WR Vs. XF 56mm F1.2

Jordan just shared his XF50mmF2 Vs. XF56mmF1.2 comparison at admiringlight here:

both are very good lenses. The 56mm f/1.2 is sharper at similar apertures over most of the frame, though the 50mm f/2 is a touch sharper at the edges at f/2. Bokeh is a fairly close race, and as both are quite sharp, and both have nice renderings, I’d consider the other factors when choosing between the two.”
