Look, I am the first to be disappointed that Fujifilm hasn’t refreshed the X mount lens roadmap yet.
It makes no sense and it’s one of Fujifilm’s big mistakes that they refuse to give us a new one.
I have expressed my frustration and explained Fujifilm’s error in this article here.
So all I can try to do, is to try to create some sort of “unofficial” roadmap based on rumors.
And even if it is incredibly difficult to get on these kind of rumors, today our sources were able to do just that and we can tell you what the next lens is that Fujifilm will launch.
Almost here – First Camera with REALA film simulation
It was a wonderful sunrise with golden hour in full power overlooking the Dolomites, when we told you that Fujifilm will launch a new film simulation on September 12 called Reala, the digital version of the much loved Reala film stock.
Make sure to check out the video… it’s worth it for the view alone.
Now, personally I am very thrilled about it and can’t wait to see how it looks like.
But as usual when we talk Film Simulations, there is a good number of people who says: “who cares, I shoot RAW anyway”.
And that’s totally fine. Everybody has different needs.
But there is a basic misconceptions here that we need to root out once for all.

According to our trusted sources (thanks!) that the new film simulation coming September 12 will be called REALA.
The Reala film stock (sold with the name Reala Ace and Reala Superia and discontinued in 2012), was a aimed at professional and enthusiast photographers and it was Fuji’s first film with 4th layer technology for exceptional color accuracy, especially in fluorescent lighting (no greenish cast). The 4th layer technology would make also the 400H film so popular.
The original film was very loved by wedding photographers and seems to be ready to make its comeback in form of a new film simulation.
Let’s hope it will find its way in as many older Fujifilm cameras as possible. But so far I have no rumors about any firmware updates in this regard.

Usually it goes like this.
Fujifilm launches a new sensor/processor platform and gives us a new film simulation along with it.
But that did not happen with the launch of the Fujifilm X-H2S back in May 2022, and also not with all the other 5th generation gear that followed (X-H2, X-T5, X-S20).
That sucked, and I started moaning about it after the last X summit in May 2023.
But things are finally going to change on September 12.
According to our trusted sources, Fujifilm will launch a new film simulation on September 12.
One more thing to look forward to on September 12.

Earlier this year, Meike launched the Meike 85mm f/1.8 autofocus lens for Fujifilm X mount.
Well, the next one is just around the corner.
In fact, Meike has displaned the Meike AF 55mm f/1.4 for Fujifilm X Mount at a phtography show in Beijing (all images shared in this article), as spotted and shared on the Chinese platform Weibo by 独立摄影师联合会 (reported also by Asobinet).
The specs are unknown, but as we can see from the images it has an aperture ring and looks to be weather sealed.

FujiRumors broke the rumors:
But we also know one more thing. Fujifilm two registrations filed so far: the Fujifilm FF230001 and FF230002.
Now, assuming that one of the two will be the Fujifilm GFX100 replacement, this leaves all possible options open for the second one.
Well, not really all options. I mean, I simply can’t see a Fujifilm X-H3 or Fujifilm X-H3s coming in September, as those cameras are hardly 1 year old (or less). And also not the Fujifilm X-T6 or Fujifilm X-S30.
But other than that, we can hope for:
And in fact, I asked you to vote on which camera you’d like to get on September 12 and you can see the results here.
At this point you’ve noticed something: there is no Fujifilm X100V successor (X200, X100VI, X100 whatever it will be called) in the list.
Why?
Well, because despite being one of your top wished cameras (second only to another camera), and despite fake rumors already being shared about the X100V to come on September 12, I can now tell you with 110% certainty that there will not be any Fujifilm X100V replacement coming in 2023.
Trust me on this guys. No X100V successor in 2023.
I guess Fujifilm has no hurry at all to come out with a successor, given the fact, explained by Fujifilm managers, that if the world would stop to order X100V today, it would still take them 3 months to be able to ship all X100V orders placed until yesterday.
Seen from this perspective, the biggest problem of the Fujifilm X100VI (or whatever) is the terrific success of the X100V.
“I feel lucky and will click the links to see if the X100V is in stock” :)
