Wasabi Currently Working on NP-W235 Battery for Fujifilm X-T4

A FR reader contacted Wasabi/Blue Nook, asking if they plan to release NP-W235 batteries for the Fujifilm X-T4.

This is what Wasabi replied to him:

The factory is currently working on that battery. Unfortunately, we do not have an ETA on when it will be available.

Wasabi is arguably one of the most appreciated third party Fujifilm batteries and chargers manufacturer. I think (but I am not sure), they are sold as Patona in Europe, which is also my third party battery brand of choice.

You know: the Fujifilm X-T4 comes with a brand new NP-W235 battery. They aren’t exactly the most affordable batteries, but considering that they do perform significantly better than the older NP-W126/S batteries for about the same price, I think that they are worth the money. But nice to see Wasabi coming with some more affordable options.

FINALLY in STOCK: Fujifilm X-T4 Black Body and BC-W235 Dual Battery Charger

The Fujifilm X-T4 is now marked as in stock at BHphoto. So far only the black body version seems to be in stock.

You can also find the new Fujifilm BC-W235 dual battery charger in stock at BHphoto. We remind you that the X-T4 comes without external charger, hence, if you don’t want to charge your batteries through the camera body, you might consider this accessory.

Fujifilm X-T4: First Bug Reports (Menu and IBIS) and Wishlist

Many FujiRumors readers are getting their long awaited Fujifilm X-T4 in these days. As a consequence, I also already get the first firmware suggestions and possible bug reports.

by Gerald & Richard

Loving the X-T4 but why the regression in the Q menu so custom simulation names aren’t shown?

the Q menu custom items can’t be renamed as it is possible on X-T3

So, even if you set the custom names, they will not appear in the display when pressing the Q button (as they do on X-T3 & Co).

Ok Fuji, I want a firmware fix before I even get my X-T4 ;).

by Albert (video below)

Just thought i would share my findings about the IBIS in the X-T4. Fingers crossed they release a firmware update for this.

by Kirill

I just got my pre-ordered X-T4 several days ago. After setting it up similarly to what I had on my previous X-T3, I came up a couple of ideas for even greater customization:

Drive dial in video
Currently, the DRIVE dial only controls camera behavior in STILL mode. Why not propagate it into MOVIE mode, as well? I suggest that each DRIVE setting activate a dedicated video profile. Just a few (potentially predefined, but modifiable) example profiles:

    1. HDR mode
      Activates the F-Log video recording.
    2. CL mode
      Activates 120 fps  slo-mo recording.
    3. CH mode
      Activates 240 fps slo-mo recording.

Dedicated Fn-button customization for STILL and MOVIE modes.
This could further improve the (already almost perfect) camera usability. As an example, the Fn1 button can be customized for triggering different actions, depending on currently selected recording mode:

    1. STILL mode
Turns depth-of-field preview on and off.
    2. MOVIE mode
      Turns zebras on and off.

I’ve read several times that Fujifilm executives may follow your blog and listen to customer feedback. Maybe, there is a (albeit small) chance that these thoughts can materialize?

Fujifilm X-T4 Shipping already in USA (at Some Stores)

UPDATE: in Europe it is shipping already since April 28.

A fellow FR-reader contacted me, telling me that his Fujifilm X-T4 started shipping from a US retailer a few days ago. Yesterday he received it, and he also sent me the image of his black X-T4. He writes:

I sold a Nikon Z7 system to come back to Fuji after several years so I’m REALLY excited about this

According to all major retailers, shipping is marked as starting on May 11. But it’s clear they already have them in the warehouses, and some retailers just can’t wait to make their customers happy.

I never understood why Fujifilm sets a “shipping-embargo” on gear. If it’s there, why let it sit in the warehouse instead of shipping it to customers?

Many, really many fellow X Shooter already got his X-T4 especially here in Europe, and if you want some serious unboxing frenzy, check out or fantastic Fujifilm X-T group.

Several FR-readers contacted me, to let me know they just received his Fujifilm X-T4 in some countries already, as you can see above from the images.

Just 2 days ago, Fujifilm released the final X-T4 firmware. So it seems that now it’s OK to start shipping it. Let’s hope other stores will follow soon.

Within the end of April, the X-T4 body should ship all over the world. The kits will follow later.

Fujifilm X-T4 vs Nikon Z6 Focus Tracking Tests using Fringer Adapters and Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L II

Fringer has shared a video, where he compares the performance of the Canon EF300mm f/2.8L II on the (pre-production) Fujifilm X-T4 and the Nikon Z6 using the Fringer smart autofocus adapter.

You can see the video down below.

The results:

  • Nikon Z6 at 9 fps: sharp images 20/25
  • Fujifilm X-T4 at 14 fps: sharp images 22/25

His overall conclusion:

  1. When adapting the Canon EF300mm f/2.8L II on the Fringer adapters, both cameras perform very well
  2. in stills mode, focus tracking is better on the Fujifilm X-T4. The X-T4 has a higher frame rate and also a higher accuracy (88% vs 80%)
  3. in movie mode both cameras track very well

You can get the Fringer EF-FX Pro II at AmazonUS, BHphoto and Adorama.

COVID-19: My Best Friend Postpones His Wedding, But I Keep my Fujifilm X-T4 Pre-order ;)

I owe you an update.

Back in January I told you how my best friend asked me to photograph part of his wedding.

In a follow up post, we had a vivid discussion on which gear I should use, which to buy and also other things, like how I should deal with the official photographer and much more.

The 56mm f/1.2 was top recommended, and I bought it immediately (although living under lockdown, I can only annoy my cat so far with it).

The main dilemma? Fujifilm X-T4, yes or no?

I thought about it a few days, and then, right at the Fujifilm X-T4 announcement day, I pre-ordered it for these 5 reasons.

And now comes the update.

Due to COVID-19, my friend decided to postpone his wedding to June 2021. That’s a pity, but also a fully understandable decision he made. He surely does not want his guests to go around with masks and be afraid of shaking hands on his wedding.

And my X-T4?

Sure, I won’t photograph my friends’ wedding in June, but I also won’t stop photographing!

Hence, once this situation is over, I can’t wait to get my Fujifilm X-T4 and use it on my travels and on my wonderful Dolomites again.

Oh… and Happy Easter, my fellow Fuji friends ;)
