Fujifilm X-E3 Wooden Grip, The Mini X-Pro2, Fuji X-E3 Bug Fixes, X-E3 or X-T20, A Great Little Street Camera & More (X-E3 Roundup)

Fujifilm X-E3 Roundup

So Christmas is over, and it was the first one with my new Fujifilm X-E3.  So far I am in love with it, especially if used with the XF27mm, it’s the perfect walkaround, street and travel camera.

I have only two issues, one of them I already reported abou it here.

  • The focus stick blocks – video here
  • Sometimes my X-E3 tells me that no SD card is inserted, although there is one. In that case, I have to remove SD card, put it in again, and then shoot again. The SD card issue happened also when I shot on tripod… and God knows why the X-E3 has still no centered tripod mount. So I had to unscrew everything, take out SD-card, put it in again, mount it again on tripod, and shoot.

For these two reasons, my local store told me they will replace my camera with a new one, as soon as they get one from Fujifilm after holidays.

I think I was just unlucky… the next sample will work perfectly fine. But of course I will keep you updated.

In the meantime, enjoy this huge roundup dedicated to the lovely Fujifilm X-E3.

But before that, feel free to join our Fujifilm X-E facebook group.

Tony Northrup: “IBIS and APS-C F1.8 Zoom Lenses Would Put Fujifilm in the Same League as Full Frame”

Tony Northrup shared his camera gear predictions video, and it includes also the Fujifilm X-H1.

Now, much has been written here on FujiRumors about the Fujifilm X-H1, and we have a vast number of specs already leaked, including accurate sketches and renderings of the real Fujifilm X-H1 camera (last rumors here).

So in this article I would not like to focus on the X-H1, but on another suggestion that comes from Tony.

Tony is a big IBIS fan, and he can’t wait to see Fujifilm launching the X-H1.

IBIS is, in his opinion, one of the two big things still missing on Fujifilm cameras. He says Fujinon lenses are very good and sharp, but lenses without OIS need IBIS.

The second big lack, always according to Tony, are APS-C F1.8 zooms. He says:

If you do that [F1.8 zooms] and give me a sensor stabilized camera, that would put you in the same league as Full Frame Canon, Nikon and Sony and we can see a lot of professional photographers switching over to your bodies.”

So what do you guys think? Now that Fujifilm will release the X-H1 with IBIS, is the lack of F1.8 zooms the last thing that is missing to make Pros switch to Fujifilm APS-C?

Check out Tony’s video here.

Sure, the Fujifilm X-H1 is just around the corner, and it will be Fuji’s best hybrid video/stills camera. We have rumored the complete 4K specs, we have told you about the internal F-log, the IBIS, we gave you extremely accurate sketches that show you the camera and a lot more.

But fact is, that, already today, Fujifilm cameras are very appreciated for video. So in today’s mixed zone I will include a little dedicated “video” section.

But there is much more… hope you will find some good read amongst it..

and enjoy your weekend :)
Patrick

FujiRumors is on Instagram… and Explains You Why You Should Buy that New Lens :)

Hi all,

Quite some time ago, I made an Instagram account, that I never used. And yet, slowly, it gained 100 followers.

To celebrate the event of having 100 followers with zero posts, I’ve have shared a flowchart, that explains you why you should buy a new lens. A chart that has been shared to me by Olli on Twitter, but if somebody knows the original source, please let me know, because whoever did it is a genius, and deserves a quote. Help me to find that guy! :)

Anyway, having 100 followers with zero posts, means that you guys are out there on Instagram, and that maybe somebody would like to join me there, so I thought it might be time to get a bit more active.

I’m not yet very familiar with Instagram, but I think it’s about sharing images and also tidbits from my private life.

So let me try my first steps into the instagram world. I should have soon the opportunity to share some stuff there, since I plan 2 mini-holidays:

  • weekend in Prague with girlfriend on 16/17 December (it’s her birthday)
  • 4 day city trip from 2 to 5 January with girlfriend. Still to decide if Rome or Venice/Verona

But right now most of the time I will be very busy with work, and in my spare time I won’t have much time to do anything else than blogging, given the Fujifilm X-H1 announcement.

However, once this stress period is over and I will have more spare time, I will make sure to bring you a bit more with me in my daily life.

So, if you are on Instagram and would not like to miss to see me drinking excellent beer in Prague soon, then join me on Instagram here.

Speaking of Prague… (shameless use of FR for personal use, sorry ;) )

Usually when I travel I always have some “photo-goals“. In Prague my “photo-goal” is to take an image at sunrise from Karl’s Bridge. So, if you see a guy with a Fujifilm X taking pictures, that’s me :) . Hopefully the weather will be good. Any other spot I should not miss to photograph?

And to FR-readers from Prague, any tip where I should book a romantic dinner with my girlfriend? Last time I was in Prague I was 23, and at that age I didn’t care much about romantic dinners in Prague honestly… so any tip is highly appreciated.

yours, truely

Fujifilm Plans 10/15 more Lenses for GFX in the Next 5 Years… and Correcting More Wrong Rumors

I’m in the rumor world since many years now, and I know it’s not easy to share accurate information. It’s way more complicated than you think.

This is why I never shout “fake clickbait rumors“, when I read some wrong rumors that surface on the web.

All I do in those cases, is to correct those wrong rumors, so that you guys have an accurate idea of what Fujifilm is going to launch (or not).

And today, it’s my job to correct some wrong rumors that I think have been shared with good will, but are nevertheless wrong.

I have the choice to leave them wrong, or correct them. And I decided to correct them. With great respect to the source though, who I think shared really what it heard.

No shitstorm, no hate, just a little help to get closer to the truth (and I know that it’s not easy, believe me).

Wrong Rumor 1
25/30 lenses for GFX in the next 5 years?

GFX lovers, don’t have too high expectations. Fujifilm will not have 25 or even 30 GF lenses in total within the next 5 years.

The current schedule is to release 2/3 GF lenses a year, so this means maximum 10 to 15 GF more lenses will be added in the next 5 years.

Add to these 10/15 lenses the current 6 GF lenses, and we will have from 16 to a maximum of 21 GF lenses 5 years from now (not bad at all!)

But the only way for Fujifilm to have a total of 30 GF lenses 5 years from now, would be to stop developling lenses for X-mount ;)

Wrong Rumor 2
GF 80-180 ?

Sorry guys, Fujifilm has no plans for such a lens. Again, I invite you to check out this secret GF roadmap (which shows a 100-200 lens, though ;) ). There is no GF 80-180 on Fuji’s internal roadmap.

Wrong Rumor 3
Fujifilm X-H1 will have a different processor?

Nope. It’s the same X Processor Pro used in X-T2, GFX, X-Pro2 etc. I might publish a more in-depth article later on about this. But at the end of the day there is no doubt that the X-H1 will get its power from the good old X Processor Pro.

Message to source I have corrected

I have corrected some of your rumors, and publicly on FujiRumors I can’t say more than this.

But privately and confidentially, and of course only with permission of my sources, I can give you a more in-depth and detailed insight behind the scenes of what my current Fuji long-term knowledge is and if you want we can compare our knowledge.

If you want, feel free to contact me via email creating a fake email account if you feel more comfortable.

Message to sources in general

As I said above… rumors are always complicated. So even if you think “Ah, Patrick will probably already know it”, don’t hesitate to contact me. Given the amount of fake rumors I get, even every double/triple confirmation I can get is extremely useful for me.

stay tuned… the best has yet to come :)
