Fujifilm Vision 2019: “We Work Toward Capturing No.1 Market Share in Premium Mirrorless Market” (Medium-Term Plan VISION2019)

Wow… now that’s an ambitious goal.

Fujifilm just published their new medium-term management plan, called VISION2019, covering a three year period from the fiscal year ending March 2018 (FY2018/3) to the fiscal year ending March 2020 (FY2020/3.).

And regarding their imaging division they write:

  • In digital cameras, work toward capturing No.1 market share in the premium mirrorless camera market, promoting the X Series that continues to evolve with outstanding image quality, fast speed and mobility, alongside the medium-format GFX Series that uses a large sensor, 1.7 times bigger than that of full-frame cameras, to pursue the pinnacle of image quality.
  • Reinforce the lineup of its highly reputable interchangeable lenses to continue to achieve increased revenues and profits in the mirrorless system business as a whole.
  • Broaden the lens business by expanding the lineup of 4K broadcast lenses, launched ahead of the rest of the world, as well as the lineup of lenses for the fast-growing new video production market, including online video.
  • With regard to the “INSTAX” instant camera and film, expand the sales of existing products and promote its square-format products for greater proliferation. Expand printing service solutions with added convenience, e.g. incorporating AI, to boost printing demand from smartphones to maintain the upward trend in profits.
  • FY2020/3 targets: 380 billion yen in revenues, 45 billion yen in operating income and 11.8% in operating income ratio

The competition is obviously very strong, especially from Sony, who are dominating, as we can also see from the AmazonUS mirrorless bestseller charts. But it’s good to see Fujifilm so confident about their present and future products, such as the sensor stabilizied Fujifilm X-T2S and of course the Fujifilm GFX 100S.

And you know what would sound really PREMIUM, too? That XF33mmF1.0!

Now, I want you to get quickly to the comments down below, so I won’t copy & paste the entire long press release here on FujiRumors. But if you want to read more, also about the medical, documents & co solutions and goals, check out the Fujifilm page here.

FLASH News & Rumors

Fujifilm Firmware Update Will Bring Improved AF-Tracking of X-E3 also to Other X-series Cameras

Fujifilm X-E3

Just yesterday we reported about the rumored improved AF-tracking of the upcoming Fujifilm X-E3.

Some people thought that this could mean there will be some hardware improvements over the X-T2 (faster processor, new sensor etc).

Well, instead of replying to everyone in the comments and on Facebook and Twitter, I think it’s better to say it in a dedicated article: the AF-tracking improvement will be software related only, and Fujifilm will deliver a nice firmware update to bring it to other X-series cameras, too.

So guys, the big Fujifilm Party on September 7 is coming… and I’m ready for an epic live blogging.

Stick around… and stay tuned on Facebook, RSS-feed and Twitter for the latest updates.:)

The Fujifilm X-T2 autofocus is fast. I mean really fast.

It is so fast, that even the godfather of the Sony A7 series, Sony Manager Kimio Maki, confirmed in an interview, that the fast focussing Fujifilm X-T2 is a threat for Sony A7 series and that Sony does not have this weapon right now. [NOTE: a weapon, that finally came with the Sony A9]

And the X-T2 AF-tracking is also vastly improved compared to everything else we have seen before in the Fuji world.

I don’t own the X-T2, but I saw it in action last year, when I joined the Fuji X Photowalk after a very busy day at Photokina. The organizer of the photowalk, wedding photographer Jörg Kampers, had the X-T2 with the XF 56mmF1.2 and tracked a runner on the street using the 56 wide open at F1.2. And when we reviewed the images… bang… the X-T2 nailed every single shot!

But somehow it will get even better… :-)

I hear, that the Fujifilm X-E3 will have an improved AF-tracking. And I mean improved not compared to the X-E2, but compared to the X-T2!

Sounds good?

Well, then stay tuned on FujiRumors via Facebook, RSS-feed and Twitter… we are going to have a good time soon :)

have a fantastic day,

IBIS, really?

In the comments and at our facebook page, there was some confusion. People thought FR has said the X-E3 will have IBIS. Well, although I actually realize that no source explicitly told me that it will NOT have IBIS, I feel quite confident to say that the X-E3 won’t have IBIS. So, although not rumored by FR-sources, I say….

  • no IBIS

I guess all the confusion comes from the following rumors

  • Fujifilm X-T2S will have IBIS (In Body Image Stabilization) – read here

This Simple “Trick” Will Show You When Your Fujifilm Camera Has Been Made

Ok guys, if you ever wanted to know when your Fujifilm camera has been manufactured, here is a simple way to find it out :)

All you have to do is to check out the first two figures of your serial number.

So, as you can see above, my good old (and now discontinued) Fujifilm X-T1 serial number starts with “42“.

This means that my Fujifilm X-T1 has been made in 2014, in quarter 2.

To check if this is correct, I opened a random image of mine (SOOC or RAW) with the Graphic Converter EXIF tool. Here is what it shows me: 2014:06:18… or 18th of June, 2014. So indeed, quartal 2 of 2014.

So if your serial number starts with, let’s say, 71, it means your camera has been manufactured in 2017, quarter 1.

UPDATE: Thanks to the FR-community, we have solved the riddle. As from Fuji’s page in Russian here (google translated)

1st digit = Year:
1 = 2011, 2 = 2012, …

2st digit/letter = Quarter:
I quarter = 1, 5, A, S, E, J, N
II quarter = 2, 6, B, T, F, K, P
III quarter = 3, 7, C, U, G, L, Q
IV quarter = 4, 8, D, W, H, M, R

Examples of determining the year and quarter of production:

Serial number 1Txxxxxx – the first position of the number – the number “1” means 2011, the second position of the number – “T” – means the 2nd quarter, accordingly the product was produced from April to June 2011;

Serial number 03xxxxxx – the first position of the number – the number “0” means 2010, the second position of the number – “3” – means the 3rd quarter, accordingly the product was produced from July to September 2010.

The production date itself is taken as the last day of the production quarter. Ie, if the camera is produced in the third quarter, the warranty period will be counted from September 30.

Fujifilm X-E3 Wrap-Up And Mock-Up!

The Fujifilm X-E3 will very likely be launched on September 7 at Fuji’s “Fujkina” event in Toyko, and probably along with other Fuji gear.

In order to manage his impatience, FR-reader Miko created his own mock-up of the Fujifilm X-E3, based on the X-E3 rumors and leaked images, which I’m happy to share today here on Fujirumors. Centered hot shoe, shutter/ISO dial combo, front dial, AF-assist light moved higher, no pop up flash… and super-sexy  :)

I’m here… back from holidays, and 100% focused on the rumors and announcements (on September 7). Hope you will stick around on FujiRumors… and feel free to follow Fujirumors on Facebook, RSS-feed, Twitter.

And now, time for an overview of rumored X-E3 specs:

Firmware Updates for Fujifilm GFX 50S, X-Pro2, X-T2, X-T20 and X100F Available

Fujifilm just released new firmware that fixes the following issues:

New Fujifilm X-T20 Firmware Ver. 1.02 is Out (but Not Yet for Official Download)… Other Fuji Cameras to Get New Firmware, too?

There is a new firmware update on the way for the Fujifilm X-T20 (and maybe for other Fujifilm cameras too?)

A FR-reader just received back his Fujifilm X-T20 from repair, and he saw that his Fujifilm X-T20 has already firmware 1.02 installed (latest official version is 1.01).

When will Fujifilm release firmware 1.02 for every X-T20 owner?

As we told you earlier today here on Fujirumors, Fujifilm will have a big Fujikina event on September 7. That could be a good date to release the latest firmware update for X-T20… but I have no rumored date for now.

What we have seen in the past, is that Fujifilm usually releases updates for several cameras on the very same day, so I wouldn’t be surprised if also other Fujifilm cameras will get an update. But also in this case, just a speculation of mine.

Anyway… whatever comes, I’m 100% focussed to give you guys the fastest udpates, the most reliable rumors and the freshest news in the Fuji world.

*** The fact that Fujirumors is consistently the first to break the news and rumors, is only made possible thanks to your support. By sharing with FR, you allow me to keep the entire Fuji World up to date (and excited) in real-time. I couldn’t do all this alone, so thanks so much for your help… and feel free to keep up sharing… I can’t wait to see what you guys spot next :)
