Dear FUJIFILM, We Decided: These Are the 6 X-Mount Lenses You Should Make Next

The Future APS-C Lenses We Want!

You Guys Rock!!!

Over 10,000 of you voted in just 3 days at our ultimate “future X-mount lenses” Poll… as usual, you guys do not disappoint when it comes to giving Fujifilm your feedback :-)

Your open discussions and massive votes in polls make the FujiRumors Community an unmatched source of online user feedback for Fujifilm…. so no surprise that your suggestions and comments not only have already been publicy shown at offical Fujifilm press events, but have also influenced Fujifilm’s decisions.

So let’s continue this tradition of giving Fujifilm Managers our feedback, and share with them our top 6 APS-C lenses on the wishlist.

TOP 6 LENSES OVERALL

  1. Fujinon XF 8-16mm f/2.8 (26%)
  2. Fujinon XF 33mm f/1 (23%,)
  3. Fujinon XF 16-75mm f/4 (12%) * NOTE: there were also many votes (8%) for the XF15-90mmF4, which is quite similar. So overall we can say that a XF16-80mmF4 would get about 20% of the preferences, which is why I placed it on the 3rd position.
  4. Fujinon XF 35mm f/1.4 MK II (18%)
  5. Fujinon XF 18mm f/2 MK II (14%)
  6. Fujinon XF 105mm f/2 Macro (14%)

TOP 3 PRIMES:

  1. Fujinon XF 33mm f/1.0 (23%)
  2. Fujinon XF 35mm f/1.4 MK II (18%)
  3. Fujinon XF 105mm f/2 Macro (14%)

TOP 3 ZOOMS:

  1. Fujinon XF 8-16mm f/2.8 (26%)
  2. Fujinon XF 16-75mm f/4 (12%) * NOTE: there were also many votes (8%) for the XF15-90mmF4, which is quite similar. So overall we can say that a XF16-80mmF4 would get about 20% of the preferences.
  3. Fujinon XF 16-55mm f/2.8 MK II (10%)

Considerations… and that 33/1, C’mon Fuji!!!

The overall Top Wish, the 8-16/2.8, is on Fuji’s internal roadmap and should come after the 80mm according to this rumor. The official updated roadmap, released just a few days ago, mentions only an “ultra wide angle zoom” for 2018. So, well done, Fuji, you’ll make many of us happy :-)

Sadly, the XF33mmF1.0 has apparently been scratched, according to this rumor. Let’s just hope, that the overwhelming result this lens got in our poll will help Fujifilm to reconsider their position. C’mon Fuji… it’s clear we want that lens!!!

So, dear Fujifilm, we evidently want the 33/1 even more badly than the “telephoto prime lens” in your new roadmap (the 200mm is Nr. 14th on the wish list, with 8% of the votes). Sure, the 200 closes a gap in the line-up, but the 33/1 should have priority anyway… so says the X-community.

The XF18mmF2 MK II is another top wish, and, according to this rumor, it is indeed on Fujifilm internal roadmap, but not yet on the official one.

An honourable mention goes to the 18mm Tilt Shift lens, which is 9th out of 30 lenses, and would have probably gathered even more votes if it was a 14mm lens.

I have no information about the other top lenses lenses in your wish-list. If I hear anything, I’ll let you know on fujirumors.com…. and if anyone out there can help, well, you can use the 100% anonymous rumor box to contact me (would be great if you could use a nick name) or via email at fujirumor@gmail.com.

have a great weekend :) ,

Fujifilm Updates X-Mount Roadmap :: Ultra Wide Angle Zoom and Telephoto Prime Lens Coming 2018

Fujifilm just updated its roadmap. It inlcudes the latest Cinema lenses, but also…

… for 2018

  • ultra wide angle zoom (rumors say 8-16mmF2.8)
  • Telephoto Prime (probably the 200mm)

FUJIFILM Corporation (President: Kenji Sukeno) has unveiled the latest development roadmap for interchangeable lenses for the X Series of digital cameras.

Fujifilm introduced the X Series of digital cameras in 2011, released mirrorless digital cameras featuring the X Mount in 2012, and has since continued to expand the series with active introduction of new products. At the same time, the lineup of interchangeable lenses, designed for the X Series, has been constantly expanded to offer 24 lenses in total now. Many photographers have praised these products for their advanced image quality and mobility.

<Lenses newly added to the roadmap>

1. New MK series of cinema camera lenses for filming video

Amidst growing demand for high-definition video, including 4K video, in the field of professional video production, Fujifilm is developing the X Mount versions of all-new MK Series of cinema camera lenses to address the needs for filming video with X Series cameras, taking advantage of their excellent mobility and operability, and unique color-reproduction technology to capture premium-quality video in an amazing array of colors.

2. “telephoto prime lens” and “ultra-wide angle zoom lens” for still images

Fujifilm has constantly expanded its lineup of interchangeable lenses for the X Series to cover a wide range of focal lengths from wide angle to ultra-telephoto. The company now plans to develop “telephoto prime lens” and “ultra-wide angle zoom lens” in response to numerous requests from professional photographers and photography enthusiasts to further expand the lineup of XF lenses, optimized for shooting still photos.

Fujifilm will continue to expand the lineup of the X Series of cameras and its interchangeable lenses to cater to a wide range of needs from still photography to video filming, thereby boosting the appeals of the X Series even further.

  • The images shown are different from the products’ final exterior design.
  • * The above roadmap is as of February 2017. Product specifications are subject to change.
  • * The figures in brackets are equivalent focal lengths in the 35mm film format.
  • * The MK Series of lenses are dedicated to video filming.

Fujinon XF 33mm F1.0 No Longer on Fujifilm’s Internal Roadmap … GAME OVER for Fuji’s Super Fast Lens?

Fujinon XF 33mm F1.0

Back in 2015, I told you here that Fujifilm had plans to develop the Fujinon XF 33mm F1.0 lens.

But something changed in 2016, when I told you here that the terrific success of the XF35mmF2 WR convinced Fujifilm to focus on compact and weather sealed lenses. Also, the GFX + GF lenses came along, and Fuji had to put lots of R&D into the development of a complete new system.

As a consequence, the development of the XF33mmF1.0 had been pushed back (as well as the one of the XF8-16 and 200mm).

So, in these days, I’ve tried to understand what happened with these 3 long rumored lenses. I was able to confirm, that the XF 8-16 is on Fujifilm internal roadmap and is scheduled to be the lens to come after the XF80mmF2.8 1:1 Macro.

But here comes the bad news:

I had a talk with a long-term trusted sources about the Fujinon XF 33mm F1.0. The source told me, that, at this stage, the XF33mmF1.0 is no longer on Fujifilm’s internal roadmap. Hence, the source has big doubts it will ever come.

If you have something to say to Fujifilm about it, this is the moment to say it…. because remember… they do read you ;)

So what do you think… should we start to make some pressure just as we did with the X-E3?

XF35mmF2: A Winner for Fujifilm, a No Brainer for X-Shooters: You Can Get it Now for just $299 (until December 24)

The Fujinon XF35mmF2 WR is a winner for Fujifilm… and now it’s also no brainer for X-shooters (at least those located in USA).

In fact, with the current deals, you can get it for just $299… and it seems that many are purchasing it, since it shot up again to the very top of the BHphoto Mirrorless System Lenses Bestseller Ranking.

Since its launch, the XF35mmF2 WR sold like hot cakes. The success was that big, that Fujifilm even changed their internal lens roadmap, putting on ice plans for long rumored lenses like the 8-16mmF2.8, 33mmF1 and 200mm and focussing stronger on releasing a few more compact, weather resistant F2 lenses first… like the 23mmF2 and 50mmF2. But I don’t know, if any other of these little F2 guys will ever match the success of the XF35mmF2 WR, which by the way gets one awesome review after another.

In USA you can find a lot more X-gear in offer, like an overall $300 saving on the X-Pro2 (if purchased at Adorama). Just check out the full list of savings below… you have 2 more weeks to decide if to grab your gear or not.

Fujinon XF50mmF2 WR to be Announced along with X-A10 in November – POLL

50mmf2

Fujinon XF50mmF2 WR

According to a trusted source (thanks), Fujiiflm will announce the Fujinon XF50mmF2 WR along with the Fuji X-A10 in November.

The XF50mmF2 WR will be the third compact weather resistant F2 lens after the XF35mmF2 WR and the XF23mmF2 WR.

It’s a well known fact, that the XF35mmF2 WR is a terrific success for Fujifilm. Also the XF23mmF2 WR seems to sell like hot cakes now… and I wouldn’t be surprised if also the XF50mmF2 WR turns out to be a winner, too.

The other, long rumored lenses, like the XF33mmF1.0, XF8-16mmF2.8 WR and XF200mmF2 (or F2.8) have all been postponed, since Fujifilm wanted to focus on the small and compact F2 trinity + the 80mmF2.8 OIS WR (which replaced the 120mmF2.8 that was in the original roadmap).

And while I get it why people love those small weather sealed F2 guys so much, I hope that in 2017 Fujifilm will catch up were they dropped plans many months ago, and work again on the 33/1, 8-16/2.8 and 200mm…. would love to see them all coming in 2017…. but my personal favorite would be… the… ok, I said it in the Poll below ;)

have a Great day,

Fujifilm Will Launch Lenses with Clickless Aperture for Video in 2017 – New Source

clickless

[wysija_form id=”1″]

X-Video Lenses

According to a new source, Fujifilm will launch lenses with clickless aperture in 2017. These lenses are ment for X-shooters, who use their X-camera especially for videos.

Of course, take it with a grain of salt for now…

With the X-T2, Fujifilm now has a very good allrounder camera, with very fast and accurate Aufotfocus (so confirms even the Sony manager, who created the A7 series) and great video quality. And X-shooters, who use the X-T2 a lot for video, might appreciate the addition of such lenses.

I don’t know, yet, if Fujifilm will make a clickless aperture version of existing lenses, or if they are going to launch complete new lenses.

And while such lenses might be highly appreciated by video shooters, I hope Fujifilm doesn’t forget that some out there are still waiting for the XF33mmF1.0, XF8-16mmF2.8, XF200mmF2 (or 2.8) and some other lenses with a nice clicky aperture ring ;).

Fujifilm 2017 :: The Big Rumor Overview… and 2016 Rumor Check (91% Correct Rumors)

Crystal ball

So, Photokina is over. The most important announcements have been done. So it’s high time to put some order in the remaining rumors.

But first some facts:

  • 650+ blog post published in 2016 so far
  • 101 rumors shared in 2016
  • 13 rumors still to be verified
  • 81 correct rumors (+1 one more correct, but not in ranking. Read why at the bottom of this post)
  • 8 wrong rumors (but actually at least 4 of them were right at the time of sharing. It’s just Fuji that changed plans… that’s the risk I pay for sharing early rumors, and I accept that)
  • 91% correct rumors shared so far in 2016 (and it would be at least 95+%, if Fuji wouldn’t have changed plans on some long term rumors)

And now… what to expect next!

I don’t think Fujifilm will launch much more in 2016… but surprises are always possible. If I hear anything, I’ll let you know.

In 2017 we should see the X100F and the X-T20. And of course the Medium Format Fujifilm GFX will hit the market. It’s also rumored that Profoto will add flash support for X-series cameras. And maybe, so my hope (but not a rumor), after some small and compact weather sealed lenses (35, 23, 50, 80), Fujifilm will also work again on the long rumored 8-16, 33/1 and 200. NOTE: the 33/1 and 200 were rumored in 2015, so they are not included in the 2016 overview.

Sounds already now like a very interesting 2017… and I’m confident Fujifilm will surprise us with something more. Stay tuned on FujiRumors to find it out.

My deepest thanks goes to all sources, who helped me a lot and reached a level of accuracy that is almost scary for a rumor site… I really would like to hug you all :-)

Also, thanks to everybody, who spotted some interesting Fuji related news/rumor/deal/review on the web, and took his/her time to drop me an email with the link to it. Much appreciated… and feel free to keep it up. ;-)

Fuji X-Day July 7 :: Not Only Fujifilm X-T2 :: Recap of What Will be Announced (and What Will Not Come)

Live Blogging FR

July 7
Fujifilm launches Worldwide Exclusive VIP Events (USAEUJAPAN)
And for the mere mortals X-shooters like you and me, who’ll never get an invitation from Fuji? You can follow the Live-Blogging-Event here on FujiRumors!

_ _ _

Hm.. let me see… 420 articles shared only in 2016. And 121 of these 420 were rumors. And reading the comments and emails, I have the feeling that some got quite confused in the huge News/Rumors stream on FR. So here are two things I should do

  1. Invite you to follow FR also on social medias (Facebook, RSS-feed and Twitter) and subscribe to the FR-newsletter (box below), where you’ll get a weekly summary of the most important news/rumors
  2. Make a short summary for those, who are confused right now, about what we will see (or not) on July 7

To be announced July 7

What will NOT come July 7

  • I haven’t heard of a silver X-T2 to be launched along with the black X-T2. It’s a possibility, but I’d not be too optimistic about that
  • No 23mmF2 annoucement (I’m sorry to destroy many dreams out there, but you can stop hoping. Here is the announcement date)
  • XF120mm will be removed from Lens Roadmap (post here and here). So forget an XF120 ever coming.
  • No 33mmF1.0, 200mmF2, 8-16mm and 8mm in the New Roadmap (post here)
  • On request of reader emails: No, I haven’t heard of any camera remote APP update coming on July 7

That’s more or less it. Of course I’m FujiRumors, not Fujifacts, so it might be possible that there will be surprises. Or that I’m not 100% accurate with something. We will see soon.

All I know is that I did my best and squeezed all the energies out of me (and more). But it was (and still is) one of the most exciting times I’ve ever had on FujiRumors! :-)
