Fujifilm X100V (or X200) Coming with New Lens

We already told you that the Fujifilm X100F successor (X100V/X200) will come in 2020.

I am still working on the details, but I can now safely say, that the Fujifilm X100V (or X200) will come with a new lens (and of course we can expect the latest X-Trans IV sensor in it).

As an anonymous source also told me, “the old lens is already struggling to make use of the current sensor”.

I know you guys have questions about the new lens. And I am working on this. But for now I do not feel confident enough to give a final answer on this. But the work is in progress, so expect updates on this hopefully soon.

Thanks to the anonymous source, who contacted me yesterday confirming me it will have a new lens. I read also the rest of your message. I will make a routine checks, and share later on. Thanks a ton!

Fujifilm X100V/X200 Coming in… The Answer in This FujiRumors Article!

Looking at the Fujifilm X series camera release timeline we shared last year, and comparing it with the current rumors, we can say that it turns out to be pretty accurate… except for one camera: the Fujifilm X100F successor (may it be called X100V or X200 or whatever)

The X100 line had a refresh cycle of about 2 years, and given that the X100F was launched in January 2017, everybody speculates it will come very soon, at least within 2019.

But trusted sources now informed us, that the Fujifilm X100V (or X200) will be launched in 2020 only!

This time Fujifilm decided to wait longer than ever to give us a successor.

And by the way, if you want to know which is the Fujifilm facebook group with less gear talk, less gear shots, less gear discussions and mostly focussed on the art of photography and images, than this is definitely our Fujifilm X100 facebook group.

I think this is representative for the people, who buy this camera: never think about gear again. Get the camera, one lens only, and go out and shoot. It’s all about being focused on taking pictures.

The liberation of limitation!

How to Save and Restore Your Camera Settings

How to Save & Restore Camera Settings

Every now and then I get emails from fellow Fujifilm X Shooters, complaining that their camera settings get completely deteleted. There are several reasons this can happen:

  • after firmware update (it should not happen, but it can)
  • discharging of the small build-in internal battery: happens if you leave your camera too long without battery. In case of new cameras, give it a long first charge, or settings will delete shortly after battery has been removed

So the first thing you can do, is to avoid the errors we mentioned above.

And yet, sometimes it’s not a user error (see firmware update), so you better have a Plan B in case all your settings get lost, and in our case, our Plan B is called Fuji X Acquire.

And since just right after the Fujifilm X-T3 firmware update, some FR-readers couldn’t find the back-up feature, I thought I share a quick guide on how to save & restore your Fujifilm camera settings using Fujifilm X Acquire.

DPReview Fujifilm Managers Interview: “No Need to Open X Mount, AI and Global Shutter are the Future, GFX100 Within End of June”

DPReview interviewed Toshi Iida, Makoto Oishi and Shin Udono. Here are the main points (full interview at dpreview here):

Medium Format

  • Full Frame and Medium Format will coexist
  • GFX 50R sales look very promising
  • FF is 1/3 of market in terms of value, slightly growing
  • MF was 1%, but doubled after GFX introduction
  • 70% of MF buyers were coming from other brands, mainly DSLR, and the GFX is their additional system
  • 20% of GFX users are professionals, 80% non-professionals (especially GFX 50R users)
  • Fujifilm wants to increase professional base, also thanks to Capture One support and with future GFX 100
  • Fujifilm GFX 100 should show the potential of medium format
  • FF can reach 70-80 Megapixel
  • GFX lenses designed for 100MP resolution
  • Fujifilm GFX100 will be available before the end of June
  • Fujifilm GFX100 target is commercial photographers, fashion, landscapes, but also more general purpos
  • GFX 100 will shoot at 16bit RAW. Benefit noticeable mostly at low ISO and deep shadow detail. 4 times the amount of data, 14 bit lets you shoot faster, which is appropriate for APS-C

Happy Birthday Fujifilm X: Fujifilm X100 Released 8 Years Ago!

Happy Birthday Fujifilm X

Exactly 8 years ago, on March 5, 2011, the original Fujifilm X100 hit the market, and started not only a very successful line with the X100, X100S, X100T and X100F, but it marked the beginning of the Fujifilm X series.

And in times, where we all carve for innovation in terms of more sophisticated specs, the Fujifilm X100 line biggest innovation is its simplicity and essentiality, which seems to free up people’s mind and boost their creativity.

The “one camera, one lens” concept is very much-loved by the members of our 22,000 people strong X100 group, who appreciate to be free of the weight of gear, but also of the weight of gear-centric thoughts about which lenses to use or bring on travels.

Fujifilm knows, though, that the switch to one single focal length can discourage people to buy into the X100 line, which is why they do offer some flexibility with the Fujifilm WCL-100 and Fujifilm TCL-100.

With these converters, photographers get a mini-system with leaf shutter and integrated ND-filter, that allows you to cover from 28 to 50mm equivalent.

Last but not least, the Fujifilm X100 design is also, according to this poll, by far your favorite looking X series camera, and I fully support this.

So, today we celebrate the X100 here on FujiRumors, by dedicating it an own roundup.

Long live the Fujifilm X100 line, and we can’t wait for the Fujifilm X100V or X200 to come :).

Size Comparisons

You can now compare the size of the Fujifilm X-T3o and Fujinon XF16mm f/2.8 to any other camera and lens available in the camerasize database.

At the current stage, camerasize does not allow you to attach any lens on the Fujifilm X-T30. So you have to select the Fujifilm X-T20 to attach the Fujinon XF16mm f/2.8 on it.

Above you can see a comparison of the Fujinon XF16mm f/2.8 (in the center) vs the XF35mm f/2, XF23mm f/2, XF16mm f/1.4 and my lovely XF27mm f/2.8.

Down below instead a camera body comparison between the Fujifilm X-T30, Sony A6400 and Canon EOS RP.

Fujifilm 2019 Predictions

It’s time for gear predictions!

Techradar started here, by predicting the Fujifilm X-Pro3 and maybe also the Fujifilm X100F successor in 2019.

Now it’s time for Tony and Chelsea Northrup to predict new gear.

Tony says he noticed a trend at Fujifilm, which is making full frame equivalent fast lenses (XF200mmF2, XF8-16mmF2.8, XF33mmF1.0). Hence, according to his predictions, Fujifilm will launch:

Over a year ago, I told you that Fujifilm will NOT launch more than 2/3 X and 2/3 GF lenses a year (at least not until they finish to expand their lens factories).

And since Fujifilm already has 2 lenses scheduled for this year (the XF16mmF2.8 and XF16-80mmF4), I’d not expect more than 1 “surprise” lens to come (if any).

Fujifilm GFX50S: Can Hasselblad Compete With Fujifilm, GFX 50S vs Nikon D850 vs Sony A7RIII vs Canon EOS 5DS, Gigapixel Image

Fujifilm GFX

With the release of the more affordable, smaller and lighter Fujifilm GFX50R, Fujifilm has dropped the price of the Fuji GFX50S to $5,499 (check BHphoto, Adorama and AmazonUS).

The Fujifilm GFX 50S might be still more expensive over the “R”, but if offers features the Fujifilm GFX50R does not have, such as the 3 way tilt screen, a tiltable and ultra large EVF, top LCD screen and more.

And after months of buzz only around the Fujifilm GFX50R, I decided to decdicate a roundup to the Fujifilm GFX50S only.

And at the bottom you will find a few images from our gigiantic Fujifilm GFX facebook group.
