Fujifilm Financial Results for FY2019/3 1st Quarter
Fujifilm just published the 1st quarter results for the Financial Year 2019. Fujifilm confirms to be a healthy company, but the overall operating income in the imaging solutions segment went down 2.2%…
“due to such factors as upfront R&D investment for next generation processor and sensor for digital cameras and others.”
Fujifilm just registered one more camera, the FF 180004, that has the same radio parts of the Fujifilm X-H1 and X-E3 (registration here – via nokishita)
So we now have three unreleased cameras registered, that should be announced by the end of this summer:
FF 180002: Camera similar in size to Fujifilm X70. Very likely the Fujifilm XF10. To be announced July 5.
FF 180003: Camera with bluetooth version 4.2. We reported here.
FF 180004: Camera with radio parts like Fujifilm X-H1 and X-E3.
The two registered cameras could be Fujifilm GFX 50R and Fujifilm X-T3.
Yes I know, it might seem strange to write a pro-Kaizen article right after Fujifilm pulled off the massive X-T2 firmware because it was faulty. Fujifilm did earn quite some attacks becasue of this, and some are making fun out of this situation.
So maybe Fujifilm should do it like any other brand: do not offer any major firmware update at all, only mini bug-fix updates, so they will avoid attacks.
Or maybe not… maybe Fujifilm should continue to deliver huge firmware updates for older cameras like they did over the last 6+ years. And in all these years I remember I think 2 or 3 rollback firmware updates overall.
Well, I gladly accept the remote possibility of a buggy firmware, if what I get is years of excellent support for my cameras via firmware update.
And I know that overall, Fuji’s Kaizen approach is applauded by many, and today we would like to feature a video JCristina. He says about Kaizen:
Kaizen Firmware updates makes them stand out from Sony, Canon and Nikon. They don’t just fix things, but they give you more that extend the life of their cameras
Most camera manufacturers want their cameras to be like toilet paper. They want you to use it for a set period of time, throw them in the garbage and they buy another roll
JCristina continues by discussing Fuji’s decision to skip full frame and go directly medium format. Especially the Fujifilm GFX 50R will be a smart move to make Medium Format go mainstream.
They don’t play the full frame war. They have one of the best APS-C cameras on the market, and they went directly Medium Format
The Fujifilm GFX 50R will soon give you a medium format mirrorless option at the price of the Sony A9
Watch Fujifilm, and what happens after photokina, if they rise up to the top with that medium format GFX 50R
The Fujifilm GFX 50R will be announced at photokina at the end September (or shortly before).
The price for the Fujifilm GFX 50R has not yet been set, simply because this is about the last thing Fujifilm decides. Only one thing is sure: it will be significantly more affordable than the Fujifilm GFX 50S.
The French website LesNumerique was present at the event and reported that they had been told that the Fujifilm GFX50R successor is currently “under development”.
Add to that that “rumors” about the imminent arrival of the Fujifilm GFX100R are popping up ahead of every X summit of the last 2 years, and it’s understandable why many have high hopes for a GFX50R replacement to come soon.
But what have our sources to say about it?
Well, here it is:
Whoever told LesNumerique that the GFX50R successor is under development was 100% wrong. And whoever shared any GFX50R successor rumor ever was willingly misleading you with fake clickbait rumors.
Phew, luckily FujiRumors never shared a single GFX50R replacement rumor ;).
The truth is this: according to our trusted sources (multiple trusted sources), Fujifilm is currently investing the staggering amount of zero dollars/euro/yen/whatever into the development of the Fujifilm GFX50R successor.
With all the talk about the Fujifilm X100VI in these days, we can now report also something interesting for those of you, who are not into the X100 line (thanks to Mistral!).
In a session with journalists, Fujifilm shared 10 lenses that were “under study” and also talked about future X/GFX cameras, as reported by the French website lesnumeriques here, who also is to credit for the images.
10 Lenses “Under Study”
(Images at the Top of the Article)
Fujifilm did display 10 lenses currently “under study” by Fujifilm. But please guys, don’t take this as any sort of “roadmap”, for the reasons I’ll explain below.
Super-Telephoto Prime lens XF 400mm or longer
– 11-110mm diameter
– weight 1,300-1,400g
XF120mmF2 (in between XF90mmF2 and XF200mmF2) – Size 140-160mm
– 90-110mm diameter
– 900-1,000g
Super Wide-angle Fast Lens for Astro Photography
– Size 80-100mm
– 70-80mm diameter
– weight 400-600g
It’s not the first time that Fujiflm gave us a list of “lenses under study“. It happened also back in 2019, when they even wanted us to vote on those lenses (as they wanted the journalists to vote on the lenses we display today). And if we look at the list, except for some MKII lenses, not much on that list ever materialized in a real product.
So don’t take it as a solid indication on anything.
As CP+ unfolded today, reports from the Japanese website dc.watch have unveiled an astonishing scene – a 30-minute queue forming just for enthusiasts to get their hands on the Fujifilm X100VI.
It’s downright unbelievable, especially considering this frenzy occurred on a regular workday (Thursday). One can only imagine the pandemonium expected over the weekend.
Having attended several photography fairs myself, including twice at the largest photography fair in the world, Photokina (2016 report here – 2018 report here), where manufacturers typically unveiled their top-tier offerings, I’ve toured booths from Canon, Nikon, Leica, Fujifilm, Sony, Hasselblad, and more. Never, in all my experiences, have I witnessed a 30-minute queue just to touch & try out a new camera.
The buzz surrounding the X100VI is nothing short of extraordinary. The anticipation and demand for this camera seem to have surpassed anything seen before.
Yes, we are going to talk about the three cameras. But first you need to know this.
There is one release in just a couple weeks that will overshadow everything else Fujifilm will launch.
Well, at least for me.
Because my second son will be “released” in the next couple of weeks, too :)
But don’t worry guys.
There shouldn’t be any schedule conflict with the X Summit on February 20 (unlike with my first sons’ birth, when Fujifilm made its mega announcement literally just hours after he was born and I had to live blog right after I came home sleepless after his birth).
So I am ready to cover it all non-stop here on FujiRumors.
Fujifilm colors are loved by many. And it looks like they can be useful also when you try to apply a certain look to your AI created images. Andrea, from SonyAlphaRumors, used Film Simulation names for his AI images and you can see the results in the video above (and also here).
